Oooh, I like them all!

Question to Warren, I really, really like the Questions bit in your backstory. Can I acquire your permission to use them for some of my future characters, hopefully just for the ones that I don't have enough of a feel for?

It was between the MW thieves' tools or a chain shirt. Tools seemed to fit the niche better, and if between the slayer and brawler they need me up front, we've got problems 1 point of AC won't fix.

I didn't see anything, so I'm assuming that Joza passes muster for now? :)

Very nicr. I do work a lot, but even if I'm at work I can make posts using Wayfinder (best 2 bucks I've spent in a while). And while Ausk is a late submission and likely won't be selected (but I hope he is, fingers crossed), I hope its a fun game for everybody that does get in.

Joza Fersig wrote:

Yes, Joza, sorry! You're good to go.

And Haru I'm not making any decisions at all yet, just making sure people have their mechanics right at the moment.

I want to give everyone a fair shake since the deadline to submit is Friday (which, given the number of responses - and good ones! - may have been too long).

Bah hard to keep track of everyone...shame no one is doing the list all the characters and link them...

That was subtle right dm?

Lol

Grand Lodge

Ok. This is an actual alias for Figit Chemlight. Reviewed everything from that PFS character that was played only once. Should have everything up to snuff for submission.

Once again this is a typical gnome prankster, which will hopefully add some comic relief to the game (if chosen). He also will know EVERY language eventually.

GM:
Figit Chemlight and Fronar Gossamar are both submissions from same player, so if you choose to invite one of them, please omit the other.

Thank you for your consideration

MiniGM wrote:

I'll do it, since I have a bit of free time at the moment.

Character Submissions:

Culder "The Captain" Hargraves, an anchor wielding, disagreeable parrot heaving human fighter.

Galean "Rafter" Santiago, Storm Druid, strapping young man and master seaman. Shameless self-promotion.

Nymph, a wereshark ranger, only a little bit more unhinged than the average pirate.

QuinthalasA peg-legged half-elf sorcerer, with a roc animal companion. Or just a really, really big parrot.

Fronar Gossamar, an actual good Robin Hood-esque figure, fighting with two kukris.

Cordelia De Fiore, a Sea Singer Bard, running from the navy in quite a different way than all others.

Wiles Malloy, a dashing rogue with a tender heart and a passion of climbing on top of EVERYTHING!

Jord Sturmsson, a strong and patient cleric of Kurgess.

Warren Redmont, a sorcerer with a tendency to light his ship on fire, and general purveyor of fine bad luck.

Joza Fersig, a catfolk traveller, hoping to see the Varisian Dream.

Figit Chemlight, gnomish prankster and explosives afficionado.

Nina Azar, an Ifrit Skald, leader of men, and a hot dame. hur-hur

Yuki Okano, cursed with the powers of an oracle, and a pirate for life.

Ausk Green, a Shark Shaman, orc street ganger, and a fan of giant sea monsters.

Meek, a ratfolk cook and alchemist. His gumbo packs a punch.

MiniGM's Sylph Wizard Submission, a wizard trying to harness the powers of air, water and wood in order to become a galley himself. Or not.

I'm terribly sorry if I missed someone. I tried my best to give one sentence sums of the characters in one sentence, and tried not to be offensive. Good luck to us all, and may the gods of recruitment be kind.

Figit, thanks, I'll update everything I have.

Yes MiniGM, that was super subtle, especially since I was sleeping when it was posted. Thanks Galean for linking everyone.

Yeah, thankies Galean! :3

No problem all! I didn't classify them on role, because of two reasons, first one hybrids, such as alchemists, druids or clerics being hard to classify, the other being me forgetting I can do that.

Yea buddy...Galilean rolled a nat 1 on his save vs suggesstion!

Also hilarious about becoming a galley

Yes thanks for compiling that info!

** spoiler omitted **...

Missed me with Daribaldi, Human Rogue-Pirate Pressganger

DM, here is the alias of my wood wizard

I removed the scroll of mage armor.
I added some tricks to familiar.
I bought a flask of acid.

Feel free to use my questions to flesh out characters. One of the dms that marooned me at least left me those questions :-)

I apologise to our pressganging rogue . I'll re-do the formatting tomorrow, and add any new people that could've shown up as well.

Figit - I'm having some issues with your gear, as an alchemist you start with 180.00 gp max, then when you subtract for the following:

Lamellar Armor - 60.00 gp
Alchemist's Kit - 40.00 gp
Flask - 0.03 gp
Magnet - 0.5 gp
Marbles - 0.1 gp
Vial - 1 gp
Morning Star - 8 gp
Dagger - 2 gp

I show you should have 68 gp, 3 sp, and 7 cp (68.37) which isn't enough to buy a longbow (75gp) and 20 arrows (1gp). Also, you need to pick a third trait!

Warren - thanks for the updates, everything looks good.

Ayre - taking a second look Resilient and Reactionary are both Combat traits. I don't see anything about getting a trait in the same category with the Extra Traits feat, am I missing it?

Also, you have four scrolls - after the rest of your gear and with max starting gold (120 gp for wizards) I show you'd have 15 gp left before scribing scrolls and presuming you made them yourself, the materials would cost 12.5 gp wouldn't they?

Galean - thanks again for putting up the post to keep the characters straight.

Anything else I might need to add or you think needs fine-tuning? Getting done this early before the cutoff date always makes me anxious :3

Nymph - not that I can see although I understand (and have shared) that anxiety.

I'm going to go ahead and announce that cutoff is not just Friday, 2/27/2015 but 5:00PM Central on 2/27/2015 - this will give me enough time to review everyone one last time and get my decision up by Saturday morning. Hopefully that doesn't put anyone out too much.

Nooooooooo!!!!!

I guess no sleep and lots of caffeine doesn't promote "attention to detail". The issue was I actually calculated AC using wooden armor, but forgot to change it on the alias. Problem solved. Plus it's buoyant in case Fidgit gets tossed overboard.

I will have you know that this is entirely upsetting to me and you can expect a horse head on your pillow in the morning.

*goes back to being entirely done with her sheet and not needing any extra time*

Figit - that works, thanks!
Nina - Ha, like one more would phase me.

Decided to spend her additional GP after all, since she's still pretty far below a medium load and I could stick some trickster-ey stuff onto her sheet that really shines at low level. This is based off of the 56 GP left from when I'd miscalculated earlier.

Additional spending:

3x Caltrops - 3 gp
2x Smokestick - 40 gp
Spring-loaded Wrist Sheath (for her Thieves' Tools, with the other being for her dagger) - 5 gp
8 gp remaining

Added a background and some equipment before a precocious 2 year old attacked me.. posted this quickly..... arg...

Less than 24 hours til recruitment closes! Hopefully only about 36 hours til we find out... cue dramatic music

Well hopefully it's not that dramatic.

But here's some theme music for you all just in case you need it.

Although question for Autark - I got your character nugget but no sheet - were you planning on submitting before the deadline?

That should be it for Jord.

Here's a song to wait by

A bit more fun, but here's a bit of Alestorm.

Best of luck to all in the home stretch.

WAGGGGHHHHH!

Good Luck everyone!

*crosses fingers*

I am a fan of this one, though I usually have a soundtrack for most of my games.

Also, good luck to all!

Warren's theme song was Sail by Awolnation.

I would have chosen this song, but it is quite dated. I think it stands the test of time, but I still like the Beatles.

Warren's true theme song

Good luck!!

Recruitment is now closed.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Duh dun.

Duh dun duh dun duh dun.

Let the anticipation period commence!

Squawk

Gliding down, a rather surly looking parrot lands amidst the would-be buccaneers.

Cap'n needs wawrk

Go home whistle Go home

"Get outta here ya mangy bird!"

I may be workin' with som'a these people... save the rudeness till the anchor's up a'least...

"Brrrrrrruuuuuurrrrppppppp.... Ha! that was a good one, Say Captain where do I get me a bird like that, he seems right useful"

Hey GM, are you susceptible to bribes? Like, I'll volunteer to keep track of all the party loot on a Google spreadsheet if you pick me? :)

Either way, good luck everyone!

Good Morning all!

I know a lot of you are going to skip this portion to the decision list but I did want to take a moment to first, thank everyone who applied. I know that time and effort goes into building a character and including a history and honestly there's lots of great characters you guy submitted - I wish I could take more of you or had the bandwidth to run a second game. I had two spots but ended up taking six players - which means I'll be tinkering with encounters to make sure they're challenging for you.

So without further ado here are my the players I selected (in no particular order):

Nymph
Galean
Cordelia

Again, I appreciate everyone who applied, and hopefully I'll see you all around the boards.

Note for the players selected:

I'm starting the Discussion thread today and the gameplay thread tomorrow. If you all would like to post a quick hello and perhaps do some interacting with each out before gameplay starts tomorrow!

Yay! Many, many thankies! Can't wait to start gaming with you and the others.

To those who didn't get in don't lose hope! Keep trying and best of luck in all your future games and applications.

Players already making me look bad and the game hasn't started.

Indeed, best of luck in all your games in the future.

Bah! Where's my wine!

Thanks, and indeed, best of luck, and may the RNG gods be in your favor.
