I may be a little lax in posting for the next couple days -- busy day today, trip to NYC tomorrow and then I'm getting my eyes dilated (for the first time) Monday, so I don't know what effect that'll have.

Eye-dilation is fun, just turn down the brightness of your screen a touch and you should be fine.

First time I had my eyes dilated, I didn't experience any issues. Lately though, I tend to not be able to see real well. Probably well enough to drive, but not so much for reading. The doctor can put some drops in to counteract but that's not guaranteed, IIRC.

Outside is worse, don't spend a lot of time in bright lights or you may hurt your eyes.

I ended up taking a good nap, which seemed to deal with the worst of it. My eyes were dry for the rest of the night, but all good now.

I am here, FYI.

I am having some issues with one of my ears. Last week and early this week I couldn't hear out of one. Found out some wax built up during my ear infection and it basically blocked my ear drum. Since then my ear hasn't lost the congestion it had it while I can hear, still pretty odd and disconcerting. Work has been awful.

I'd say go with spells you think you want to play with. A little of both certainly sounds wise, though.

How many people can I "touch" in one round? For say example, protection from evil?


As many as you're adjacent to when you cast the spell.

Well I think tomorrow I might toss in some more offensive spells to bring some extra stuff during combat. Or figure out something to be a bit more of a threat in combat. Maybe a shield and a morning star and just eat th fact my damage will be bad, but flank is good.

One of the things I want to start using is my runes. Basically, in addition to explosive runes, I have a spell rune that I can draw on the ground and it explodes when any creature wanders in. I am struggling to figure out how to warn you all without tipping off someone else. They last 10 rounds and I can do them 9 times a day and they don't do a ton of damage, but combined with a spell, they might be pretty cool.

any ideas?

The old Ensu tended to use them by being next to a big bad guy, stepping back, putting a rune down, and so "luring" the bad guys to step on them.

I can see that being valid when everyone is level 3 or so and the cleric can influence someone. Not sure how much of an influence the guy doing 1d6-2 is going to be versus the people doing 100s of points of damage potentially.

Perhaps I could lay them down as traps and we could influence the bad guy into them...

It's generally not the damage so much as it is "hey look at me, I'm the little squishy gnome right next to you, and I'm trying to escape! Oh no! Don't let me get away!"

Okay, I feel kinda guilty for ruining that earth elemental's flight now.

I can just imagine it going "YAY! I NEVER get to do this at home! WOOHOO!" And then Siolad the killjoy comes by and says "Nope."

Great. Now I'm picturing a walking hill giving me puppy dog eyes as it floats back down to earth. XD
