Filbert Springbit |
Will take it that the sorcerer is beyond saving or extending any longer in my last post
Filbert leaves the side of the fallen sorcerer, to help the others with the destruction of the mirrors "If they picked the lock in the attic what keeps them lock in with the mirror, locks are meant to keep other out, not you in unless Mistress Cesadia has a brig. And even those are not foolproof."
After the mirrors are dealt with. "They know we are here and likely coming, however it still makes sense going in the dark. The darkness will cover our approach."
DM Fang Dragon |
The sorcerer is dead, in fact the wounds have something curious about them...
Cesadia Wrentz |
Cesadia seems terribly shocked at the deaths of her agents. In a daze she nods, "Yes we must take down all the mirrors." She stares at her hands, "I should have been more careful, I was told one of those murals had appeared on the wall down the ally. I thought nothing of it, but now Beryl and Mishka are dead." Looking you in the eyes she pleads, "You must take the fight to the cult and put a stop to this, before its too late!"
Filbert Springbit |
Studying the wounds Filbert looks up to Cesadia "Do you have anti-toxin around? These wounds are poisoned. I wish I knew how I know but something similar to Black Adder Venom was used.....Bad business that stuff is."
Cesadia Wrentz |
"Uh maybe..." she replies before ducking out to fetch some of her other agents. A few minutes later she returns with three agents in tow, Allard (a gruff older detective), Jocelyn (an attractive young woman with a roguish grin) and Shevan (a slight half elf with a serious expression). She tells Shevan, "See if you can find some antitoxin." Turning to the others she tells them, "We need to take the bodies to the chapel. See if you can find Winter and then borrow a cart. Don't take any chances, use these. I will accompany you when we're ready to transport the bodies." She hands them a pair of silver vials.
Turning to the party she tells you, "I have some more of those vials, enough for one each. They will hide you from view for a few minutes."
She passes you one potion of invisibility each, CL 3
DM Fang Dragon |
About ten minutes later Shevan returns, "I thought we had more but this box is all I could find."
1d6 ⇒ 5
She passes Filbert a dusty box containing five vials labelled Antitoxin, each of which bears the mark of Sentilar Ruoy.
DM Fang Dragon |
Daridella the druid you killed in the cave was known for providing drugs and poison to the black market.
Filbert Springbit |
"Thank you Cesadia, we will use them wisely."
Overhearing Lizzie's comments
"That witch creature at the lake was supplying poisons, that's the most likely culprit."
"I'm ready when you guys are. Of course some rest would be welcome"
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
We will not travel alone again. Indeed, no one should. Two at minimum, more if possible. And not at night if it can be helped.
to Cesadia Agrippa vows We will uproot this menace. It must originate from Iris Hill and to there we will go.
Rest, Pier 19 then Iris Hill
Lizzie "beads" Tamar |
"What is this talk of a minimum of 2?
Heinrich, we're in this together, everyone goes together."
"I digress. Thank you, miss Cesadia. Until we meet again.", and she nods as a goodbye gesture.
DM Fang Dragon |
OK sounds good to me. Where do you intend to rest and what precautions are you taking?
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
We should rest in the same room. Probably at the Sleepless Agency.
And we should set watches.
Luxina Tenebris |
Also perhaps jamming the door as well, though that might backfire as well. We're still in the Sleepless Agency at that point, locking the doors might also prevent us from quickly helping them.
Luxina nods in appreciative fashion to Heinrich's plan.
"Good idea. Let's hope we will not see those assassins anytime soon."
Luxina will take a middle watch.
DM Fang Dragon |
OK I need a list of watches please. It probably makes sense for spell casters to take first & last watches, but up to you. The cult have woken up to your presence, expect shenanigans.
Filbert Springbit |
Apparently uninterupted sleep is not required for the Kineticist, or I missed it somewhere.
"I will take watch when you are finished Luxina, I can shift something heavy over to block the door, it would slow down anyone trying to slip in, unnoticed."
Momijii |
With the fighting done with for now Momijii agreed wholeheartedly in taking down the mirrors. "It would probably be smart to take down or cover anything that reflects an image, just in case mirrors aren't their only way in." When they began to settle in for the night and were given the antitoxin she nodded and slipped hers inside her pack, "Thank you."
Their discussions of travel and Iris Hill brought Momijii into the discussion and she said, "I agree, all or none if it all possible. If we have to split up we should keep one who is good up close with anyone easier to harm at all times." She shifted her gaze towards where the stellae was nearby and said, "Also, I realized something interesting earlier today. The obelisk here," she pointed in it's direction, "has the symbols facing one at the park near Pier 19 and the one near Pier 19 faces it's symbols towards Iris Hill." She gestured first towards Pier 19 and then Iris Hill, "If the one at the Hill matches it will face this one," she pointed at the one near the agency again, "an make a triangle with equal sides." She shrugged then and said, "i don't know if it's important but it seems like it might be."
DM Fang Dragon |
Luxina I know you suggested taking a middle watch, but how about this order for watches? Heinrich, Lizzie, Filbert, Momijii, Luxina.
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
Works for me
Momijii |
Works for me.
DM Fang Dragon |
The website is being very very annoying tonight. It's eaten several posts.
The evening passes quietly enough, although there is an undercurrent of tension, the cult has woken up to your presence. The Sleepless agents get their fallen transported to the chapel where Winter administers a blessing and starts the preparations for a funeral.
Night falls and the first few watches pass without incident beyond some strange noises outside like tortured animals, this isn't unusual for the town of Thrushmoor never sleeps soundly even at the best of times... It was during Filbert's watch that the presence was first noticed, albeit at a distance. He suddenly had an overwhelming feeling of being watched and he broke out in a cold sweat with his heart racing before suddenly the malign presence receded. Later during Momijii's watch it suddenly returned with a vengeance and to her horror she saw something awful float though the wall, seemingly heading towards the sleeping bodies of her friends!
Momijii we are now in rounds. You are awake and can act.
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa |
Yeah its been screwy since last night CST
Momijii |
Momijii missed the first occurrence of being watched as she was sound asleep but the second time during her watch caught her immediate attention. She wasn't about to let it attack her friends unharmed and so gave a yell of, "Spirit in the room!" Her warning delivered she adopted her stance and moved to attack the ghostly thing.
unarmed strike w/ds: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 251d8 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8
Considered magical as I have ki points.
Luxina Tenebris |
Apparently the forum seemed it worthy to sign me out time and time again.
regarding watches, works for me too.
Perception to notice shouting?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
DM Fang Dragon |
I can't find rules for waking sleeping people up. In real life a shout and sounds of combat would definitely wake me up but I'd be groggy for a few seconds. Lets say Momijii's warning worked but nobody is in armor (unless you have some way to deal with the problems of sleeping in armor) and it takes you 1d3 ⇒ 1 rounds to wake up.
Momijii lands what should have been an excellently judged punch, but her hand sails straight through the apparition! She did feel a slight tug of resistance but the punch seemed to have no effect.
around her. There's the gleam of madness in her eye... Heinrich that applies for your ability regardless of whether you make this check.
Touch?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15Charisma Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1 <--- HIT
Momijii you feel a clouding of your mind as her be-tentacled hand sweeps through you. You're holing it together for now, but you felt a touch of the void - as if a sliver of your personality was just lobotomized! Due to the strange way Pathfinder works, 1 pt of charisma damage has no mechanical side effects although the next point will.

@Everyone please roll a will save, make it good this is a madness check. Being woken up and attacked in the middle of the night by an incorporeal tentacled eldritch horror that's highly resistant to damage is not good for the psyche!Filbert Springbit |
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 +2 more if considered some kind of illusion Don't think that is going to help enough
Sleep hadn't come well to Filbert after Momijii took over for him, something dark crept through the night. With dreams of ever deepening shades of blackness gathering round, the jeweler responded with blast after blast at first but they just passed effortlessly through with no apparent damage caused. Fleeing once more, Filbert runs down a hallway with only enough light seeping in to keep from hitting the furniture, an inky black fog can be seen seeping around the corner. "Spirit in the room!"
sitting upright Filbert looks around confused, was the scream part of the dream or reality that had woken him....
Lizzie "beads" Tamar |
This doesn't fall into the Fear category?
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
"...mmm, what?"
(blinks twice)
"A Spook! A tentacle spook!"
Lizzie gets up and picks up her mace.
No use in wielding a shield vs touch attacks anyway.
Luxina Tenebris |
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Uh-oh
Luxina wakes up with a yawn and troubled blurry eyes.
"What in Pharasma's name are you talking ab... AAAHHH!! Get away, get away, get away!"
She screams as she scrambles for her belongings and equipment to either flee or fight, she hadn't decided just yet.
DM Fang Dragon |
I guess I'll give Momijii a little bit longer.
Momijii |
Remember if it sails through because it's incorporeal the attack is considered a magic weapon and only does half damage instead. the DR probably eats that up though.
Momijii stared in shock as she realized that her fist went through it. Then she felt the thing reach out and sap something from her, her personality dribbling away, and she dodged back out of range.
Withdraw.
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
+2 if it is a fear/sleep/paralysis effect.
DM Fang Dragon |
With Momijii out of the way the apparition floats several inches off the floor towards Filbert, Cackling madly as she does so. She leans down to swipe at him, and just like Momijii her cankered hand passes right through the little Gnome.

Will Save with Inspiration: 1d20 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + 5 + (6) = 24
Agrippa rolls over and grabs for Red Destiny.
By the Lady's grace! he swears, the closest thing to a curse you've ever heard him say.
Agrippa looks around and grabs his pouch of formulae...he knows not how he will best such a creature.
Move draw weapons, look for his formulae.
DM Fang Dragon |
Probably worth making a Dungeoneering roll if you can.
Luxina Tenebris |
Luxina in her haste to see if she can do anything against this thing, draws her crossbow and fires a single bolt.
So what was the will save for?
Ranged Attack, PBS: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8
"Shoot.. Shoot... arrows don't hurt this thing at all.... Keep it together, keep it together..."
Luxina mumbles to no one in particular.
Filbert Springbit |
Seeing the creature Filbert for a moment wasn't sure if he was awake or not, but when it's hand passed through him, a cold icy pit formed in the pit of his stomach. In revulsion Filbert steps back and tries to hit the creature with a blast to send it elsewhere.
kinetic blast: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Dungeoneering: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (19) + 7 + (5) = 31
Lizzie "beads" Tamar |
Touch attacks... a martial's bane.
Lizzie steps up to Filbert, unsure of what to do with something like this.
What modifier do i add to my roll for an aid other here, just my BaB?
Aid Filbert's AC, bab: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
DM Fang Dragon |
You'll find out about the will saves later ;)
Luxina's crossbow snaps and the bolt pings off the wall seemingly having had no effect, perhaps her aim was poor.
From behind you hear creak open and Cesadia gasp, "By all that's holy." she darts back into her office to fetch something.
Lizzie decides that defending Filbert is the best course of action and readies herself to interpose.
Terribly frightened, Filbert sends a powerful blast through the apparition's center of mass. Somehow he was sure he managed to hurt it, although there where no visible wounds.
