Wulfram Bartos |

With the level of damage that the monsters are putting out, I don't think Wulfram can take point any more. I think Rogar is going to have to take the lead.

Am I the only one who gets this strange behaviour? When I post, my post doesn't appear. It does only once I reload the page.
I have also been experiencing this recently, although not every time.

Rogar Befin |

Ironically enough, that just happened to me when I went to check new posts here a couple minutes ago- Wulfram's post didn't show up (but was counted in the post total) until I refreshed a couple times. I think it's just a server response time error- where it redirects you back to the page before it's updated with the new post.

Wulfram Bartos |

I'm a bit confused about Rogar's saving throw modifiers; shouldn't his Reflex save be quite a bit higher than his Will? Reflex has a good save progression for kineticists, while Will has a low progression, and Rogar's dex is higher than his wis.
Edit: Another thing I noticed is that Mark Seifter has confirmed that Infusion Specialization does not apply to a Composite's Blast's burn cost.
As a minor note, Elemental Overflow's damage bonus doesn't apply to Kinetic Blade.
BTW, I'm pretty sure that Weapon Finesse applies to Kinetic Blade, so that's something for Rogar to consider picking up.

Rogar Befin |

I'm likewise a bit confused about Rogar's saves. I'm currently working on redoing the math for all of them.
Yeah, Kinetic Blast is quite a bit stronger without the Blade, but I mainly picked up Kinetic Blade because it served as a melee backup and I wasn't using Pushing infusion. My Kinetic Overflow provides a +6 damage bonus, and allows my Diadem to work. If I end up going melee more often, I might grab Weapon Finesse, but I'm not planning at the moment.
Also, on Infusion Specialization: Huh. It's so hard to actually get a straight answer on how Kineticists work. I'll keep that in mind going forward.
EDIT: Okay..... It seems like my Will save was too high by 1 (not sure where it came from), my Reflex save was too low by 2, and even my Fortitude should be 1 higher. Updated now.

I think sometimes clear writing get's sacrificed on the alter of word count. I really wish Paizo was more willing to issue updated FAQs.
The advantage of Kinetic Blade is that it allows you to make melee full attacks. FWIW, Mark also is of the opinion that Haste should work with Kinetic Blade (I think RAW it doesn't).
Kinetic Blade is also the prerequisite for Kinetic Whip, which gives you a proper AoO (at the cost of yet another point of burn).

Rogar Befin |

FAQs are even worse off for Kineticists compared to a lot of classes, which is sad, as their unique not-casting mechanic is what really could benefit from a lot more clarification. Still, they do seem to be pretty good at dealing damage most with interpretations.
Yeah, building around Kinetic Blade can absolutely be really strong, though at this point it sounds like it'll keep me from using Metal Blast, so I doubt I'll really invest too much into it (ironically my 'default' attack routine of Maximized Empowered Metal Blast is completely right- Gather Power now reduces 2 Burn for me). But should I find myself in the situation where we have Haste/Blessing of Fervor going and I'm surrounded by enemies, it's nice to have the option of melee.

Wulfram Bartos |

I think Wulfram could carry someone else while flying down to the Morlock cave, for what it's worth.

Wulfram Bartos |

Wulfram simply doesn't have any real steath abilities; the closest would be Alter Self and Silence. But he's not going to be able to sneak by a bunch of enemies.

Rogar Befin |

I can try moving the rock or burrowing through for a peek (or to try and steal the key), I just have had a really busy weekend so I haven’t been able to post.

Wulfram Bartos |

Rogar Befin |

I took Mobile Gathering as my 7th-level feat, which allows me to move half my speed (30 feet thanks to Blessing of Fervor) and still Gather Power. But otherwise, yes, it would take 2 Burn to use Metal Blast.

Wulfram Bartos |

Wulfram has 41 charges left on his remaining wand of CLW (we've used 22 charges so far today). I suggest we start using our potions of CLW.
Note: When he meditates, Wulfram is going to memorize a Mass Cure Light Wounds, so wait before you cure up to full.

Wulfram Bartos |

Wulfram will take the Pearl of Power (I don't think anyone else can use it), the scroll of Raise Dead, the scroll of Restoration, and one potion of cure serious wounds.
Does anyone not have a +3 or better cloak of resistance already?
Karla should take the scroll of Vampiric Touch.
I presume Karla should get the Circlet of Persuasion.
Perhaps Eustoma would like the pink rhomboid ioun stone (+2 enhancement to Con)? She has the lowest HP.
There's also a dusty rose prism ioun stone (+1 Insight bonus to AC).
Everyone should take a potion of cure serious wounds.

I'll take the scroll. Not sure about the circlet. Karla's social high skills come from linguistics through feats. As such, the circlet would only improve her "back up" stats. still, it would also raise UMD. Ok, I'll take it for now, but if you feel we can use the cash, parting with it won't be a big deal.

Wulfram Bartos |

As soon as he has finished meditating, Wulfram is going to cast a Mass Cure Light Wounds, so save your healing until after he does that.

Wulfram Bartos |

We can always try to negotiate our way past the morlocks (I think the potion of tongues might still be in effect). They may insist on fighting, though.

Wulfram Bartos |

Have we found some sort of clue about where the caverns lead to?
Edit: We have a map showing several tunnels that lead from the morlock caverns to the dwarven sky citadel of Kraggodan.

Rogar Befin |

Do we have some way of carrying the brass plates? I figure they might be nice to have as we head to a Dwarven city, almost certainly "a place where dwarven artistry is appreciated."

Level 12 highlights:
+1 Chr
Spells per day:
3x lvl 6 (+1 from Chr)
Spells known:
1 x lvl 6: Veil
1 x lvl 5 (favored class): Teleport.
Skill levels: Linguistics, Perception, Spellcraft. Knowledge Arcana, Use Magical Device.
Background: Handle Animal, Perform.
Question for other players: I chose Teleport and Veil, but these might be of limited help depending on our strategy. For example, Teleport works for four additional people until next level, and we'll need to make our animal companions smaller to even bring one of them, which means two trips in most cases, meaning four castings... Veil also makes little sense if we do not go fur subterfuge. Anyhow, let me know what you think. I'm really not sure about these spells.

Eustoma Hadlefoot |

I'm not sure how useful teleport would be if it's going to take two trips. It would be nice to move back to Longshadow quickly, but if we're using it in battle, splitting wouldn't be a good idea.
