Eustoma Hadlefoot |
Sorry friends. I've had a week that kicked my rear. I'm doing my best to catch up, and try to have a post up by the end of today (Wednesday). I just wanted to let my games know I'm alive and kicking the week back as best I can.
Wulfram Bartos |
I should point out that Wulfram is not ready for a boss fight. He really needs to rest and memorize spells.
Rogar Befin |
I'm not too dissimilar. I've been using Burn way more than normal (read: any amount at all) and would like to recover before a major fight.
Wulfram Bartos |
I'm not sure that we can bury the entrance.
You conjure up an extradimensional meadow that can be accessed from a single entrance on the plane from which the spell was cast. The entry point looks like a circle of toadstools enclosing a 10-foot square. Only those you designate can enter the meadow before you do, and the portal is shut and made invisible behind you when you enter. You can open it again from your own side at will. Once a visitor has passed through the entry point, they find themselves in an idyllic twilight meadow surrounded by an impassable grove of fruit and nut trees. The atmosphere is clean, fresh, and warm.
You can configure the meadow into any shape you desire, to the limit of the spell’s effect. The place is comfortable and temperate. The trees can provide enough food to sustain 4 people per caster level for a day. A staff of near-transparent animal or feylike servants (as many as two per caster level) wait upon all who enter. The servants function as unseen servant spells except that they are visible and can go anywhere in the meadow.
Since the place can be entered only through its special portal, outside conditions do not affect the meadow, nor do conditions inside it pass to the plane beyond.
So I'm not sure if I can let people in once I'm inside.
Rogar Befin |
How about making a small cave, then? That should be well within Rogar's capabilities. Shift Earth allows him to move cubes of earth or unworked stone, and (I think?) the walls of where we're in is unworked stone. It should be fairly trivial to hollow out an area large enough for the ring, then close off the access.
Wulfram Bartos |
Wulfram will be casting some buffs first. I’ll post after I return home this evening, after cleaning the basement of my parents’ house (buyer takes possession on Sunday).
Karla Teg |
Karla will also cast a few buffs before stepping through:
Cast Veil on the group: makes us look like the Hobgoblins and their mounts (15 hours)
Cast See Invisibility on her (150 minutes)
Cast See Invisibility on Nik'o (150 minutes)
Form of the Exotic Dragon II on her (15 minutes: Underworld Dragon!)
Cast Angelic Aspect on Nik'o (15 minutes)
Scroll of Animal Growth on Nik'o (9 minutes)
Mirror Image on her (15 minutes 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 = 8 images (max 8))
Mirror Image on Nik'o (15 minutes 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 = 7 images)
Potion of Bear's Endurance for her (3 minutes)
Potion of Bear's Endurance for Nik'o (3 minutes)
Aaaand, just before we open the portal: Extended Haste (30 rounds)
Hope that's ok.
Rogar Befin |
Anyone want to have more discussion with the crazy dryad? Rogar’s next action is going to be hitting her in the face with a very, very big rock.
DM: doing a bit of math, it looks like it’s just under 120 feet from the very edge of the chasm to the throne. Is that right? It’s a bit tricky to see for sure.
Karla Teg |
Sorry to ask, but I forgot what our goals are in adventuring into the Fangwood.
For sure, we are interested in the Sardonyx Shard, but anything else? Also, what of the Hobgoblin? Karla would be fine with eventually letting him go, once she's certain he won't simply go back to trying to murdering them and the ones she loves...
Wulfram Bartos |
I think the Sardonyx Shard is what we have come for. Perhaps the hobgoblin can stay as Gendowyn's "guest" until our quest is complete.

Level 16 Summary:
+17 HP
+1 BAB
+1 Fort, Ref
+1 CON (+16 HP)
+1 DR
Internal Buffer 3
Utility Talent: Stone Sculptor
Skills: Perception, Stealth, Acrobatics, Profession (stonemason), Knowledge (engineering, dungeoneering)
Nothing much this level, all told. As it stands, I'm very nearly hitting a plateau on damage. Still, Metal Blast only costs 1 Burn now, which means I might be able to fit it on the odd Quickened blast, but I'm not really anticipating any great jumps in my combat prowess at this point. As it stands, my Utility talent for this level is very delayed level-wise, but I do finally get to pick up an at-will Stone Shape, which might be useful.

I'm guessing there's quite a bit of loot...
Karla has some gold left unspent. We've also recently collected some more powerful items. From those, Karla would try to see if the +3 deathless mithral shirt could be modified to fit Nik'o...
The cloak of displacement and the ring of freedom of movement should also probably be distributed.
I think we no longer have Dryad's Song, right?
She'll likely equip Nik'o and buy some scrolls. The ring of freedom of movement would be a nice reassurance for her.

Wulfram Bartos |
Rogar, are you doing a division of the loot?
Note that Wulfram's new hex gives him Craft Wondrous Item, so he can make magic items for people. Any requests? I was thinking I could make an Aegis of Recovery for anyone who isn't using their amulet slot.
Eustoma Hadlefoot |
Eustoma also has Craft Magic Weapons and Armor. She can work on those if anyone wants me to give that a try.
She'll want to upgrade Sia and her armor and her weapon for sure.
Eustoma doesn't have a neck slot item.
Rogar Befin |
Yeah, I’ll divide the loot this afternoon/evening when I finally get back to my computer (turns out traveling in the holidays and trying to see people is a lot more time-consuming than I anticipated).
Rogar Befin |
Okay, I think the loot sheet should be updated now. I probably missed a thing or two, but most (or all) of the items are on the items are on the spreadsheet (though not with prices).
That... took a while. I knew the sheet was out of date. I didn't realize it hadn't been updated since May, though.
Wulfram Bartos |
I suppose Wulfram could carry the farspear, to give him a better ranged option. It's not really that great for its value, but I don't like the idea of just selling a story item like that. If someone else thinks they will get good use out of it, by all means take it.
Other than that, I think we're ready to move on to the next day.
Karla Teg |
What spells do we have access to? Also, do we have good enough Sense Motive checks to investigate some members (I don’t like the merchant).
The other thing is to ask for clerical support for some of the spells we wish we had.
Some spells, to start, would be Detect Scrying, Zone of Truth, True Seeing.
Karla will have See Invisibility on at all times.
Other thoughts?
Wulfram Bartos |
Wulfram needs to get the material components for Commune. I suppose he could also memorize True Seeing, using a higher level spell slot (my practice has generally been to leave one spell slot open at each spell level). He could also memorize Detect Scrying, but doesn't have Zone of Truth on his spell list.
