As you continue to advance towards the distant sounds of battle, the more farsighted among you can see a faint light ahead.

DM Carbide |

It only takes two rounds from where you finished off the cube to get to the mouth of the tunnel. The full moon above provides dim light over the area before you, a clearing at the base of the Kortos Mountains.
Map is updated. Anything with green in it is light undergrowth (difficult terrain, concealment). The ledge to the west is twenty feet above the clearing below.
You see Janira below you, still too close to the minotaur for comfort. The creature's axe looks damaged, though it is not significantly damaged itself. Not so the halfling, who is looking much the worse for wear (and more than one axe blow, likely). Despite this she shouts defiantly, "You vile beast! I know not what drives your black heart, but I shall not fail in my duty. I shall see you driven from this forest, back to the hills from whence you came!"
Everyone can take +1 to hit and to damage from her inspire courage.
Round 1:

At the sight of the moonlit fight, Simon charge out of the cave, trying to get into spell range as quickly as possible. As he runs, he barks out strange words of power, then punches the air in front of him with both fists.
”તે નીચે લો”
The dragon tattoos on his wrist flash brilliantly in the dim light and explode from his outstretched fists, roaring as they spiral and streak through the air and crash into the minotaur.
"Hey! Ugly!" the young pathfinder yells as he continues to run. "There's more where that came from!"
Move out of cave, then cast Magic Missile at Meany the Minotaur (range is 130ft with)
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 4) + 2 = 10

Xukong charges downhill with an inhuman shriek.
Double move as shown.

DM Carbide |

I don't think you can get quite that far, Xukong--the last two squares are difficult terrain.

![]() |

Ronan urges Barley through the thick undergrowth. Seeing a small clearing he pulls back on the reins in an attempt to get barley to leap across the river
Double move with 50 foot movement speed on Barley
Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Round 1 (ongoing):
Initiative order
Lo'Raia-acted
Ronan-acted
Ishingka
Yarricki-acted
Xukong-acted
Simon-acted
Minotaur
Janira
The minotaur roars in pain at the missiles' impact, then turns its attention back to the pesky halfling. Ronan spurs his long-suffering horse through the undergrowth and over the fast-moving stream, landing on the other side with a clatter of armor. Yarricki scuttles out of the cave, casting a spell and waving her wasp forward.
Ishingka, then the NPCs!

DM Carbide |

The minotaur chops twice at the valiant halfling. The first blow hits, leaving her reeling but still up...the second, though, lays her on the ground bleeding.
Since she has the Lingering Performance feat, though, you have the inspire courage bonuses for the next two rounds.
Round 2:
Initiative order
Lo'Rai
Ronan
Ishingka
Yarricki
Xukong
Simon
Minotaur
Janira-dying
Party up again!
Axe damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7
Iterative axe to annoyance: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Axe damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 = 11
Stabilize check: 1d20 + 1 - 10 ⇒ (1) + 1 - 10 = -8
Minotaur: taken 10 HP; AC 14 T 9 FF 14

![]() |

Simon hisses in frustration as he continues to close on the minotaur.
”Fine!” he yells before barking out a second power phrase, ”Ignore me!”
Another pair of quicksilver dragons spiral towards the hulking opponent.
Move closer, another Magic Missile.
Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9

DM Carbide |

Hey, you haven't been taunting it most of the night. It'll get to you in time, if it survives Ronan's lance charge.

![]() |

Ronan sets his sights on the minotaur. Lowering his lance he sets Barley into a charge.
Challenge the Minotaur for +1 att and damage
Lance; charge; challenge; inspire courage: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 29
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 13
damage: 2d8 + 12 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7, 1) + 12 + 1 + 1 = 22
Crit Damage: 4d8 + 24 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 2) + 24 = 38

DM Carbide |

Ronan and Barley charge forward as the minotaur turns to face the newest threat, head lowered. The cavalier plunges his lance through the monster's chest and pulls it free as he rides by; a gout of blood pours from the massive wound, and the minotaur falls.
Out of combat! Now all you have to do is keep Janira from dying....

![]() |

When Ronan impales the minotaur, Simon leaps midstride, punching a fist into the air.
"YAAAHHH! What now, minotaur?! More like mino-TORE-UP!"
He's in the middle of raising a hand for a high five when he notices their guide's unmoving form. "Oh, crap! Janira!"
He rushes to her small body, trying to fish out his wand. "Where's one of her potions?"

![]() |

"Ronan, that makes up for it, and here I was about to get minotaur-sized," says Ishingka, half-annoyed, and half-exuberant.
"I have a potion, Simon."
She places it to Janira's lips and pours it down with surprising gentleness, kneeling over the tiny bard.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
She then watches Janira for signs of movement.

DM Carbide |

How long does it take for you to get to her? Also, IIRC Ishingka had a potion of feather step If that's running you can get there a lot more quickly.

![]() |

Aw man! I forgot that my first move could have been further.
If Ishingka Runs, she can get there in 1 full round action. Next round would be pull out potion and administer (and carefully drop Enlarge Potion vial)

DM Carbide |

Given that, you'll probably have better luck just jumping across the stream than trying to balance on the log. I'm good with that as a retcon.
The half-orc sprints down the slope, the foliage that slows everyone else not affecting her in the least. She passes the minotaur as it falls and reaches the fallen halfling. Even with no training in healing, Ishingka can tell that the last blow Janira took is very nearly a mortal one; the halfling has, in fact, stopped breathing. But she still clings to life by a thread, and the curative potion starts her breathing again as the terrible wounds begin to close.
-11 HP, CON 12. Doesn't get much closer.
With that, though, we are done! I'll get a closing post up and chronicle sheets sent out. Is everyone OK with me posting them to Google Drive, like I did with the maps?

![]() |

As long as we can print them from there, sure.
Way to Cavalier, Ronan - and you actually would have done a bit MORE damage due to the Cockatrice bonus to your Challenge!

DM Carbide |

He didn't quite confirm the crit, but the BBEG was already down 19 from magic missiles.

DM Carbide |

Eventually, Janira regains consciousness. "Hey, thanks a lot, all of you! What did you find?" On hearing of your discoveries, she responds, "Great! Now write this all down while it's still fresh in your minds!"
Nothing further interferes with your return to Absalom and the Grand Lodge. Master of Scrolls Kreighton Shane is ecstatic over the information you brought back. Simon and Lo'Rai receive particular commendation for taking notes, but he is pleased with all of you for cooperating well and returning with everyone alive. "And since you did the initial exploration of the cave system for the Society, you can name it!"
Three days later, Lo'Rai and Simon are summoned to the chambers of Master of Spells Aram Zey. Ishingka, Ronan, and Xukong receive a similar summons from Master of Swords Marcos Fabellus, while the gnome druid gets an invitation from Master of Scrolls Kreighton Shane. There, each of you is confirmed as a full Pathfinder field agent, and (should you desire) presented with a wayfinder of your own, personalized with your initials.
Thanks, all, for playing, and I'm sorry for dragging it on for so long--I should have remembered that I'd be out of touch for a fair chunk of June and early July. Chronicle sheets will be forthcoming; I'll post the links in the Discussion thread.
