In part because the artist is a friend of mine who needed to raise cash for an emergency, and in part because pictures of female half-orcs looking friendly or charismatic are about as rare as hen's teeth, I commissioned a a sketch/digital painting of Semenya.
At some point, we'll figure out the tattoos.
If any of you are interested in having her do the same, reply to this message with an email address I can reach you at; that was a $20 portrait.

So, we're down to Derek, Appario and Semenya, and hopefully Eklektos/Theron will return from the land of no net access.
I think we might be well served to consider recruiting one player (to cover for Arodio) while we wait out what's happening with jlighter.
This shouldn't pause the game while we do so - we're in the treasure divvy phase (and I think that Appario may seriously covet that magic breastplate...)
DM Are
I think things are going very well with the four of you, and in my opinion four PCs is a better number than five (plus it means I have to change fewer encounters :D), so assuming jlighter isn't gone for good I'm a bit reluctant to recruit another player.
If everyone else wants a fifth player I'll be open to it, though. And if jlighter doesn't make an appearance for another week then recruitments would definitely be in order.

I trust in you, DM Are.
No worries on my end.

*bump*
DM Are, I definitely think you have first choice on inviting new souls to the game.
I have one individual whom I know would fit right in and would be a strong fun player.
I think we could use two more of any class...I prefer strong, well played characters over having a 'balanced' party.
I'm happy to help in the recruitment.

That sounds good; a player you know and have enjoyed playing with before should be a good addition :)
I'll keep Eklektos NPC'ed until the Bastards have been routed out, I think. There's no real way to introduce new players down in the underground area.
So, once we start nearing the end of the forthcoming combat, I'll set up a recruitment thread.

My friend will likely be joining us this week. He is reading the player's guide and building a character.
I think he'll be ready to join us assuming we live from Part II: The Tieflings Strike Back.

If there's anything you'd want me to state in the upcoming recruitment thread, please let me know. This will be my first recruitment thread, after all :)
Also, how do you feel the combat encounters went, in general? I made a few mistakes, but hopefully those are all ironed out now. Is it a good idea to keep using the real maps, or should I reinterpret them as pure battlemaps? Hopefully it was fun though :)
Derek Keegan
I enjoyed it fully.
As for my opinions, well, a bard is a supporter, so it's nice to have someone to support, tacticly someone that can go shoulder to shoulder with Appario, and someone who can help with the healing would be nice.
But in the end I guess we can make most combinations work.
As for maps, I like these, they give me a sense of the area we are in.

I also think you rocked, DM Are.
The combats were very smoothly run even if we acted like a bunch of yahoos (and we did! in character!). I love the maps and how easy it is to be tactical on them even if my character sometimes won't always act tactically.
As far as recruitment goes, I hope my friend jumps on soon (he was also busy at PaizoCon), but I expect a response shortly.
I'm happy with any party makeup...I believe in making do with what you have and having players play characters that they want to play.
I had great fun with these last battles, btw. Not sure how we survived, but happy that we did.

Hola, I'm Painlord's friend he's been speaking of.
I'm considering playing a Shoanti melee-focused life oracle.
I had a couple questions:
Is content from Ultimate Magic okay? Specifically, I'd like to be twice-cursed oracle. All the relevant info is in the PFSRD.
Is it required that we take a trait from the CoT player's guide? Are the traits from Humans of Golarion okay? I'd like to take the Shoanti specific one from that book.
Feral
|
Welcome, Feral :)
I haven't yet had a chance to read all of Ultimate Magic, but I have the book and will okay things on a case-by-case basis. Dual-cursed oracle is fine :)
One of your traits should be from the CoT player's guide. I don't yet have Humans of Golarion; what does the Shoanti trait do?
I picked up my copy at PaizoCon and it's sitting with my luggage at home right now.
In short:
Bred for War (Shoanti): You're really big. You gain a +1 trait bonus to CMB.

Also are you/the AP conducive to crafting magical equipment? Part of my character's story was going to be that he's a smith and I was considering picking up Master Craftsman at some point.

The Recruitment Thread has been set up.
It might be a good idea for the party to introduce themselves to the potential recruits.
Feral, you can post your character concept in that thread as well, just to keep everything in the same place :)
AdAstraGames
Are, I really liked how combat flowed.
Feral, one of the things that works well at the moment is that we've got a group of people who can all be Stealthy. Many of us can also be Perceptive (*ahem* Appario...) :)
In a group like this, being able to -be- sneaky is handy, because that way the entire group can move as a team.

Several good submissions so far. I'm thinking we might want to increase the player count to 6 :)
I'd like input from the rest of you on which additional characters you think seem most interesting.
I'm fine with 6 if we have good candidates.
I'm not done with reading all the entries yet, but Hama/Granor Goldenbeard's posting pedigree and Hama's location (Serbia...I like variation) make him an interesting choice.
Appario Lind
Lootz from the Bastards:
20 magical potions (need identification)
1 magical breastplate (I would sell...Appario prefers something lighter)
1 magical morningstar (Appario would take after identification)
1 magical wand (Identify?)
9 masterwork studded leather armors (sell)
1 masterwork tower shield (sell)
17 daggers (sell unless the Gardeners want them)
17 light crossbows (sell unless the Gardeners want them)
11 short swords (sell unless the Gardeners want them)
6 light maces (sell unless the Gardeners want them)
17 sets of thieves' tools (sell unless the Gardeners want them)
2 tanglefoot bags (Appario would carry one or two, we should keep)
1895 gp
600 gp worth of small gems, including one 100 gp pearl (return)
800 gp worth of jewelry (return)
1 masterwork dagger (sell?)
1 masterwork rapier (Derek?)
1 jeweled short sword (return)
DM Are
Don't worry, I've read some of Shuriken's character concepts before. They're not suited to this campaign at least, if any.
I'll be deciding this evening on who to add to the campaign, so if anyone has more input, let me know.
The breastplate Appario was wearing in the last encounter is in addition to the loot list above, by the way (so there's a total of 2 magical breastplates).
Oh, and whenever you're done increasing Appario, Derek and Semenya to level 3, make a post to let me know :)
Derek Keegan
Derek will defiantly express an interest in the rapier.
Hmm, question about the loot, the only thing that is documented as stolen, and which can be returned are the gems and the jewellery? So all of the weapons, the money, the potions, the magical items and such are safe for us to take?
I agree we should claim the choicest bits for ourselves, distribute some to the gardeners, and sell the rest.
Guess it's a three way split? Enjoy it now, because when we go to six, each person gets less lot in the future haha.

That's correct.

Hehe :)
Eklektos will only take as much as you will give him. I'm not going to have him demand anything.
Appario Lind
On second thought, Appario will be keeping the breastplate +1 that he tried out during the fight. While he'll be searching for something lighter, this will suit him for a bit.
I believe we can sell the other magical breastplate.
DM Are, is there a Gardener who would be willing to help us identify the goods once we get back?
I should have Appario up by the end of the day.
Derek Keegan
Another question Dm Are.
When I made this character I was considering letting him take the brew potion feat at lv three, to brew the Heros brew from Second Darkness players guide. Would you be ok with that? And if you are, what about the other two items? Luthiers rapier and the ring of emmancipation?
DM Are
Eklektos will agree to stay for a few more days to identify as many of the items as he can, and Arael will identify the items Eklektos is unable to.
After a few days of identification the following is revealed:
+1 breastplate
+1 morningstar
wand of cure light wounds (37 charges)
5 potion of cure moderate wounds
14 potion of cure light wounds
1 potion of disguise self
Derek Keegan
Derek will claim one of the mwk Studded leather armor and the rapier, and we should give Eklektos one of the armor as well. Plus say three cure light potions to go.
Maybe we should give him a decent ammount of gold too.
Derek is updated minus the feat.
Semenya Carbachon
Semenya will take the half+1 option, for 5 more hit points.
I've updated her character sheet, though I'm willing to take suggestions for something other than the Dodge feat. Still, going from AC 12 to AC 18 does make me feel a little more comfortable with this whole adventuring schtick. At last, her AC is higher than her hit point total... :)
She's got one fewer potions of CLW than listed - that's before the divvy of the stuff from the tieflings.
Is there any place in town where she could get a few wands? I'd love to get a wand of shield and a wand of expeditious retreat.
Appario Lind
Stuff to keep/return:
14 Pot CLW (keep/share)
5 Pot CMW (keep/share)
1 Pot Disguise Self (keep)
1 magical morningstar (Appario takes...where are those wolf skeletons now?!!??!!?)
1 wand CLW (keep!)
2 tanglefoot bags (Appario/keep, who wants the other?)
1 masterwork rapier (Derek)
Stuff given to Master Arael for return to the proper owners.
600 gp worth of small gems, including one 100 gp pearl (return)
800 gp worth of jewelry (return)
Stuff to Sell:
1 breastplate +1(sell one, Appario keeps the other)
8 masterwork studded leather armors (sell, Derek took one)
1 masterwork tower shield (sell)
17 daggers (sell)
17 light crossbows (sell)
11 short swords (sell)
6 light maces (sell)
17 sets of thieves' tools (sell)
1 masterwork dagger (sell)
1 jeweled short sword (sell)
1895 gp
I think that's the list.
Derek Keegan
"You know, they have classified the Morningstar as both a bludgeoning weapon and a piercing weapon. Now that's just stupid, have you ever seen spikes hit someone at high velocity and call that bludgeoning?"
-Arms and equipment guide Ad&d 2nd ed
Semenya Carbachon
Stuff to keep:
14 Pot CLW (keep/share) (Semenya will take 6 of these, recommends that Derek and Appario each take 4 apiece; she is less likely to need a BIG jolt of healing than either of you two are.)
5 Pot CMW (keep/share) (Semenya will take one of these to go with the one she already has; Derek and Appario should get two apiece)
(If the potion divvy is acceptable, Semenya will have 7 CLWs and 2 CMW potions)
1 Pot Disguise Self (keep/Semenya)
1 magical morningstar (Appario takes...where are those wolf skeletons now?!!??!!?)
1 wand CLW (keep!) Recommend Appario hold on to it. Say, if you backstab with a CLW wand, does the backstab damage turn into healing? :)
2 tanglefoot bags (Appario/keep, who wants the other?) Semenya will take the other.
1 masterwork rapier (Derek)
It pains me to sell off that +1 breastplate. :)
+1 Breastplate lists for 1,350
Masterwork Studded Leather is 175 * 8 = 1,400
Masterwork Tower Shield is 180
Daggers are 2 GP each so 34
Shortswords are 10 GP each for 110
Light Crossbows are 35 each for 595
Light Maces are 5 GP each for 30
Thieves Tools are 30 GP each for 510
Masterwork dagger: 302 GP
Anyone care to appraise the jeweled shortsword?
Net the jeweled shortsword, that's 4511 MSRP.
Appario, I'm assuming your Temple contacts can help us dispose of these things discretely, and at a fair price?
If using the standard "Sell for half price" ratio, that's about 2255 GP in liquid funds. Plus the cash, that's 4,150. If the people we return stolen goods to feel like rewarding us for our services...there's a bit more in the offing.
Things Semenya would like to buy:
Masterwork Battleaxe (320 GP)
Masterwork Light Crossbow (335 GP)
Wands: Magic Weapon, Shield, Expeditious Retreat (750 each if fully charged)
Wondrous Item: If it can be had, a Hat of Disguise is something Semenya wants. (1,800 GP)
I don't expect everything on the list to be available, but they're on the wish list.
Appario Lind
Gah!
Semenya, remind me to teach you how to use Spoiler formatting to keep posts clean. ;)
DM Are: Appario Lind is up. I'm happy to send you a .pdf or Herolab file if you wish it. I have the new breastplate, morningstar, & t-bags as new gear, have sold my hide armor.
Derek: I eagerly await the beating from Hanna. I could use another test of this armor and my new acrobatic and perception skills.
