Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

I can also work on the map for this encounter, but only tomorrow morning.
Let me know if someone else is working on it, or else i will

I am not working on any maps now. Prepping for a bit of travel this week.

I'll be on and off the intranets for the next 7 days, but it shouldn't affect my posting.

Just posting to say I probably won't be able to make any further posts until tomorrow (Saturday) evening. I might have time to make a post in the morning before work though.

In preparation for going forward after the current combat: How familiar are you with the Council of Thieves campaign? Has any of you read or played through some or all of the modules before?

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Absolutely nothing, never read a module, never heard any spoiler anything of everything

I have never played and know only what is in the players guide. I have played in other adventure paths, but not this one.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Don't know any of the details. I've read most of the Player's Guide, and I have the module PDF, but I haven't read it yet since I'm currently playing it. Read through and running some other APs, though, so I know the formatting and whatnot.

Everyone can level their characters to level 2. The group as a whole receives 2 Fame Points (these will become important later in the campaign); 1 for rescuing Arael, and 1 for doing so without killing any Hellknights.

You can either roll for hit points (reroll 1s) or take average rounded up (3 for d4, 4 for d6, 5 for d8, 6 for d10, 7 for d12).

If you use any material that isn't in the Core Rulebook, please give me a page reference (or PRD-link).

Please post here when you have updated your character so I can look it over.

M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

I prefer to roll, of course if i roll under average i'll keep it (but rerolling "1").Also putting the fave class bonus in HP

Hit die 1d10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 1 = 10

Not bad for a change ^_^

M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

Done with lvl up, only i don't know if i have 2000 (not likely) or 1300 (more probable) xp

Looks good. Remember that you only have 20ft speed when wearing armor.

You don't need to track XP, I'll simply tell you when to level up. That seems to work better for APs :)

M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

Yes, i told the other gm as well, i take in account speed depending on situation at hand.Ok for the xp thing

Excellent.

I'll have my updated character up in about 16 hours...flying home.

DM Are, you're rocking this, btw.

Very freakin' smooth.

Male

I was running in DM J's CoT game; we'd done roughly two more encounters than you had - going bandit hunting.

Semenya's character sheet has been updated. I'm using three things (so far) out of the Advanced Player's Guide:

Alternate Half Orc Racial Trait - Tattoos (gives a Luck bonus to saves)
Half-Orc favored class bonus: Sorcerer
Deepsight (120' Darkvision)

I eventually expect to take Elemental Spell (change spell's damage type to fire) at 5th level. I am tempted to take Ironhide (+1 Natural Armor Bonus) at 3rd. Both are APG feats.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

I'll roll for Hp
Hp:1d8 ⇒ 8
The only thing out of core books is that Derek was planing on taking the brew potion feat later and brew a lot of Hero's brew (From the second darkness players guide)

Male Aasimar Druid 2

I'll join Arodio on the HP thing.

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Also respectable. I'll keep that. Stats adjusted for level 2. No additional wealth aside from what we liberated from the Hellknights, I'm guessing?

Nothing out of APG as of yet. I'll let you know if/when that happens.

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Updated my yahoo.

Took average hp, now at 16.

Took me some Kn(Rel) and Kn(Nob) as I get to know the city.

-Pain

p.s. Arodio, don't forget to take into account your armor check penalty when calculating your skills.

M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

I take in account the check penalty individually every time it is needed. I don't write it in the skill because i don't ALWAYS wear the armor

Derek: Flat-footed AC should be 14 [you don't lose shield bonuses when flat-footed]. Which perform skill did you choose for versatile performance?

Eklektos: Hit points should be 16 [+1 additional for favored class]. Perception should be +10 also in the "basics" tab. The +2 acid, cold, electricity are resistances rather than save bonuses.

Appario: Flat-footed AC should be 16 [you don't lose shield bonuses when flat-footed]. BAB should be +2, CMB should be +5, CMD should be 18. It looks like you already used the correct BAB for your attack bonuses though.

Everything else looks good. Semenya is going to get some nice damage out of those fire spells eventually, it looks like :)

I did factor in the additional +1 from favored class. At first level I burned that on a skill point instead. I completely missed the Perception in the Basics tab, though. The acid/cold/electricity are +2 save bonuses because DM CH-P had wanted us to use the weakened versions of Aasimar/Tieflings. Should I swap that back to Resistance 5, leave them, or make them Resistance 2?

I see. In that case, you can just keep them as is, unless you want to swap the save bonuses for +2 resistances.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

I shall take the offer of resistances with many thanks. I much prefer them to saving throw bonuses. :)

Fix't.

Thanks.

Male Human (Azalanti) Hp: 96/110, AC: 30 Bard 8/Fighter 4

Right, fixed the Ac, typed in the versatile performance skill chosen, and also moved a skill point from ride to stealth; I had planned on taking stealth before but forgot. All should be in readiness now.

DM Are wrote:

Yeah. At 5th and 6th level, Semenya starts getting scary. Her starting fireball is 6d6+9.

Flaming Magic Missile is 1d4+5 per missile for a 2nd level spell. At 5th level, 3 missiles is 3d4+15 = 21 damage, which is about the same damage she'd get out of Scorching Ray at that level (4d6+6), longer ranged, and doesn't miss.

Flaming Acid Arrow is 2d4+5 damage per round for a 3rd level spell. (What are the penalties to Stealth when covered in napalm?)

Both are broadly futile against anything with 10 fire resistance, and shield will still stop the Flaming Magic Missile.

A pity most devils and demons are fireproof. :)

Male Human (Taldan) Abadaran Militant 12

Just a quick list of rumors, leads, and whatnot. Just organizing:

1) Hagwood. It's not safe.

2) Emerlos, apprentice blacksmith, is having issues with thugs. Wouldn't mind changing to the 'protection' of the Church of Abadar.

3) Tarvi, daughter of the jeweler, might be looking for a secure locker.

4) Shadowbeasts! Bounties offered by Bluehood.

5) Dottari, Caravans, Guards. Someone is paying off the guards *not* to go after the bandits.

Am I missing anything?

Eklektos Apofysi wrote:

Nothing beyond that, no. Which does put you behind the guidelines at the moment. I will have to do something about that eventually :)

Here is a map of Westcrown made by a forum member. The Shrine to Aroden is in the southwest part of the city.

Male Aasimar Druid 2

We could always go slay a dragon or two to get us up to speed. Dragons generally have hordes of stuff. :)

Or maybe dealing with some of these bandits outside the city? The ones the dottari won't touch? Perhaps Vitti's Dryad grandmother would have some stuff she could lend us. :P

M Human ( Chelis ) Fighter 2

Well, i wouldn't mind putting my hands on a great wyrm's hoard, if you think he'll just let us take his stuff and go away without arguing :)

Male Aasimar Druid 2

Well, he might object if we just waltzed in there and tried to take it. I'm sure if we asked nicely, though, he'd lay his neck out for us to chop his head off. Can't object then if we helped ourselves to some loot. :)

We might want to try a lesser dragon first, though. Great Wyrms might have bigger hoards, but they also have bigger stomachs. More room for all of us to be eaten.

Items liberated from the Hellknights:
7 potions of cure light wounds
1 masterwork heavy mace (selling price 166 gp)
1 light crossbow w/20 bolts (selling price 18 gp, 5 sp)
6 longswords (selling price 7 gp, 5 sp each)

If you sell all the non-magical items, that would net you 229 gp, 5 sp in total. Which would be 45 gp, 9 sp for each of you.

As far as great wyrm hoards, you don't currently know of any nearby. Maybe some information gathering would help :)

Awesome.

I'd like a Potion of CLW, and will tithe 5gp.

Just a heads up: I won't be able to post until tomorrow evening, unfortunately. I thought I would have time to post tonight, but such notions of extra time evaporated.

Female Half-Orc Sorcerer, 7th (Brass Draconic Bloodline)

Semenya still has 3 potions of cure light wounds from earlier. She'll hand the one she'd otherwise claim to Arodio, after braiding a leather cord to hold it. "Keep this around your neck, or at your wrist, so that any of us can find it later if we need to pour it down your throat."

She'll hold on to her gold for later.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

I'm not following very much lately, have been very busy. Will trust the others on sharing loots.

A question: In posts such as this one, which include information for specific characters, do you want me to post them that way, or would you prefer if I used spoiler tags?

Good question: I'm not sure what proper protocol is, but my guess that you don't need to spoiler it unless it is specifically requested by the player.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Would say the same as Appario,i'll tell when i want DM to use spoiler tags

Male Aasimar Druid 2

When I'm doing split-info in the two games I'm running, I try to spoiler things. Mostly that revolves around skill checks, though. Characters will get different results, so I'll either give them information based on their results rolls, or pre-post separated by DC and let them honor-code what their results are. That's just my style of GM-ing, though. I'm open to either way.

Oh well, a frontal assault is more dramatic anyway.

*Sigh* Tis always the actors off stage who are so critical of the ones who are on-stage. ;) But this is hardly a frontal assault...we are already inside the compound!

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Sorry for my disappearence, i barely managed to sit at the comp lately.

I'm going to assume that Arodio was left guarding the door at the tailor's shop, keeping a reasonably safe exit route available if necessary. If you want him somewhere else, Gandal, that is up to you :)

Hey Arodio, do I have some puppy dogs that want to meet you! There are *VERY* friendly.

Male Mazinger-type Fan of Go Nagai level 38

Don't know how to apologize :-(
I just managed to come back at the keyboard after a long working period and a illness. I'm afraid i'll leave the game, or else you'll keep wondering whether i'll show again or not. I cannot anyway promise i'll be keeping a regular posting pace with Summer approaching.

Thanks for letting us know. I hope your illness is behind you, and that you're okay :)

Can I suggest that it might be wise to fetch Theron and then perform a defensive retreat to a safer location where the party can heal up with their clw potions, and then return with everyone at full health?

There's no shame in retreating from an encounter that has become quite hard due to the party getting the attention of several groups at once while being split up..

Although, I suppose Derek gets the drama he always wants the way things are going at the moment :)

Eklektos will likely be working on that as soon as he can get close enough to Theron to Cure him. I somehow don't think he has the strength to get Theron out of there by carrying him. Now that he can see what state Theron is in, he's going to freak a bit.
