Same here - there was a local con this weekend, so I didn't have time to look into this. I'll peruse this a bit closer, though one thing I'd like are boots of springing & striding. Increase my move speed to 30', and add to my Acrobatics rolls? Yes, please!

Hmm. OK, slight problem. Making a masterwork suit of noqual full plate would cost 13,650 gp. And that's before it's enchanted at all. I know the dwarves said they'd help us out, but not sure if it'll be enough. If we can even get that at half-price (and that seems like a big if to me), we can swing it, but we'll be mostly broke (i.e. almost all our funds will go to that instead of individual disbursement).
On the other hand, it'd give Lefrik a +9 armor bonus; with +3 max Dex and -2 armor check penalty. It would be considered medium armor, so I don't think should interfere with his barbarian powers.
The other possibilities are a slightly lesser heavy armor:
Banded mail (12,750 gp), +7 armor; +3 max Dex; -2 armor check penalty
Half-plate (12,400 gp), +8 armor; +2 max Dex; -3 armor check penalty
That would still be unenchanted. Noqual costs an additional +5,000 gp to make magic, if I understand the rules right, and I have no idea if that is cut in half or not by AB crafting it himself. If I were the GM, I'd rule it is not (so it'd be +5,500 to make it +1).
---
Adding in the two previously unappraised magic weapons, our total gp is now 12,919.5.
---
Also, I think we still need the following appraised, GM:
2 silver bracelets
1 silver ring
jewelry
silver circle
2 unidentified potions
Kelendra Shae
hmmm, a +3 Mithral Agile Breastplate is slightly cheaper than a masterwork suit of noqual that hasn't been enchanted yet, same AC and the breastplate would count as light armor and have better bonuses. Should we just sell the noqual and get more gear at our price level?
DM Bigrin
The dwarves's offer basically negates the extra cost of working with noqual. You can factor that in to your calculations.
This weekend was insane, and so was yesterday. i should have some time today or tomorrow to get the next scene going. Feel free to buy/sell/trade.
silver bracelets - 50g each
silver ring - 100g
jewelry - costume jewelry, 5g
silver circlet - 350g
I don't see any unidentified potions
Bruendor Cavescouter
That's 505 more. Assuming Mott's numbers are prior to splitting, that's 13,424.5 gp. Split five ways is 2684.9gp each, split six ways is 2237.4gp each. Pretty sizable haul!
I'm actually thinking about holding off on the boots for now - they're kinda expensive, and I'd like to do something about my armor first. AB, do you have cat's grace? 'Cause I'm thinking about my original plan for daredevil boots. If you can make it, it's 700gp for a +5 to Acrobatics checks to move through threatened squares, and a possible bonus to attack if I move through an enemy's square. That'd leave me with a good chunk of change to upgrade my armor.
Who knows, maybe the drow will have skirmishers with the boots I want!
Kelendra Shae
wow, so we can calculate noqual armor cost as if the material was normal and we didn't have to pay 5,000 to enchant?
In that case, a +1 noqual breastplate would be 1,350 for AC 7 light armor with no check penalties and a max dex bonus of 5.
Kel is still donating her share to the armor upgrades, she can get hand-down items later.
If we split 6 ways and Kel's share joins the party share for getting armor that would put 4475 in the pool for armor, split that between Lefrik, Brue and Calla and that's 1491 each towards armor. All three could have +1 armor of their choosing, if that sounds good let's do it, and then buy our remaining items.
Anklebiter the Insane
I plan to purchase Cat's grace, and some other spells, too.
Arcane eye, Mirror image, Protection from evil, maybe Fireball. ^^
I would be happy to make you those boots as soon as I've bought and scribed the necessary spell.
Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere
OK, guys, let's finish this up bookkeeping and get back to playing.
We've now got a total of 13,424 gp and 5 sp. Instead of splitting it up first, let's figure out our crafting/gear costs and then split it afterward.
Bruendor
The +1 noqual breastplate for Bruendor would be 1,350; plus 700 for the daredevil boots.
That leaves us with 11,374.5 gp.
Lefrik
We need you to decide what type of armor you want. I think banded mail or half-plate actually makes more sense than full plate. A +1 suit of either would cost 1,400 gp or 1,750 gp.
+1 noqual banded mail (1,400 gp), +8 armor; +3 max Dex; -2 armor check penalty
+1 noqual half-plate (1,750 gp), +9 armor; +2 max Dex; -3 armor check penalty
That leaves us with 9,974.5 gp OR 9,624.5 gp.
GM, does that use up all of our noqual? If not, maybe we can trade some to the dwarves for a little more money or for what Calla wants...
Calla
I'd like to upgrade to a +1 mithril agile breastplate, but it's expensive, assuming we can even get it (unless we can get the dwarves to help us with that too; GM?). It'd cost 4,900 gp (assuming AB enchants it) and would give me +7 armor, +5 max Dex, -0 armor check penalty.
That leaves us with 5,074.5 gp or 4,724.5 gp.
Kelendra and Anklebiter
Kel, are you sure you don't want anything? You could perhaps use a nice suit of armor too. AB, you can use some of that money to buy spells. I'd say just subtract whatever you need. Then we can evenly split what money we have by the end of that.
Weapons?
We have not upgraded any of our weapons. I don't know if we want to do that, but it may just need to wait. Eventually, I think Calla would like a drow-bane bow... Doing so now would cost 3,000 for her hand crossbow, but I don't think that's the most efficient. It'd be 4,000 to have AB make her a +1 drow bane bow, but honestly, I think if we're going to spend money to do so, it makes more sense to enchant one of Bruendor or Lefrik's weapons since they do less switching than Calla (of course, I'm not sure if they're as vindictive as her to want a drow bane weapon). Both already have +1 primary weapons, so it'd cost 3,000 gp for AB to try to give either an additional +1 worth of enchantment.
All of AB's enchanting should just take 4 days (1 day for each of the armors, plus 1 for the boots), which is certainly reasonable, I think. Doing one of the weapons would add three days, which still seems reasonable to me.
Other loot
I'm going to just dole these out now to try to speed things along. Most of these are just who's carrying it, since I assume we'll share as needed.
* Drow sleep poison: Bruendor
* Cloak of resistance +1: Kelendra (her saves are +3/+3/+4 while AB's are +3/+3/+5 so she made sense to me for the moment)
* Wand of CLW (32 charges): Kelendra
* Scroll of charm monster: Anklebiter
* Amulet of natural armor +1: Anklebiter
* Belt of giant strength +2: Lefrik
* 2 lesser restoration potions: 1 to Kelendra, 1 to Calla
* 1 neutralize poison potion: Bruendor
* potion of shield of faith +3: Anklebiter (he has the worst AC)
And finally, we still need to pick one magic item from the cyphermages. I suggest a bag of holding (boring, but useful), the feather-step slippers (allowing 5-foot steps in difficult terrain, which could be useful for Calla with her bow) or a cloak of elvenkind for Lefrik (+5 Stealth).
Anklebiter the Insane
I think that potion of shield of faith should go to someone else.
I'm an Abjurer; boosting my and others' AC with magic is part of my forté.
I will be happy to do whatever enchanting the group needs, but I'll also need a little time to scribe.
Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere
I figure it doesn't really matter with the potion, since it'll likely be doled out before a big fight instead of just taken at a random time. I'd say someone just claim it. If no one does, I'm giving it to Calla. :)
Kelendra Shae
Kel can pass on armor for now and wait to acquire a mithral something later down the line.
Yes to cloak, CLW, and lesser rest potion for Kel.
Bag of Holding sounds good for the item from cypermages.
If we have 500 gp left and money for Anklebiter to purchase Bleed, could he make a Robe of Needles for Kel?
Anklebiter the Insane
*cracks knuckles* Give me the time, give me the means, and I will craft for you!
Anklebiter the Insane
Purchasing a scroll of Bleed to add only costs 12,5 gp. Let's say Kelendra springs for the scroll, or we can go halfsies on it.
Spellcraft to add Bleed to spellbook: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 FAILURE Sorry. :( No Robe of Needles for at least a week. I can't even make sense of the thing for that time.
I did get that lovely scroll of Charm monster. Let's see what I can do with that:
Spellcraft to add Charm monster to spellbook: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 SUCCESS!
Please deduct 90 gp from my allotment for scribing this spell into my spellbook.
I don't have Summon Monster I, but if DM Bigrin will allow Summon Monster III to stand in for it, I can definitely upgrade one of our weapons with the Bane quality.
Spellcraft to add Drow bane to whichever weapon we choose: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 SUCCESS!
I would like to recommend Bruendor's rapier; a sneak attack with a bane weapon adds damage upon damage, making it a very attractive option to one-shot our most dangerous enemies.
If you all agree, let me know and we can do a bit of RP on it. ;)
Buying the scroll of Cat's grace will cost 150 gp.
Spellcraft to add Cat's grace to spellbook: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13. FAILURE.
This does not necessarily mean I will fail at crafting the boots, though!
Spellcraft check to craft Daredevil's boots: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 SUCCESS! Please subtract 700 gp for crafting the daredevil's boots.
Costs so far:
12,5 gp Bleed scroll
90 gp Charm monster scribing
3,000 gp Drow bane-quality to a magic weapon.
150 gp Cat's grace scroll
7,00 gp to craft Daredevil boots
Running total of 3,952,5 gp.
What do we have left after that?
motteditor RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16
I'm happy to have it be Bruendor's rapier.
As for armor, let's then get Lefrik a +1 noqual breastplate, which will be 1,350.
That leaves us with 10,024.5 gp.
That means we've got 28 pounds of noqual we can trade to the dwarves in return for Calla's breastplate -- that comes to 1,400 which puts us at 11,424.5 gp.
Subtract 4,900 for Calla's breastplate, we're at 6524.5 gp.
Subtract AB's total above (minus the 700 gp for the boots, which I already factored in) and we have 3,272 gold we can still spend or split among us.
Bruendor Cavescouter
Yep, that's what taking 10 is there for. Also, there is no drow bane. The bane quality says to pick a monster type, and the most appropriate for this would be "humanoid (pick one subtype)." Drow have the elf subtype, not drow, so it would really be an elf bane rapier. Semantics, really, but still. :)
Anklebiter the Insane
Sure, but Cat's Grace is a handy spell for anyone's money! ^^
I'd be happy to be allowed to buy another scroll of Cat's Grace for another scribing attempt, as well as scrolls of Arcane Eye, Fireball and Mirror Image -- but only if the money allows and this does not cut into the rest of your shares!
Anklebiter the Insane
Bruendor, it'd be fun if you noticed your rapier was gone from your room about the time my gameplay post went up. ;) We can RP up a little surprise Anklebiter is whipping up for you in the lab...
Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere
1 person marked this as a favorite.
We have 3,272 gold. Take from it as needed, I'd say. As long as we're all getting treasured, I don't think any of us care about the exact breakdown, do we?
(I'd say everyone should just watch their wealth by level. Having someone get behind leaves them vulnerable.)
Anklebiter the Insane
Nix the Arcane Eye -- won't be able to cast that for two levels yet.
Instead, I'd like to purchase a scroll of Fireball, Mirror Image and See Invisibility.
Two 2nd-level scrolls and one 3rd-level, so that's 675 to purchase and 170 to scribe, for a total of 845 gp.
Spellcraft checks to learn and scribe:
Fireball 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Mirror image 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
See invisibility 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Provided we have the time in days for it, that should be the lot for now!
Anklebiter the Insane
Oh...? ^^; Okay. Fortunately, these all went fine. *cough* Okay, then. On with the RP?
Kelendra Shae
Ring of Protection +1 would be a good item for AB to craft, everyone in the party can use them, so we could start with one each for Brue and Lefrik, and give our front line another AC boost.
Is that +1 mithral chain on Lefrik that Kel can inherit after he gets the noqual breast plate?
Lefrik Olegson
You had 88 pounds of noqual. Bruendor's breastplate: 30 pounds.
Lefrik does not have heavy armor proficiency, so cannot wear the banded mail or half-plate.
Noqual will sell to the dwarves for 50g/pound (or trade in services at the same rate).
Thank you. People keep trying to 'tank Lefrik up' with heavy armor and well, it just doesn't fit his class
Calumny "Calla" Tas'vere
Then I'd suggest getting him a +1 noqual chain shirt, which gets us 350 gp back total (100 gp for the lighter armor, plus 350 since we'll have 5 more pounds of noqual to trade).
2,777 gp left.
(And I think AB is waiting for you to role-play your rapier, Bruendor.)
Anklebiter the Insane
Ack! I forgot to buy a VERY important spell! >_<; Daylight! With Drow hurling Darkness-effects about like it's chickenfeed, we're definitely going to need that spell!
DM Bigrin
Can I ask you guys to do me a favor? To help me keep track of things a little better, can you place a combat spoiler at the bottom of every combat post. It will help me track combats a little better, and make it easier to see what the current effects are on everyone. That way you only have to update your status bars after combat. An example is below.
HP 23/35. Current AC 22 (total defense)
Active Conditions; fatigued
Active Spell Effects: Bless
Divine Favor: 3/10 rounds used
Longstider: 4 hours
Barkskin: 40 minutes
Smite: 0/1 left today
Anklebiter the Insane
Not a problem. We do that in a Carrion Crown game I'm in as well. ^^ And yes, I'll do the same for my summoned monsters, too.
Anklebiter the Insane
I'm good to keep playing. 'Sides, I'll still be working until the first week of January... ^^; Save the two days of Christmas and New Year's Day, anyway.
Lefrik Olegson
I've already been slowing down a lot, and next week maybe little different. I can try to keep up, but you may need to bot me from time to time which is fine by me.
I definitely won't be posting on either the 21st or 27th, those are travel days for me, long ones.
DM Bigrin
Okay, so somehow in my cleanup (and experimenting with a new loot list), I managed to screw up the old one. I went through everyone's character sheets and put the stuff into the new loot sheet (not the mundane stuff)
It looks like your wealth by level is really low (except for Bruendor and Lefrik). That looks right, given how you have managed to funnel a LOT of resources to these two. Can you each go through your characters and make sure I didn't miss anything?
I am especially concerned about Calla and Kelendra (Anklebiter has spent a lot of his own WBL on his friends).
I'd also relish any feed back about the new loot sheet. It should make it MUCH easier to track WBL and selling.
motteditor RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16
I'm currently running three though I just finished up a fourth, one of many short-lived games (modules and whatnot that have for the most part finished happily).
Three's really my optimal number, but every once in a while I get the itch to do another one. I wish I had time to do another AP or two (or three, since honestly, I like almost all the APs and would like to play them), but it's just not going to happen so I stick to modules and may try some PFS scenarios if I don't get into Superstar.
---
As for gear, it looks like I need to update Calla's spiffy new armor on her sheet, which should add about 4,900 gp value to her armor (minus whatever that studded leather is worth).
The sheet looks good, but doesn't have anyplace that I see for new stuff we loot -- I mean, recover -- as we adventure.
---
Also, no offense to Bruendor, but I'd much rather see you DMPC one of us if we're not posting. Waiting to Monday means we're basically going a week without a post moving us on and that we're holding up for five days for one person. Momentum is critical in PBP play and while we all seem to be willing to stick around for the long term having a round of combat take a week means we'll probably be playing this still when we retire.
