Ser Armithia-Seendren |

oops miss that Semse Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Ser Armithia nods to Azarra. He leads that direction.
@Ishta: may we get Message cast on the group? It's a nice communication spell. My casters always keep it running.

Kardas Rasalas |

Kardas groans when he hears the howling hounds. "Hmrm, what kind of dog can sustain itself whilst being locked in a basement? No, don't answer that. Best get ready to chop them to bits. Alright, give me a second ... okay, I'm good to go."
Spell recall - use 1 spell pool point to recall Shocking Grasp

Zane Levallis |

Zane could only agree with Kardas' views on the matter at hand, warily going down the hall with Ser Armithia and the others. Mace in hand, he kept a watch out for whatever was howling and approaching.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Ishta Khosiv |

Nice idea, Ser A! You can see I rarely play arcane casters :P I'll do it when I have level enough to affect the 6 of us, I don't want to exclude Delenn just like that.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
"I can't hear anything about a howl."

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

You can affect 4 of us, including yourself; so all of the Watchers.

Azarra |

We're moving north. I moved us forward on the map.

Kardas Rasalas |

The Raumathar would never say it out loud, but deep down inside he knew that whatever lurked in these blasted halls was worth fearing. Leather croaks as gnarly hands choke the sword hilt, knuckles growing pale.

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

Ser Armithia moves with grace that only an elf can display while wearing his golden full plate. The Paladin confidently leads the group; his Aura of Courage guarding his friends from fear.

Delenn Moonbean |

The bookshelf lined corridor opens out into a large area of stacks, you get the sense a northern corridor probably runs east to west. Ahead on the right wall you spot a large dark mirror which is bordered with angelic figures frolicking with dogs and other benign animals. The mirror is 5 feet wide and 8 feet high, and seems to be made of polished steel. The mirror is marked in blue on the map.
"Ah" said Delenn upon spotting the mirror, "This is part of the defenses. It summons Agathions should the wards have been raised, I can deal with this." She walked closer and gasped, visibly paling, whispering, "Oh no, no, no. That cannot be!"
For on the other side of the mirror you see a pack of strange hounds rushing towards you. Gaunt and long-limbed they have soulless eyes, toothy maws and move with a predatory grace!
Ishta Khosiv: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Kardas Rasalas: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Ser Armithia-Seendren: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Zane Levallis: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Delenne Moonbean: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Hounds: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
You have one round before they get here. Everyone up, Kardas can post two rounds worth of actions.

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

Ser Armithia immediately steps through the portal, attempting to block any fiends progress.
Move Action: 20' into portal.
The Paladin then concentrates on his Detect Evil as they enter 60' cone.

Azarra |

Azarra says
Delenn, more information would be nice if you have it.
At the same time she is moving into position, bringing her bow up, and taking a shot at the first hound.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Missing when Ser steps unexpectedly in her line of fire.
That's just flavor text for why I missed, not an admonition or anything. I promise I like you being in front. :)

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

I am thinking that--if they ping as Undead from DeathWatch Eyes--then he will instead, Ready Action Attack one once it closes and Swift Action Smite Evil.

Ishta Khosiv |

Not sure if spells would go through the mirror, Ishta decides to stay at her 'safe' position and prepare something for when the dogs step out of it.
Readied Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) + 3 = 13

Kardas Rasalas |

"No, no, no ..." comes out in what's almost a soft mutter. The Raumathar knows well the folly of extraplanar 'defenses' and 'allies', thanks to those Nar bastards and, admittedly, his own blasted ancestors. The uttering of the ancient Nar word "Skydos" is accompanied by a flourish of the swordmage's right pinkie, who then balls his hand up into a fist. Out of nowhere, the sheen of a magical shield spreads out in front of him.
1 - Std action: cast 'Shield' - +4 to AC, applies vs incorporeal, protects vs magic missile. Move action: move 20ft forward. Current AC: 22.
2 - Ready action: attack the first hound that comes within range.
Readied attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Azarra |

Ser it's not a portal per se and you bounce off
Yet another good reason that I missed. :)

Delenn Moonbean |

Kn:Arcarna: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Delenn stares at the mirror aghast, "The wards have been subverted, this must have happened during the occupation. They would have been after the tomes in the secure vault. Some of the knowledge there is very dangerous. In antiquity much of it was spirited out of Myth Drannor before it fell. Topics such as portals, mythals, summonings, names of elder things and gods best left well alone."

DM Fang Dragon |

Kardas casts a warding spell and waits to strike. Likewise Ishta prepares an offensive spell and waits for the Hounds to step through.
Going to give Zane a chance to prepare if needed.

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

A look of consternation crosses the gold elf's face.
He readies himself just in front of the mirror.
Will use previous Readied Action, if allowed?
Bar the exits from this place! None can escape!
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Zane Levallis |

Zane hurried forward, worried look on his face as the alien hounds approached. Reaching forward, he held aloft the rosy pink disc as he touched Ser Armithia shoulder, linking them once again. He cut eyes over at Delenn, but considering the place had been abandoned for five decades he could really blame her ignorance in this matter. His eyes narrowed as he felt there was something she was leaving out, but let it go for now in the face of the coming conflict.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Move forward, cast Shield Other on Ser Armithia

DM Fang Dragon |

Ser I moved your character to a legal position, that meant I had to move Kardas too. HP level at the start where: Azarra 29, Ishta 20, Kardas 27, Ser 41, Zane 27.
With unearthly yipps and snarls and barks, the pack emerges from the mirror in a tumble of fangs and claws! The space in front of the mirror is blocked so they get shunted to the nearest available space. No AOO for that sorry as it was a teleport style effect.
Kardas's blade was ready for them and it slices deeply into one of them, causing it to howl piteously. Surely it couldn't take too many hits like that!
Ser Armithia's blade sings at it leaves the scabbard and it hits with a flash as it bites and sears through the netherworld hounds flesh! If the other hound yelped, this one positively roared in pain as its side was nearly smote in twain!
Hurt and snarling, the hounds that Kardas and Ser Armithia wounded both take a deep breath and expel a wave of corrosive shadow stuff that boils over the party! Kardas and Ser Armithia gasp as the shadow stuff starts to leech the colour away from their exposed skin while poor Zane gets much of it in the face while feeling the backlash from his link to Ser Armithia! The pair of unharmed hounds try to tag team Kardas but his shielding magic rebuffs them.

4 damage; hp was fully recovered. Hp 48/44
Ser Armithia returns a strike at his original target.
+1 bastard sword, smite: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 2 = 211d10 + 4 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 10 = 24
Apologies; we are level 4--not 5--so, only +8 damage. I owe you 4Hp from two hits.

Azarra |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Azarra has no idea if Delenn is telling the truth, but is still worried that she lied about where she was from and knows she is up to something. She thinks about confronting her, but ... now is assuredly not the time, as some creepy dog things teleport in next to her! She drops her bow, drawing her longsword and swinging at Red.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
She misses because she was too surprised to get much power behind the swing.

Zane Levallis |

Zane recoiled as the hounds appeared and the shadows washed over him, leeching the color from his face and leaving him feeling cold as Ser Armithia's pain washed over him, as well. Taking a step back, he managed to keep the presence of mind to threaten the hound between him and Azarra while letting Lathander's grace wash over the party, making sure to exclude the wounded animals.
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7

Kardas Rasalas |

"Take out the one amidst us first!" Kardas pivots on his right heel and strikes, but whatever word of power was about to leave his lips, never quite manages to do so.
Full-round action: Spell Combat (cast Touch of Fatigue, concentration DC 15, +1 extra attacks, -2 to hit on all attacks)
Concentration check vs DC 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Attack vs blue (purple?): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Damage 1: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Spell fizzles, no second attack as such.

Ishta Khosiv |

There was a Magic Missile also at the ready.
Ishta decides to help Zane eleiminate the Blue dog, since it could end up being a real threat backstabbing Ser and Kardas.
Magic Missile vs Blue: 3d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) + 4 = 13

DM Fang Dragon |

Ishta's spell tears into the shadowy hound in front of her, it screams as bits of it's body dissolve into shadow mist where her missiles strike. Meanwhile Zane invokes The Morninglord's name and a rosy pulse of light washes over you alike a balm, soothing your wounds.
Selective channel: Benefit: When you channel energy, you can choose a number of targets in the area up to your Charisma modifier. These targets are not affected by your channeled energy. Zane which two hounds will you exclude?
Delenn decides to follow Ishta's lead and she too conjures a volley of miniature missiles which burst over the hound causing it to howl in pain once more!
Magic Missiles: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 3) + 4 = 11
Azarra attacks but her aim was wide and she misses by a good foot or more.
Ser Armithia fulled by the stern stentorian judgement of Bane finds the shadowy hound in front of him wanting, and with a great sweep of his blade he decapitates it with a flash and sizzle of cauterized flesh!
Kardas sagely advises taking down the hound in their midst but it gets battered around from Ishta and then Delenn's spells, foiling his strike.
The remaining hounds act with savage cunning, to tackle dangerous opponents as a team. Two of them yip and snarl at Kardas, their fangs dripping corrosive shadow stuff. When they dart in as one, Kardas manages to flinch away from one but the other bites down painfully upon his ankle! The one that missed turns to snarl at Ser Armithia, distracting him as the one from behind manages to find a weakness in hit armor. Zan gasps as he shares the pain of the mauling Ser Armithia received!
Red vs Kardas (flanking): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 = 21 Damage inc shadow dmg: 1d8 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (5) = 8 <--- HIT

Kardas Rasalas |

Kardas nearly goes berserk when the foul hound bites him. Spittle flies from his lips as he yells at the beast, "Dogs don't run with horses!"

Zane Levallis |

Ser, make sure to take only 5 of that, please.
Zane gritted his teeth as Ser Armithia's pain was once again his pain, though the gold elf's powerful strike to fell one of the beasts did bring him pleasure. Raising his mace, he tried to help Kardas and the wizards bring down the middle hound.
Heavy Mace, flank: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 = 13 Boo...
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Azarra |

Azarra starts singing to bolster everyone's courage, including her own.
+1 to saving throws against charm and fear effects and +1 on attack and weapon damage rolls

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

Eliciting absolutely no response from the Paladin, the tiny nibble from the cute puppy fails.
Turning his attention to Blue, the knight brings down his bastard sword.
+1 bastard sword, inspired: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 1 = 271d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13

DM Fang Dragon |

Ishta's spell rakes out towards one of the hounds but they move with preternatural speed and grace and she can't get a bead on them. Neither it seems can Zane when his mace misses the hound despite his bets efforts.
Looking tired now, Delenn elects to use a wand rather than cast any further spells. She whispers something you don't quite hear and a ray of fire lances out. But to her obvious annoyance it misses just as Ishta's ray had.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 <--- MISS
Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 5) = 17
Trying to keep your spirits up Azarra starts singing and her words put a spring in your step!
Ser Armithia however it seems has little trouble hitting the hounds, and his sword bites deeply into the one in the middle almost cutting it in half. Horridly the hound was still alive despite having the coils of it's entrails exposed and spilling out! Surely it can't last for long...
There is no Purple, I assume you mean blue.
Kardas manages to cast a spell while going toe to toe with the pair of hounds. His first strike hits nothing but his second one strikes the hound injured by Ser Armithia, finishing the job. Now cut completely in twain the hound's legs twitch while the head thrashes feebly about.
Purple: Save vs fatigue DC 12: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 <--- PASS
Enraged by the loss of their pack mates, the remaining pair of hounds focus their efforts on the Rasmiri swords man but into his battle stride, he proves to be too slippery for even them to catch!

Zane Levallis |

Ser Armithia is a murder machine!
The creature in the midst of the group having been destroyed, Zane stepped forward and called upon the Morninglord for help in eliminating the fell beasts that continued to harry the party. Touching Kardas, he released the positive energy into the Rashemi, invigorating him and helping to guide his sword arm.
5' step, then use Touch of Good on Kardas. +2 sacred bonus on attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round.

Ishta Khosiv |

I forgot to add the Inspired bonus, but I don't think it will matter anyway.

DM Fang Dragon |

Ishta sends a pencil thin beam of utter cold that would have seared one of the hounds if it had hit.
Zane calls upon Lathanders aid to invigorate and guide Kardas's strong sword arm!
Delenn tracks one of the hound with her wand and whispers the command word. A beam of searing fire spits out, causing the hound to yelp in pain!

Kardas Rasalas |

My apologies. Wanted to post yesterday, but got caught up in RL.
Sometimes, the line between sane and insane blurs a little when Kardas loses himself in combat. It's a cultural thing. "Ha! Scurry back to yer otherworldly masters!", the Raumathar yells as he munches on a thick ancient Nar word of power, adding arcane might to his flurry of strikes.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 10

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

Inspired bonus applies to range touch attacks also...lol. Azarra is kicking hound butts! Bards do lots of damage.

Growing pale as the essence of shadow washed over him yet again, Zane decided he had had enough of the hounds. Calling upon Lathander's grace, he touched Ser Armithia upon the shoulder this time, bolstering his already-keen combat ability with a bit of divine skill before the cleric retreated down the hallway and out of range of the devastating breath weapon of the final beast.

Ishtas's spell only just hits but it scores a frozen arc across the hound, leaving a mark like whiplash.
Zane invokes The Morning Lord to encourage noble Ser Armithia but the knight manages to slip on the spilt blood and ichor which ruins his pass.
