Who is affected by the Tears to Wine spell? (Tears to Whine...) ;)

Also, should I start?

You can go ahead and start, Karla.

Male Dwarf Geokineticist 17 HP 143(296)/325; AC 28/20/22 (defensive training) (+2 v goblins, +4 v giants); DR 13/Adamantine; 35% crit/sneak attack negation; Acid Resist 10 Saves +27/+19/+15; +5 init, +28 Per; 5/15 burn, 3/3 Internal Buffer

We should all be- anyone who drinks the wine gets the bonus, and the spell makes plenty. It's one of my favorites.

Maybe if I tell the story of the dragon? That is kind of Rogar's claim to fame at the moment. Hopefully that part would have a lower DC than the final section.

If the final section is so important, then we should perhaps avoid Diplomacy until the end, as it would raise the DC by 5?

Active Spells:
Barkskin, Blur, Greater Magic Weapon
Healing Hexes Used:
Human Flame Spirit Shaman 17 | HP: 181/181AC 37 T:18 F:34 | Saves F:17 R:15 W:22 | Init:4 | Perc:21/25| CMB:15 CMD:36 | Speed: 30

I'm not sure what to do about Diplomacy. It's Wulfram's best skill: with the Belt of Dwarvenkind, Eagle's Splendor, Heroism and the Dwarven bonus, he has a +27 bonus. With all the buffs, Karla's is even higher, I think.

Just realized the belt applies to all charisma-based checks, not just Diplomacy, so another +4 to his untrained acting check (he easily beat the 10 DC to aid anyway).

I just realized that Wulfram's Circlet of Persuasion doesn't stack with the Belt of Dwarvenkind (both competence bonuses). Maybe Karla should be using the belt instead?

Ok, then Wulfram should make the final diplomacy roll. We can replace the earlier planned roll with another. I put Eustoma Ride, but I don't know if that would be ok, even with a penalty.

Here's the update. (Oh, and I use linguistics for diplomacy so the circlet doesn't help.)

Fall of Phaendar
Scene 1 - The Fall of Phaendar - Karla Perform (violin) - Wulfram uses Alter Self to play a hobgoblin
Scene 2 - Fleeing into the Forest and Finding Refuge - Wulfram Knowledge (nature) - Eustoma's Summon Natures Ally for a forest creature, Karla and others play trogs using Veil.
Scene 3 - From Survival to Resistance - Karla Handle Animal - Wulfram uses Alter Self to play the hobgoblin Scarvinious.

Rescuing the Chernasardo Rangers
Scene 1 - Searching for Hope - Karla Bluff - Wulfram uses Adjustable Polymorph to play various fey.
Scene 2 - Fighting the Fallen Fey - Eustoma Ride - Karla's Veil for Feys.
Scene 3 - Taking Down a Dragon - Karla Knowledge (arcana) - Wulfram casts Wall of Fire. Resist fire on Rogar so he can tumble through the flames. Either the Bronze Dragon Figure, or Karla's Minor image for the dragon.

Defending Longshadow
Scene 1 - Preparing for Battle - Eustoma Spellcraft - FIND OBJECT
Scene 2 - Offence is the Best Defence - Karla Intimidate - ?? Perhaps a wall of stone for Rogar to make into battlements.
Scene 3 - The Tower Falls - Eustoma Ride - Eustoma rides the Bronze Dragon, if there's room. Karla's Minor Image for the Minotaur General.

To Kraggodan
Scene 1 - Betrayed - Karla Bluff - Someone who can change shape into those creatures or the naga?
Scene 2 - The Long Road to Depth - Rogar Knowledge (dungeoneering) - Karla's Veil for our disguise.
Scene 3 - New Alliances - Wulfram Diplomacy * - I think this is the appeal to the Synod, so nothing here.

Since the circlet and the belt don't stack, Wulfram would only have +24 Diplomacy.

That's better than my +23 with Heroism. Not a big deal, it also depends who use the dicebot best ;)

It also hinges on Eustoma being able to use Ride. Otherwise, that roll is between two of mine, so it means one of you three would have to repeat a roll, which entails +5 or +10 DC if it's the same person making the same roll.

Male Dwarf Geokineticist 17 HP 143(296)/325; AC 28/20/22 (defensive training) (+2 v goblins, +4 v giants); DR 13/Adamantine; 35% crit/sneak attack negation; Acid Resist 10 Saves +27/+19/+15; +5 init, +28 Per; 5/15 burn, 3/3 Internal Buffer

I still don’t think it’s a good idea for me to do anything in the final section. If I did the Dragon portion instead of Eustoma (and could probably get a few RP bonuses depending on how I told it), then we might be able to put two uses of a skill earlier when the DC is lower, and have it work that way.

That sounds good. What skill would Rogar roll? And what would replace Rogar's dungeoneering in the last section?

Male Dwarf Geokineticist 17 HP 143(296)/325; AC 28/20/22 (defensive training) (+2 v goblins, +4 v giants); DR 13/Adamantine; 35% crit/sneak attack negation; Acid Resist 10 Saves +27/+19/+15; +5 init, +28 Per; 5/15 burn, 3/3 Internal Buffer

I could do either (engineering) or (dungeoneering). If I did (dungeoneering) for the Dragon fight, then that could move (arcana) to the end of Longshadow, and I could also do (engineering) for Longshadow part 2, and allow for Intimidate to be used for the Long Walk.

I may only have a +6 naturally, but with Tears to Wine and speaking Dwarven, that’s basically a +13, which should be good with a decent roll.

Ok, new update:

EDIT Changed some rolls to have intimidate in section 2.

Made some changes to Longshadow. Eustoma Ride was there twice... I've re-read the rules and it seems like it's fine for us to reuse the same skill, as long as it is not twice in a row. So I've put back 'Karla Diplomacy.'

I'll give some time in case I made a mistake so you can chime in, as I've just changed what is to be the next roll. If DM Brainiac confirms that all is ok, then I'll proceed.

For Defending Longshadow, Scene 1, we probably want to mention the mines at Radya's Hollow, and the dwarven connection.

Now I'm worried about the final Diplomacy check; I hope I haven't used up all my good rolls! :)

As the next part gets a bonus with Knowledge (engineering), and as we've not followed Longshadow exactly as detailed above, I think it's best if Rogar goes next, with crunchy details about dwarven architecture. Perhaps Karla can use minor image to provide examples?

I'm unsure about whether Alter Self will allow Wulfram to appear as a morlock.

Alter Self wrote:
When you cast this spell, you can assume the form of any Small or Medium creature of the humanoid type.

Does this include monstrous humanoids (like morlocks)?

Technically no, but you can turn into a human that looks very morlock-like. :)

Rogar is up with Knowledge (engineering) and Karla will do her best to replicate what she saw with minor images.

Before I make my Diplomacy attempt, what should we be asking for? I think we need information about the Onyx Key and it's relationship to Kraggodan. We need to shut down the Stone Road, and the Onyx Key might be required to use it.

FWIW, Wulfram will be casting Mass Eagle's Splendor on the party before his speech.

We need to understand how the tower works and how to remove that advantage from the Legion. That's what you mean by the Stone Road?

We need allies, but can we expect Kraggodan to support our fight while they're caught in one?

The runes on Kosseruk's tower read: "Glory and Honor to the Stone Road, which bore our kin through the dark womb of the earth. Glory and Honor to the skyseeker Kraggodan, who opened the Stone Road to us with the key!"

I think the "Stone Road" is the term for the artifact/portal that allows the Legion to move its' troops so fast. We should probably play up the point that this is a stolen dwarven artifact.

My post is going to be delayed. My 87 yr old mother fell and is in hospital. Will try to get it done tomorrow.

Oh, no! I hope she will be okay, Wulfram. Of course, that takes priority.

Sorry to hear. I hope she recovers quickly.

Anyone have any feat suggestions? So far this level, I get a damage boost, an extra attack each round, and an area attack. But I don't have a bunch of good feat options at the moment (but when level 15 comes around, I'll have a ton). I could grab Weapon Finesse I suppose, but the ship for going into melee is kind of long over at this point- I already get multiple attacks ranged, can move at absurd speeds, can retreat no problem, and have no issues with firing into melee.

Level 13 Summary so far:

We should take the opportunity to do some shopping.

Wulfram would like to buy another Aegis of Recovery (as many as he can get his hands on, actually!).

I forgot about recharging Karla's Staff of Fire earlier. Wulfram could have restored one charge per day.

So three days then, yes? Should we count some trevelling days to arrive?

You can assume it's fully charged again.

Thanks!

Also, I'm only now remembering that ranks in Linguistics provide languages... I know! I know... Not my best moment. So I'm missing eight languages if I'm not mistaken.

Given our last ordeals, I'd say Karla would have focused on learning 'underground' languages. Aklo seems likely, given its connection to the Fey. Undercommon would also make sense. The other six she would have learned before going underground, so I was thinking: Dwarven, Elven, Terran, Ignan, Abyssal, Treant.

Altogether, her list would be (Common and Varisian free, Int +2, Ranks +13): Common (Taldan), Varisian, Hallit, Draconic, Goblin, Sylvan, Giant, Infernal, Celestial, Dwarven, Elven, Terran, Ignan, Abyssal, Treant, Undercommon, Aklo.

Let me know if I'm missing something and if you're ok with the list.

Sorry about that.

That's fine.
