Moe drives his fist upward in a crushing uppercut—CRACK! The creature’s jaw snaps, and it collapses in a heap, motionless.

Relief begins to settle in. Hands shift toward sheathing their weapons, victory hanging in the air—when the impossible happens.

Before your eyes, its wounds knit together, bone grinding back into place. The creature’s eyes flicker open, a ragged breath rattles from its throat, and with a shudder, it staggers back to its feet…

It appears the creature has regeneration!

Moe, Merisiel, and Ekadan get Attacks of Opportunity as it stands up!

Kind of in a conundrum right now. Every time you beat the thing back to zero hp, it regenerates back to +5 hp and will try to stand. You all need to find out a way to overcome its regeneration.

If the PCs don't have the requisite Knowledge there's no way for them to learn what to do. The fun of lack of Knowledge! :)

No. Per Core rules, "Try Again: No. The check represents what you know, and thinking about a topic a second time doesn’t let you know something that you never learned in the first place." Either another PC with Knowledge (Local) can try or if someone has Knowledge (Nature) they can try. Absent that it's tough luck. Or maybe a trait, feat, class feature, re-roll, boon from a previous Chronicle sheet could provide an option?

"It seems to be regenerating," notes Moe. "I can offer alcohol, fire, water, positive energy, or some combination thereof. If none of those work, I can keep pounding at it while one of you visits the nearest merchant stall."

As Merisiel earlier hit the creature with a 22, Moe should definitely hit it as he rolled a 23 (+4 for prone opponent is not included yet!).

Brat answers: "If all else fails, use fire. At least that's what I heard somewhere..."

Brat will try to burn it with burning hands... if everyone stays out of her way (see map for the cone template - please keep out of it).
I'll post her next actions now to speed up combat.

Brat's turn:

The gnome moves in a good position for her next spell. She spreads her fingers like a fan, utters a short incantation and a cone of searing flame shoots from her fingertips.

casting burning hands that covers only the creature for fire damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 2, 2) + 3 = 11 +1 force damage (from Havoc of the Society trait), Reflex DC 16 for half


Reaping What We Sow

The group keeps stabbing and pummeling away at the creature, however, it keeps regenerating, foiling their attemps to kill the creature.

Brat steps forward and unleashes a gout of magical flame. The creature flails and howls as it burns. A few moments later, the creature is burnt to a crisp and is finally destroyed.

A rift opens near the ruins. The garden of The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment can be seen beyond.

You hear Ambrus Valsin shouting from beyond the realm of the Tapestry,
"Hurry, Pathfinders! Astral invaders continue to threaten the integrity of the tapestry!”

Please place your PC tokens in the red box on the left of the Garden on Slide 5. All squares are difficult terrain except squares with the purple path, even if there's a tiny amount of purple in the square. The walls of the little fountains/pools are 3 ft high and provide cover (+2 AC & +2 Reflex Saves). I'll get the combat started when I get home from work tonight, about 10 hours from this post.

While others tend to healing, Moe passes around a mug hoping to have time for as many of his allies who are willing and able to take a drink. "The burning sensation in the back of the throat means Caydean's blessing is working." He assures.

Will cast guidance on as many PCs as he can before the next encounter, starting with Moe.

From behind the central glimmering pool strides a broad-shouldered dwarf clad in tattered blue robes, his boots crunching through the thick undergrowth. His eyes burn with fury as he raises a soot-stained hand.

A blazing bolt of fire erupts from his fingertips, streaking toward Ekadan with a hiss of heat and light—

—but it slams into the stone wall of the small pool beside him, scattering sparks across the water. The dwarf snarls a curse, smoke curling from his fingertips as he prepares to strike again.

Aurelia takes aim and fires—her bullet whistles past Brat’s shoulder and slams into the arm of the dwarf in orange. He staggers back with a sharp grunt, clutching the wound as blood seeps through his sleeve.

Without missing a beat, Aurelia reloads and fires again. The next shot from her stonebow punches into the side of the sorcerer in cyan. He howls in agony, doubling over as the impact sends ripples of pain across his face.
"Get those two!" he shouts to the dwarf in yellow, pointing at the girls at the garden entrance.

The dwarf in orange sidesteps through the chaos, his boots grinding against the gravel as he closes in beside Merisiel. With a snarl, he thrusts his spear in a quick, vicious jab, the point flashing in the dim light.
Spear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 221d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 91d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Leaving a gaping wound in her shoulder.

Meanwhile, the dwarf in yellow heeds the call to attack, sprinting along the path of violet stones. His eyes lock onto the women at the garden’s entrance—their ranged weapons ready—as he barrels forward, spear poised for blood.

Ekadan swings again and just can't hit his target. Wow. Yeah. That's some bad luck, Ekadan.

The sorcerer in cyan strides closer to the chaos, his eyes blazing with cruel intent. He raises his hand, arcane energy swirling at his fingertips—then unleashes it in a roaring torrent of fire.

Flames burst outward, washing over Merisiel, Moe, and Ekadan in a searing wave of heat and light. The air crackles, the scent of smoke and scorched earth filling the garden.

Having reviewed the rules, I don't know if granting 1 hit point to Merisiel will stabilize her. Technically, it does not appear to be the same as "healing", but I am willing to be wrong.

If Moe has reason to believe that he can stabilize Merisiel by granting her 1 temporary hit point with the virtue spell, he will do so.
