Maddok |
The game-date thing is my attempt at keeping track of what everyone is up to. My crafting posts will be for progressively further dates every couple days of real life time.
At some point Maddok will approach Yahirma with a couple requests.
*His enchanted belt is good but he needs something that will grant him the strength of twenty men. Tarvi and Delilee could have drowned!
Enchant Belt to +4 Strength/+4 Constitution
*He finds his cloak often gets in the way during frantic melee. The loincloth of protection the group found would be more appropriate (assuming Yahirma sewed some additional material to it first so that it fully covered the big Shoanti). Queue Andrea...
Enchant Loincloth of Resistance to +4

Oh baby, Resistance is useless! His is the Drill the pierces the heavens!

And I still have 5000gp invested in unspecified business ventures with Derek.
The grand celebration Arael is dreaming of could perhaps bring Derek Keegan's brewery to the forefront of the public mind (people would need drink during a grand celebration), and if that happens to be Appario's investment, too.. :)

Alternatively, he made sure the Hellknights will look like fools for not knowing of the others being involved..
Actually, the conversation didn't go as all like I thought it might.
Appario (and me too, I suppose) is unsure how the Hellknights were going to react to the news, much less how much they knew about it. In addition, I was surprised the Paralictor didn't ask more probing questions about what/where/who, etc.
In addition, I think I was trying to protect the Gardeners from any retaliations from the Hellknights as well...I feel it's unlikely that they would risk war with the Church of Abadar, but I dunno.
The fantasy discussion went like this:
Paralictor: Where did this happen? How did you learn about this?
Appario: Sorry, Paralictor, that is valuable information. The Church looks badly on those who give away such things for free. We Abadarans deal in information. It has value.
P: But I'm in charge of the safety of this City!
A: Yes, I did your job for you. You're welcome.
P: I insist you tell me what you know!
A: I can sell you the information you seek. Our deity demands it.
P: How much?
A: (breaks out ledger) Ah...good...let's talk gold....
P: That's too much!
A: You're also welcome to try to negotiate with the Head Banker. He's aware of the situation and also sell you the details. They are quite interesting. You really wouldn't believe who was really behind it.
P: GUARDS!!!
A: <erp!>

That's somewhat my fault. I had intended to do the "who, what, where, why" deal, but figured I'd leave the door open for Appario to volunteer the information.. and then I forgot to have the Paralictor probe further following the knowledge that Appario spoke the truth regarding the vampire and his own involvement.
I don't think it would end too well for Appario if he ended up being arrested by the Hellknights, though, as suggested by the fantasy conversation :)
Perhaps I'll backtrack to do some of that (it would make sense to probe further). Although.. the Paralictor does have a number of other things occupying his mind at the moment as well.
(Not to mention the increasing risk that someone would recognize Appario (from the ambush where Arael was rescued from going to the Citadel) with each additional minute he spends there!)

Much better! I find it amusing that the Church and the Hellknights may be negotiating for the information therein. But, as an Abadaran, I think that's the way it should be...I think.
I would love to hear the imagined conversation and negotiation between the two factions and what points of (imaginary) law exist that would define what the Hellknights have right to know and what can be sold.
Delightful.
But I'm sure the AP covers this sort of thing, right?
Maddok |
We'll see how Yahirma reacts to his 'love letter'.
I'm going to do another post or two post for Maddok's reunion and then one more for stuff Maddok is forging. After that I'll be good to continue the story.

Don't forget that things are still going on with the Ciucci residence (although there's not much Maddok can do about that until Yahirma posts again) :)
I had hoped to finish the Ciucci business before making a "things that happen" post, but Maddok mentioning the mischievous dolls made me realize I should perhaps make those posts sooner..
Maddok |
I haven't forgotten about the Ciuccis but there's not much else Maddok can do on that front for now.
I look forward to what you have coming!

Ambush at the docks. We were caught in a fog cloud and SEEMEDto be getting things together when we got a 6d6 fireball on us and that was when the front line of mercenaries started attacking us. A new player had her monk on the roof and got pincushioned by multiple archers so we ran off.
Yahirma |
The plan for the Ciucci manor is to buy some time by setting up ritual paraphernalia and performing one or two divinations from the wand to source the haunting and/or determine ways for the wife's spirit to speak without Yahirma exhuming the body and casting a 3rd level spell on the skull. Hopefully a bit of showmanship disguised as professional competence will give Maddok and the real Delilee time enough to return.
From there I can only hope that we can corner the shapeshifter by positioning it next to the real version of whomever it's impersonating.
DM Are |
Since neither Yahirma nor Maddok have mentioned their theory of a shapeshifter being at the heart of matters in the Ciucci household to the butler before now (they whispered to eachother while in his presence earlier), I'm just going to have to roleplay his reaction accordingly :)
Besides, if he had known they had such an outlandish, crazy theory, he probably wouldn't have let them in..

I did forget a couple of things that should be mentioned, which makes sense considering they're not really events:
Yahirma |
Yahirma's list of points yet to address:
- Assist Xerath in divining bloodline concerns
- React to Maddok's return from the woods
- Follow-up with Tarvi, Khazrae, and Delvehaven
- Have a chat with a soon-to-be-animated body
- Respond to Sandor's message
- Do a bit (read: a fair amount) of crafting

He pauses. "At the Midnight Festival, the Lord Mayor wishes to personally honor those who were directly involved. So I ask you for their names once more."
Not quite ready for this yet. I had intended to learn how negotiations went before going back...also needed counsel from the Head Banker. Also, my negotiations with the Lady may lead me back to visit the Banker as well.

Sure; whenever it becomes time to revisit the Hellknights, the post will still be there :)

I think he's still there...our perception rolls were really bad and he took 20 on his stealth. He's still waiting for us to return too...
