A foul omen looms in the sky over the scoundrel city of Riddleport, an ominous shadow that defies the light. Is it a curse laid millennia ago by forgotten mages? Does it forewarn against the return of some terrible foe? Or does it portend a terrible

Can we see these enemies clearly, or do we need more light? I'd like to know what we're dealing with for... strategy purposes. ^^

Darkvision people can see clearly. Shadowy illumination for the others.

So... what am I seeing? Do I need to make a Knowledge check? ^^

K. Planes

Dretches!

FYI, I'll be out of town Thursday through Monday; I think it's unlikely I'll be posting at all in that time.

I also am out of town the rest of the week. I may or may not be posting much.

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

Hmmm. Once I have Craft Construct, I am probably going to invest in Elemental Spell (Sonic). It's an element that few creatures have strong natural resistance against.

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

Wouldn't Celestial creatures be able to understand Celestial? ^^;

Nope. Celestial vermin are still mindless, even if they are celestial.

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

Right, then. Let's go with how you pictured the spiders acting. ^^

Dang. Wish I had Gust of Wind handy now...

HP 150/155, AC 26/13/24, F +14, R +15, W +6, Init +2, Per +16 (+19 traps)

Air elementals?

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

No more summoning spells today... :(

And that was my only Magic Missile. o_o I need to start looking into wands and things...
Nevertheless, Bruendor, I'm on my way to help you. It's just unfortunate that I'm at my best with ranged combat. >_<; I'm not really built for melée.

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to be visiting family for the week, and at least one of those days I won't have any internet access at all. So a big slowdown is likely. Feel free to bot Lefrik if you need to.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Will do. Thanks for the heads up.

Posting will be spotty at best through Wednesday, anyone feel free to take actions for Kel to keep things moving.

I thought it might be worth talking about where we should station ourselves to hold the library here at the same time as we try to take the roof, just to move things along (though I realize whatever we find on the roof could change that).

IMO, unless we find some way on the roof to easily enter and exit the library, we should hold up inside, and try to trap the doors. While only some drow can levitate at will, who knows how many of those we'll find and I think we're more stuck if we're on the roof than inside...

half-elf Oracle 13 | HP 107 | AC 27/15/24 | F +8, R +9, W +11(+2) | init +3, Perception +8 | CMB +10, CMD 25

I agree about finding a way to easily enter/exit the roof, without that we just hole up inside and try to withstand the attacks from the library.

Calla has the best perception and levitate lasts for 6 minutes, maybe we cast it on her now and let her examine the roof in both rooms for hidden doors to the top side?

Other option would be a Moonlight Bridge ramping straight to the roof top from outside the building?

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

I agree with Calla. It may be my inner Abjurer talking, but holing up and turning the place into a death-trap for any Drow who try to break in sounds good. Going outside now, with who knows how many Drow around, is a good way to get shot at - at least until I can refresh my spells and stock up on Protection from Arrows for our heavy hitters.

I still think we at least need to check the roof. I'd say let Brue use the slippers to go look for trapdoors on the roof of the two rooms we've just cleared first, since I think that's a good idea.

HP 150/155, AC 26/13/24, F +14, R +15, W +6, Init +2, Per +16 (+19 traps)

Sorry I've been out, I came down with a nasty bug on Wednesday, and sent the last two days of the week home in bed. I'm back on my feet now, though, and catching up on everything.

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

Oh, dear. Take it easy and drink lots of water, alright?

HP 150/155, AC 26/13/24, F +14, R +15, W +6, Init +2, Per +16 (+19 traps)

That's basically what I did from Thursday to Sunday. Lots of Vitamin C, zinc, and rest. And about a gallon of Afrin.

As it happens, the server went down at work on Thursday, and only just came back up on Sunday, so I picked two very good days to be gone.

So, I gave you a deadline and then I got busy. Hopefully tonight or first thing int he morning.

Can we take the action of jamming rubble into the locks and apply that to the forward doors? Then complement that by stacking the bookshelves close to the library doors along with a pile of rubble for jamming those locks?

Since we are dealing with drow and their natural abilities, I found this article...illuminating. Note that I have been misinterpreting the darkness/light spells and their counters all wrong for years.

I feel like investing in some scrolls of invisibility will help our efforts to sneak...

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

I need to study more spells that bypass SR...

Or take the Spell Penetration feat

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

So many feats, so little time...

By the by, that Craft (alchemy) check was to ascettain which chemicals in the lab might be most likely to go BOOM if subjected to a sudden rise in temperature, as is produced by a Fireball. ;)

There would be no way to ascertain that from a distance. Hope for a Disney ending, but plan for a Game of Thrones ending.

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

Hmmm. Wish I'd bothered to study Shatter. I could give that Drow a dousing...

HP 150/155, AC 26/13/24, F +14, R +15, W +6, Init +2, Per +16 (+19 traps)

When you start talking about fireball, I think less Disney or Martin and more Bay.

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

I must be out of my mind... >_<; Kelendra, Calla, please tell me at least one of you knows the Stabilize-spell. And guys, when in doubt? Anklebiter will not object to a rez. from one of the Elven Clerics...

Male(HP:(198; DR 2(3 when raging);AC:22/12/22;F+17,R+8,W+9;Init +0;Per +15) Human (Ulfen) Barbarian 13

I'm hoping they reincarnate you and bring you back as an elf just so everyone can be offended ;)

Though with my saves right now, I should be more worried about Lefrik coming back as a goblin

Male(HP:(198; DR 2(3 when raging);AC:22/12/22;F+17,R+8,W+9;Init +0;Per +15) Human (Ulfen) Barbarian 13

Just to be sure, does the sickened penalty apply to chances to stabilize?

Yes, as stabilization is a Constitution (ability) check.

Forgot to say, really grateful those arrows killed the drider. I thought it was going to be still standing and I was really worried about taking another lightning bolt...

I was worried for all of you for a moment. Drider was by far the greater threat...at least until he ran out of lightning bolts. The trogs were there just to get you to bunch up in the doorway :)

Talk to Google Translate.

{We used to have a fun game at work. We'd take some song lyrics and translate them to another language, then from that to another language and then finally back to English. Then see if you can figure out the song.)

Male Goblin Wizard 13 (Abjurer); Init +2; Fly 40 ft.; Darkvision 60 ft,; Perception +5; AC 25 (touch 14, flatfooted 16; +2 Dex., +1 size, +1 natural, +4 armour, +4 shield, +3 deflection, hp 91; Fort +10;Ref +10;Will +13

Since I'm still slumming it with plain ol' masterwork chain shirt, anyone mind if I snag the adamantine chain shirt?

No problem with me. ;) I can't use the stuff anyway.

Fine with me. I'm happy with my mithral.

I was actually hoping to find mithral chainmail as well, but this can hold me over. :)

Enjoy your adamantine chain shirt
