Though Lathander was his deity of choice, Lady Luck's benevolence could only help the group with the task at hand, so Zane nodded his agreement with Kardas's plea. Hearing nothing and greatly aware of Delenn's worries about a new pack of the hounds, the priest eagerly stepped forward with the others as they navigated this new level of the twisted Library, eyeing the cavorting angels nervously, mace in hand.

Zane started to look about as Ser Armithia and Azarra stated that evil was present and moving about just beyond their senses. The priest wanted to head South and once again adjust the angel heads to proceed to the deepest level of the Library, but wasn't sure if waiting for the nearby baddie to show itself would be prudent. Then again, if they didn't press forward, they'd likely have the hounds to contend with, as well. "Let's press forward...I don't like this much better than anyone else, but if we stay put we might have two enemies to contend with..."

The evil that Ser Armithia senses is to the east! Only Azarra spotted it at first, but suddenly you see hanging from the ceiling a sinister being the color of spilt blood whose outline wavers and shimmers. This lean limbed horror has eyes like embers and a sneer full of needle-thin teeth that gleam from an unmistakably fiendish visage. A pair of crimson wings sprout from the back of it's hairless humanoid form, fluttering silently like an assassin’s cloak, while in one hand it clutches the twisted, dagger-like horn of some infernal terror!

It's a Salikotal Demon!

Prince-killers and assassins of souls, salikotals serve as the bloody chisels by which the lords of Hell subtly shape the mortal world to their whims. Soaring through the night on silent wings, these murderous devils care nothing for life or reason, knowing only a single, murderous goal. Cloaked by shadow and silence, few ever glimpse the sharp features of a salikotal, for Hell’s death-dealers reveal themselves only amid the haze of fading life.

Lean, deft hunters, salikotals move like terrible predatory birds, each taloned step measured, cautious, and full of deadly intent. Protected by an armor of sharp, thin scales, these agile devils universally stand 5 feet, 4 inches tall, and weigh 85 pounds, their barbed frames supporting the breadth of their 8-foot-wide, bat-like wings. They have full control over their slender tails, nimbly manipulating objects and even wielding deadly, Hell-forged blades in these dexterous, prehensile appendages.

Grinning with malevolence, the devil barks something in infernal and suddenly the lights go out! Unless you have darkvision, you can not see.

Suddenly the area brightens, although the mist is still there almost swallowing Delenn. You see in her hands the smoldering remnants of a scroll, a nasty wound in her side and blood all over the floor, with the devil between you and her hanging down from the ceiling. You can still hit it in melee although you have 20% miss chance due to blur. Rolling low = miss.

The devil runs along the ceiling before battering her wards aside to plunge it's awful horn like dagger deep into her upper chest! Her blood sprays at it rips it out, and the devil cackles with glee!

The ceilings are 15' high. It's a good 7' tall so you (well those in melee) can attack it's head reasonably enough.

As Delenn was on the other side of the hell-spawn and beyond his reach, Zane strode forward with the more effective fighters, Kardas, and Ser Armithia, and swung his mace upwards towards the fiend's head. (I didn't roll a miss chance because it is a 15 foot cone area effect, which I don't think would be affected by blur, but I can if you determine I need to. Also didn't roll spell resistance, because it is just the second wave of the same spell.)

Sorry guys, Epiphany is a very important day here and I've been crazy busy.

Kn Planes: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Ishta can see perfectly due to her strange gifts, but she knows her companions are not a lucky and some of them have already asked for a solution. Trying to discern which scroll has Delenn in her hands, she teaches for one of her own papers, reading its magic runes in the hopes of bringing light to the situation.

The lingering remnants of Azarra's spell continue to reverberate against the Demons tough hide although he barely seems to notice.

Kardas casts a spell whilst dodging the Devil's claws and he slashes powerfully cutting through the Devil's tough hide although the cut wasn't as deep as he expected... His spell however fizzles into nothingness.

Zane's mace flashed out towards the Devil, but almost contemptuously it shifted slightly and the mace passed by harmlessly.

Ser Armithia was in an invalid square, I moved him to the closest valid position.
Ser Armithia's sword however could not be denied and with a sizzling flash it cut deeply through the Devil's hide, exposing bone and cauterizing flesh!

Wounded, Delenn backs up and barks her wands command word and a thin beam of intense heat sears into the Devil, but this just seems to enrage it!

The Devil snarls and rams it's dagger into Ser Armithia's neck, narrowly missing something vital.

Third (and last) round of Sonic Scream:

DC 15 reflex save for half, though not sure how that could get much worse. Also, Kardas is in the way of the end of the spell this time, and she can't move anywhere to avoid that (unless I am reading the weird black parts of the map wrong), so he needs the save too.

She shoots a blunt arrow at the devil each round as well

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 = 10 (fail)
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 = 15 (possible fail, but not sure?)

But trying to shoot with all of this loudness inside of her was too much for her to handle, and both arrows went off in wild directions, luckily not harming her allies.

Zane felt the surge of power and energy from Ishta's sorcery flow through him, his hand tightening upon the grip of his mace before he swung it down with power he could not have managed on his own.

I think there's usually a minimum of 1 damage, so it's not worth rolling a save for Kardas.
Kardas finds the lingering effects of Azarras scream to be most unpleasant and a thin trickle of blood leaks from his left ear.

Azarra fires several arrows at the Devil, but they simply bounce off it's incredibly tough hide.

Kardas completes a spell and his blade fortified by it flicks out, but the Devil's outline is wavy and insubstantial and his first strike hits only air as does his second one.

Zane similarly found his mace confounded by the Devil's enchantment.

Delenn clearly on her last legs dribbles blood as she fumbles with her wand. After a moment she stammered out the command word but missed by several feet.

Zane breathed a quick sigh of relief before holding aloft his holy symbol and allowing the warmth of Lathander's grace to flow over the party, healing some of their wounds.

The priest then moved to Delenn's side, continuing to grasp the rosy disc as he spoke a quick prayer to the Morninglord, another personalized healing spell flowing into the elven wizardess. No matter what else she might be, the woman had proven her mettle in combat and her quick thinking had likely prevented far more injury in the fight with the hell-spawn.

Afterwards, the young man glanced back towards where the group had come from before speaking, "Let's continue on and hope that creature was one of the last..." The cleric didn't believe it, but staying put wasn't really an option.

Ishta grabs Delenn's arm immediately when she sees the demon exterminated. "Delenn! Are you alright?"


Ser Armithia who where you healing? Both yourself and Delenn have taken a battering.

Zane's healing magics bring back a hint of color into Delenn's cheeks, although she still looked pale and drawn and winced when she moved.

Softly she replied to Ishta, "I... I don't think I've been so close to the edge before. That monster's eyes where unsettling, the way it sneered as it stabbed me. I don't know if I shall ever sleep again." Understandably she seems really quite upset by the experience and is shaking softly.

You're certain she's telling the truth, but there's more. You know she was expecting trouble but she was genuinely surprised, shocked even to have been attacked by a Vengeance Devil.

She reaches out to touch her (spell like ability, so don't actually need to cast), but pauses for permission. For all she knows, Delenn *is* evil even though she helped them, and she doesn't want to make things worse for her.
