You manage to use one of the crystal keys to bring the body back downstairs, and tie her up with the other guards. in a few minutes you're sure everyone is tied securely again and head back up to the dining hall.

moving from the dining room, you cautiously push the door open the rest of the way, it opens easily. beyond them, a long red carpet extends from the western doorway of this mirrored hall between ice sculptuers of twin nymphs with bows, arrows pointed at an open alcove to the east, lit with a blue light. Passageways continue north and south, following the contours of the tower's outer wall, where windows look out over the open courtyard below. somehow the light in the alcove seems fainter, maybe its the darkness permeating the ice from the storm outside.

you check the room out. but you don't know the pass phrase to this teleporter. you search around, and find two broken glass vials on the floor near the teleporter. Arwyn takes a look and surmises that he drank two potions, probably to heal himself, and fled.
labelled doors C1 in the north, C2 and C3 in the south. its a dead end to follow Volan, there's no evidence he went another way.

Hatch told you the command to take you up from this teleporter. Hestrig's key could be for one of these teleporters. I'm guessing no one is handily proficient in Use Magic Device?

"Whelp, no point in gaping at a teleporter that we can't get working without everyone having a key. Maybe if we make sure there are no other people on this floor, that we could convince Hatch to come up here? I mean, he knows all these activation thingies by heart, and to be honest, I forgot them already..."

gondork successfully activates the teleporter blindly. He paralyzes in place as ice begins growing over him. evil gm smile. Gondork you make me so happy sometimes.
you have one round to try to extract him. otherwise he's teleported at the end of the round.
separtely: for my curiosity, i know i said giacomo has the key to the dining hall teleporter, the snowflake key. Who is holding hestrig's teleporter key, the crescent moon key?
For the phrase, you can make an intelligence check to remember the phrase dc 15 if you don't speak skald, dc 10 if you do.

nadya can stay and coach the rest through saying it if you'd like to start going up. if not, you need to try and break him free of the ice before he teleports at phase zero. consider yourselves to have a full round of actions from when gondork initiated the rouond. good luck. >:)

Nadya repeats the phrase in Skald to coax anyone who needs it. Does anyone try to ascend or going to give him a moment? ]
ten-penny searched the bodies and the rooms, will presume she has the crescent crystal key for whatever evil gm curse rolls up next, and i presume giacomo has the snowflake crystal key.

Daunted by Ten-Penny's outburst, Gondork half-heartedly attempts to recompose himself.
I eh.. I don't know, ok, ten-penny!? It just felt... right! Then everything clicked into place, and I was in this throne room type chamber, with a white-haired woman casting spells at me and hitting me with some strange lightning. Be glad it was me and not you who stepped in there.
He then turns to Nadya, feeling more secure with someone who's not a half-orc as well.
It must be the witch everyone is talking about, I forgot her name, nazeehma or something. I doubt she's got more in store for us than she already hit me with, though. I say we go back and break her little icy heart. And her bones as well while we're at it
The nose-picking session that follows is a sight to behold, as is the almost orcish content revealed.
Hmm.. who would win? Gorum, or Sivanah? They would definitely make a great couple...I shall have to ask a cleric when I get the chance.
Oh eh, Giacomo, do you have any more wound closing magic? I can't move my arm.

status: gondork's blindness. he needs one more night's rest to recover. for now he can see very blurry light or dark, but can't make out shapes and things look like they're moving when still. he's still got the blind condition, but is getting used to it. he no longer suffers the -4 on str/dex based skill checks, and doesn't need to make a dc 10 acrobatics check to move more than full speed, he can see fuzzy outlines enough to avoid most obstacles.
@gondork - you attuned yourself to the attentive mirror. Did you leave that with Hatch in case of an emergency downstairs? or did you give it to someone in the group? or do you still have it on you ? you might've said but if you did i missed it.

nadya stops muttering the phrase. and when gondork looks healed and set:
"so. now what? was that the witch who blasted you? Should we try this again now that we're ready? "

Yup, I'm all good once our little friend here asks his silly forest god once more to let him return my sight to me. He must be glad to be of use in harsh times such as these, haha!
He gives Giacomo a smirk and shrugs as if doing him a favor.

presuming giacomo has nothing but a few chastising remarks for gonork, and maybe some healing. you take a short rest ( five minutes ) and catch your breaths. Maybe then he can lend him sight...
Giacomo lends gondork his sight, and Caldadan blesses the group while everyone is gathered. Nadya coaches, and Gondork freezes in place, once again forming a foot thick layer of ice over him, before melting into the floor in one large iceberg a few seconds later. Arwyn counts off a second or two and steps on, repeating the phrase with Nadya and freezes in place too, forming ice, and disappearing like Gondork and so on.
Arwyn, Penny, Nadya can state any action they would like to take while downstairs in the round gondork is frozen.
meanwhile upstairs...
Gondork thaws again, this time seeing the room clearly, A triangle of crossed steel wires runs between three wooden posts in this crescent-shaped room that smells strongly from the bird droppings scattered across the floor. Along the south wall, open windows look down from a dizzying height, admitting a brisk, cold wind. Two doors exit this chamber, one next to a large mirror to the west and another standing between a pair of wooden chests to the northeast.
A white haired woman with an almost blue tinged skin stands a bit away, and ravens perch on the rope, and on her shoulder, weapon in hand, but just raising it in readiness, looking up as she pets a bird perched on her hand with her other gloved hand.
Gondork is up, upstairs.

Giacomo then sticks out his tongue at Gondork.
"Oh, right, wait a minute.."
He taps Gondork again to give his eyesight back, then sticks out his tongue again.
"Wait a minute...."
