Hey all, still here. Been crazy busy and I think, after more than five straight years of PbP, I was a little burnt out and needed a bit of a break.
If Akiros and I are still welcome, I'm still game to continue along with you all. If not, and/or you want some new blood along, no worries and no hard feelings.

The morning finds Berrin sitting, with a serious expression on his face, at his desk, a thing used more for gathering dirty clothing and dirty food plates more than anything in Berrins mind, a blanket draped over his shoulders and a space cleared on the desk for a piece of parchment and an open ink bottle.

A Brevic Varisian in her early sixties, long black hair going grey, hooked nose and a frown on her face. An older, heavier set version of Emma. Pragmatic would be a kind way to describe her, tough more accurate. Her husband was (I see him as missing, hoped to be dead) a drunk and a gambler, most of her kids (I'm thinking either four or five, counting Berrin as the eldest) run in suspicious crowds and some are outright swindlers and thieves after their father, so she's had a lot of disappointment in her life. Retired adventurer, warrior most likely, has a mean swing with the cooking pan, took an arrow to the knee and placed her hopes on a man who turned out to be a deadbeat.
Her first instinct in social interactions is to presume she's being lied too or at least not told the whole truth. She's straightforward and honest, and she speaks her mind to the brink of being outright rude (You can see where Berrin got that from). She's kind and loving in her way, can be overbearing and overprotective, but has a harsh way of showing it.
Last Berrin knew she earned a living doing laundry, she won't take alms, she's proud and doesn't like to be looked down on and not afraid to say it, but she's a hard working and strong so she keeps her job solely on how much easier her coworkers job is with her rather than without her.
I'm still pondering what to do sibling wise about Berrin, all I can say now is that one brother is a thief and one sister is married to a good man and is just like mum.

@Khaladon - Echoing DMB's statement. I also definitely understand burnout from writing (mostly from the DM side). To make Akiros your own, you've moved him aggressively into a new second beginning as a redeemed chosen of Iomedae, and I for one am interested to see how you continue to evolve him in the storyline.
Meowzebub - I hate to single him out, but next week we're coming up on two full months without posting, even though most other PbP games are active (with four posted on as recently as yesterday). Meowzebub is a talented player and writer, so if it's a 'playing Zander' problem I'd hate to see that as the issue for no longer playing, even if it means working with DMB on a different character.
Downrightamazed - Mentally, I'm just assuming Taisper is NPC-shelved just like Tandlara was/is, with the caveat that either could come back with DMB approval. A real shame, but as Steven pointed out it's even rougher for the players in his 3+ PbP games.
That can flex up if in the midst of a back-and-forth dialogue with shorter posts, or flex down if Verik is out-of-scene and has to internally monologue by himself or wait on NPC interaction.
Typically I will post in evenings Eastern Standard Time after work.
Depending on what DMB thinks, it seems that Verik would have completed items #1-4 (Berrin's Cloak, Akiros' Belt, Akiros' Cloak and Nikolai's "Cloak") by the current (Gozran 4710) timeline, and can be incorporated into your builds ... may need those before we deal with trolls and centaurs! Check out "Verik's Current Crafting Schedule" on his Profile tab and let me know - I'll move them to my "completed" list once you're updated.
Posting in-game on the 20th Gozran action later on tonight EST after work and kids' soccer game fun...

Ouch. just saw this. No its not the game (although Zander was not an original creation). All my games are equally mad at me. I am living out of boxes during a remodel and work has been increasingly ramping up and cutting my time to sneak in posts. I currently don't have internet at home and might not for a another month+. Your game is so involved that it is hard to sneak a quick peak and then post something equally quick, and then the guilt sets in.
Time is my precious resource right now. It is a good time in my life, but hell on my on-line gaming. I can go to a library this weekend and get caught up if that is still an option (if not sooner) will poke head in to the comment section to say hi and start catching up.

I'm just sitting here with popcorn as you guys go at it.
Plus I've got a paper to write this weekend, so I might not be remarkably postful.

I described the cloak in the wedding scene. I've been assuming it's finished. I don't think I added it to my equipment list yet. Fire resist 5 and +2 resist saves?
Oh yeah I grabbed the copy from your description and put it on there - very cool description and look. It's a +1 Resistance (saves) as Verik is not strong enough to get to +2 until next level (6th Cleric), but I also believe the Fire Resistance is 10, as that's the lowest resistance from a Resist Energy spell (and maybe more importantly from a 'minor' resist on magic armor).

I'm really glad to hear this, as it explains a fair bit of the activity and sets a level of expectation for the future. I am glad to hear that Meowzebub is doing well amidst RL adjustments!
With no sign of Khaladon in the last ten days since the OOC post across his games, we're effectively at four players keeping up the game until one or more players get back to active status. I only mention this in the context of an upcoming action mission, as I'm not sure how this affects our decisions with so many NPC-shelved characters.
Khaladon is still active on Facebook. I will poke him there. Hopefully the bloody coming violence with the troll-centaur alliance will wrest his interest.
Secondly, Celeador - who runs a great Way of the Wicked game I am in - asked me a few daysago if I would consider adding another character. We are lobbing ideas back and forth, and it looks like he may want an elf wizard who is Pathfinder Gunderson's partner. If you all accede, some new blood always helps.

Speaking for myself, I would highly welcome this. Not only does the recent passage of time in-game allow for the new entrance of storylines and characters, but the concept mentioned is definitely one that would bring a fresh new perspective to the story. Plus, I know that you always sort out the inclusion of a new character to the story with great reverence, so no worries there. From a player perspective, I would definitely welcome some new posting vitality, and I also know you don't recommend players to your games lightly.
So...uh..err...thumbs up here!
Update on my schedule: We are having fewer murders year-to-year, so I'm not working any active murder cases (though I am helping out on a few). However, I'm working on finishing my school papers, one of which was moved up by a week. The next two weeks should be particularly sparse while I finish them, but I look forward to fun times with trolls soon.
Sorry Gang for the absence. I am still about, just time crunched. I am living in a temporary residence while my house is remodeled for the next two months. No internet there, so I rely on coffee shops. My work has me supervising a fairly important project which means busting my butt to keep my subordinates flush with tasks and data. Its a good thing, but has really impacted my paizo forum time.
Most of my free internet time had been dealing with the remodel ordering parts and supplies, but that is all completed now, so I hope to have a little more time to do the things I enjoy, like this forum. Sooooo. I have a lot of catch up reading to do and look to get my feet back in the water.
Well it's great to see you pop in Meowzebub! Glad that work and home renovations are going well for you, even if taking you away from other fun stuff for a bit. You haven't missed any shenanigans with the trolls, though that appears to be coming up front-and-center soon. Looking forward to seeing you back when you're able.
(oh and by the way Zander is still showing 5th level, just so you have a chance to update him before going troll hunting...one day Verik will have iterative attacks and be cool like that...yeah)

I mentioned before that some things are moving really fast in Nikolai's development. I will post a couple of flashback scenes this weekend, and if anyone wants to respond to them, that's great. I just need to clean a few things up to reflect Nikolai's growth over time.
I want to offer the caveat that, though Nikolai might make assumptions in character or make the occasional awkward gesture, I don't have any expectations about who is nice to him, loyal to him, loves him, etc.
Delinquent on the posting of Verik the evening before they head out (dratted work project deadline issues), but working on this tonight.
Update: finished three out of four papers. Semester nearly done. New case received, but not a "whodunit" and thus relatively light workload. Should have something up for y'all tomorrow.
Hey guys. A heads up from me here.
I'll be moving this summer, end of July most probably, so my internet might get hectic during that time but bigger news; I just got accepted into Reykjavik University where I'll be studying for a BSc in Computer Science for the next three years, starting august 19th. I don't know how that will impact my schedule or my ability to play play-by-post, but know that this will be the last game I drop if I need to drop games (which I'm certain I will).
I got a surprise subpoena yesterday to testify in court this morning. Sorry for not posting yesterday.
At least I will be a lot more free to post soon. Looking forward to it.
Oh, and congrats to Berrin. That's pretty impressive.
I seem to have forgotten Jemini's horse's name... Wildflower? I was going to put it in the post. Also, Jemini, what did you pick as your Paladin level 5 ability?
I miss the running joke of Berrin's terrible Knowledge and Survival rolls, followed up by only being able to state the obvious.
That, and horrible diplomacy rolls. But hey, I just roll with the rolls ;P
Lord Lebeda still has a poor opinion of Berrin.
Just a heads-up: I'm planning to catch-up this weekend. My work (software development) is in severe crunch time currently. Hopefully there'll be a light at the end of the tunnel soon. :)

@DM Barcas: I agonized for a while over picking the one or the other, but ultimately I settled with the Weapon Spirit. Given the special nature of her sword, I figured that would lead to a more natural way for her powers and story to mingle.

I hope to replicate something similar in building a pathfinder lodge attached or possibly in conjunction with a small school of magical within in New Haven. I would also like to work with you on some Item crafting later on in the game. I'm going to be working on the Loremaster Prc and that has a hefty feat buy-in.
@LoreKeeper: Mechanically I am going to play a Elf Wizard with the Foresight subschool. Isaac has allowed me to tweak my spell list a little by giving up a lot of my elven racial traits for the Mystic Past Life trait. I'm going to use this to gain divination spells usually limited to witches that aren't accessible by a wizard. Spells like Augury, Divination and the like. Eventually I am going to try to pick up Loremaster Prc, as I think it fits well with the character design.

Absolutely! Just in case it potentially could affect your desired feat choices, I was going to have Verik take 'Craft Magic Arms & Armor' at 7th level to give the group that capability, but then I was pretty much done with crafting feats. I'll still plan on doing that unless it duplicates what you wanted to do.
Hey guys, you're all pretty rules savvy so I'm wondering if you could help me with something; I seem to remember reading rules regarding sinking in water if you are unable to act (unconscious, dazed, paralyzed) and iirc a medium creature sinks if it's carrying 16 lbs or more but here's the thing; I can't find the rules anywhere... Any ideas? I've looked under the Swim skill and the Aquatic Terrain over on d20pfsrd but nothing. Help?
