"Um. Why not."

Cerrus nods in agreement with Ellaeaanda. "We can help you if you help us first. Who is this spider lady? What wrongs has she done to you?"

Cerrus thinks on what he knows of tixitogs - particularly if they known to be cunning and deceitful.

"I don't know much about her. She appeared not too long ago. And she has an affinity for spiders. Or rather, spiders have an affinity for her. They refuse to catch her as their prey. And she prevents me from feasting on them. Soon, I'll run out of food." The creature doesn't replyto the question about the trembling pouch.

Tixitogs can be cunning, but not particularly deceitful.

Ardoinel looks up at the tixitog grimly as the others speak to it.

"She asked you a question: is that pouch full of spiders or some other kind of meat?"

Ardoinel is suddenly very glad Cerrus stopped him from cutting that bundle open.

He looks back up at the tixitog, wondering how much they can trust this creature. It seemed to be the kind of callous that only a creature that is smart enough to talk but still thinks in terms of predator and prey can be, and he wondered if they agreed to leave it, it'd just harm more people, like how that starving bear had wounded Skorp and Venak. “Doubtful the lady would eat you,” Ellaeaanda reassures Resa in a nonchalant voice. “More likely to feed you to her spiders.” She follows behind the stealthy scout at a safe distance, perhaps about fifty feet, so that her magical orbs of light do not give the rogue away, but close enough to come to the arachnophobe’s aid in case of trouble. Meanwhile she warns the others about the spiders’ venomous fangs and ability to throw sticky webs from a distance to immobilize their prey.

map

The tunnel from Voz’s encamping is a long and winding one. Along the way, the path is littered with the bones and torn flesh of the once undead, and the carcasses of several oversized insects. Occasionally, you see a torn spider leg or a left-over chelicerae.

More than an hour into the tunnel, Resa comes across a larger chamber which, unlike the previous ones, is still inhabited.

The ceiling of the chamber is held by two cracked pillars that threaten to break down at any moment, as they are battered and chipped around their whole circumference. The reason for which is obvious to Resa. The passages between the pillars are too narrow for the two giant centipedes that squeeze themselves through them, hitting the pillars over and over with their limbs as they pass.

There is little doubt that swinging weapons around the pillars is sure to bring them down.

I have added a new map, courtesy of Paths to Adventure, who has hundreds of free maps available for download.

The two pillars are hazards.

Sorry, really busy week - but I'm back!

Netkin takes great care not to touch the pouch as he walks around it, even asking Ardoinel to carry the construct to make sure it won't accidentally bump or roll into it.

He shifts from foot to foot as he waits for Resa to come back, throwing nervous glances at the tixitog above.

The more he looked at it, the more it did look uncomfortably like a spider.
