DM-Camris' REIGN of WINTER Part 2: The Shackled Hut (Inactive)

Game Master Camris

SECTION TWO: Strolling through the Howlings
The winter portal has closed, but the heroes now find themselves trapped in the frozen land of Irrisen with an urgent quest—to find Baba Yaga! In order to track down the missing Queen of Witches, the heroes must brave the monster-infested capital city of Whitethrone, where Baba Yaga’s Dancing Hut has been captured and put on display. Will possession of the miraculous artifact lead them to the Witch Queen, or will they die a cold death at the hands of Irrisen’s White Witches?

I have no idea, the ability says nothing about that. I'm guessing it just stacks and he's blinded again. If I know that (I don't right now), I can just dismiss it. I'm not actually giving him my eyes, I'm taking over his affliction. If he gets a new condition that happens to be the same, we're both blind until the duration runs out.

Also, it's confusing to me whose turn it is. Could upstairs be italics so bold is still reserved for the actual initiative count?

Binding Ties (Su): As a standard action, you can touch an ally and remove one condition affecting the ally by transferring it to yourself. This transfer lasts a number of rounds equal to your cleric level, but you can end it as a free action on your turn. At the end of this effect, the condition reverts to the original creature, unless it has ended or is removed by another effect. While this power is in use, the target is immune to the transferred condition. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

you could lock her up in her bedroom and jam the door from the outside. sweep it for weapons or any magic first and be reasonably sure that she'll be ok in there while she's unconscious, though she'll need some tending / care by evening time.

keeping her armor and weapons, and symbol with you, you stow her away safely for now, trial and error shows the feather crystal key doesn't activate the portal in this room, but the crescent crystal key does. At Nadya's urging, you all manage a hot-potato trial with the crescent crystal key:

one of you holds it, and the next person holds out both hands to catch it. as they start to paralyze, they turn their hand over, dropping the crystal key into the hands of the next person. with it you manage a conga-line of teleporting using the crescent key.

you're all back down on the 2nd floor now. there's other rooms to explore. there's a chance the new key would work on the teleporter to Nazhena's chambers, from the mirrored hall. or you can clear this level.

yeah its been about half an hour since barkskin

it snaps and swings at Ten-Penny, biting her and grabbing her, then poisoning her

rolls:

bite +8 (1d6+2 plus grab), 2 slam +8 (1d4+2 plus poison)
bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 211d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
slam: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 171d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
slam: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 211d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

grab: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

poison: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
poison: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
con drain: 1d2 ⇒ 1

12 damage, not poisoned, drains 1 con, ends its turn grappling Ten-Penny

Arwyn concentrates fire on it. (rapid shot, point blank).
shortbow attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 2 + 1 = 21 for a possible 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6 piercing damage.

the skreeching plant keels over.

you catch your breath and search the room. five minutes later you're sure there's nothing useful and nothing hiding.

you cross over to the library

Con Drain... That's nasty. Worked it into my stats so I don't forget that I have it

Ten-Penny moves towards the door and looks it over a bit to see if anything looks funny. Then, with a finger to the lips, she signals for silence, and places an ear on the door to hear if someone is inside.

She then sheaths her blades and takes out her tools.

Er, the Blood Drain ability does damage, not drain, I believe. Might be good to look that up. >_>

indeed. an unfortunate mix of descriptors/game mechanics keywords. 1 constitution damage.

The door lock pops open, you hear a rustle from inside the room, and a familiar voice calls out, "Hello? Are you here with my food? its about time, whats happening out there?"

Giacomo does a double-take.

"Er, hello? Weren't you supposed to be back in Heldren? How did you end up here?"

Arwyn cautiously prodded the door open with her bow and peered around inside.

"Heldren? No, I never made it back through Heldren. My caravan was attacked, I was captured and brought here. They must have planted an imposter. I wondered why no one had come to get me in all this time."

nadya shrugs from the back, mouthing "who is it?" Caladan, Giacomo, and Ten-Penny slowly meet eachother's gazes, silently assessing the situation and seem dubious. it sounds possible to Arwyn and Gondork though.

Ten-Penny scans the room a bit, to see anything out of order. She claims to be a prisoner, does her room give any indication?

"You seem to be awfully familiar with your captors. Usually such people would not tell you anything, but you ask for the situation in the tower."
