Y'all are looking good.
Tandlara, you need more spells. What method would be best for you: scrolls or finding another witch?
Berrin, you asked for the commission for your items on the 7th of Gozran, yes? It's now the evening on the 11th, so it's probably in transit back from Restov. It should be there by Taxfest.

Taisper Stozs |

I'll finish leveling tomorrow; I finally got my copy of UM this past week and have been poring over the new Inquisitor stuff. Pretty sure I'm gonna go with Favored Judgment for my feat and Forbid Action for my 1st-level spell. Everything else will be as I planned, tho.

Tandlara |

I do indeed need new spells. I ordered those scrolls for just that reason, I want to fill up my list, especially as the now primary spellcaster.
But finding another witch would be really cool!
My current list of desired utility spells:
1st -
comprehend languages
unseen servant
Diagnose disease
Sanctify corpse
2nd -
alter self
augury
delay poison
gentle repose
see invisibility
status
Then I'll learn some more battle spells and effects so that I keep relevant.

Okay, Alexius and Corwin are introduced! They're on their way from Restov (along with y'all's stuff).
Barcas, I have enough money to buy a horse and a dog, if that is allowed. Can I enter them in my profile? Also, what did you have in mind for my black blade? I have introduced it in the story as heirloom weapon, but I haven't taken the trait because I don't know what you plan to do with it. I sorta had in mind for it to be somehow tied with the disappearance of Rogravias.

DM Barcas |

You'll find out. Oh, you'll find out.
You can have both a horse and a dog. Keep in mind that the party already has Reggie, which might not get along with another animal.
As for the trait, I don't like any of the traits that give a +1 hit bonus, such as Sword Scion (from the KM Player's Guide) and Heirloom Weapon. They're just too powerful.

Black Blades have motivations and secrets of their own - things that the GM gets to play with. At this point one of my real-life GM's gets an evil grin on his face.

Sorry for cross-posting from the CC thread, but I have been following along and saw the above post. If group does turn out to need a refill, I can offer to help out. I can get something up quick, either a version of Corwin or something different (perhaps a little more Rogue-y to fill a party need) if you all wanted a quick 'in the family' solution to keep things moving.
If not, please ignore and sorry for the interruption. See you all back in Ustalav.

Sorry for not being on top of my posts today. I haven't been in any mood to write today, suffering through an officer in my department being killed by a drunk driver. Link. I'm pretty upset by it, as we all are.
Don't drink and drive.
I saw your facebook, I'm very sorry that this happened. My deepest condolences.

I've been lurking here since my attempts to locate Zander and just saw this. What a tragedy on so many levels. I want to extend my condolences, as well.

Taisper Stozs |

Thank you, sir! You honor me. ^_^
And yeah; Taisper's road just got a fair bit rougher. It'll be interesting to see how it ends up working with the rest of the group, esp. with the two new members...
Finished leveling him up, BTW; only thing I changed my mind on was I took Favored Judgment (Humanoid/Human) for my feat instead of Expanded Arcana. Everything should be up-to-date in his profile.

DM Barcas |

Here's an example, from your last post:
Alexius looked at the nondescript stranger, an eyebrow moving almost imperceptibly at his question. In Cheliax, strangers rarely make conversation for no purpose, always jockeying to increase their power or that of their family. Such was the nature of the politics of his native land. People in Brevoy, while similar in their ruthless political maneuvering, are strangely friendly. He certainly feels suspicious about it, and answers carefully with his words chosen to deliver as little meaning as possible. "I have my reasons," the big Cheliaxan softly replies. "And you, why are you going there?"
Just a request. If you're pressed for time, that's fine. I see that you're leaving on a business trip soon, so I understand if you don't have a lot of time to write a novel. Looking at your posts on your other aliases, you have the talent even if you don't always have the time. That's fine; I just want you to remember that short posts are the exception, rather than the norm.

Taisper Stozs |

I didn't consider Taisper's reaction. Wonder if he'll be relieved or upset?
"He" being Taisper or Verik? I would think Verik would, in a way, be kind of relieved to have the decision of 'do I keep going out and fighting things and riding this thrice-damned horse' be taken utterly out of his hands, but of course only Rellen would know for sure.
For Taisper's part, he's honestly terrified that this could be it; game over. He thought Jemini and Verik were bluffing, but the sudden appearance of a bishop has him re-thinking things. He's gonna be super paranoid and on his guard until he finds out for certain that this group isn't there to either haul him back to Absalom to be tried for the murder of Orlivanch, or perhaps execute some officially sanctioned Frontier Justice.
Being 19, sociopathic, and an oldest child, Taisper has a hard time grasping that things aren't always about him, so of course he's blind to the fact that the bishop's arrival has nothing to do with him at all, and that he should just calm the hell down.

DM Barcas |

Okay, I finally got caught up in experience.
Since post #1803, when you went to go find the boggard and return, I upped the share ratio because of Verik/Zander's absence and the arrival of Alexius and Corwin. They are still a little behind everyone else, but it should balance out with the experience from defeating this assassin. I started them out at the average experience of the others, including the bugbear raid.
Congratulations to Tandlara, who came in second during this period! Keep up the good work. Also congratulations to Taisper, who received my first-ever 5-point for his dream post. Our current multiplier is 8 points, so that was worth a whopping 40 points (12 directly to him, 18 shared amongst everybody else).
Alexius: +455 XP [0 combat/455 RP] (5712 XP total)
Berrin: +1353 XP [658 combat/695 RP] (5804 XP total)
Corwin: +460 XP [0 combat/460 RP] (5717 XP total)
Jemini: +1420 XP [658 combat/762 RP] (6156 XP total)
Taisper: +1319 XP [658 combat/661 RP] (5969 XP total)
Tandlara: +1377 XP [658 combat/719 RP] (5690 XP total)
Verik: +1219 XP [658 combat/611 RP] (6304 XP total)
Zander: +1168 XP [658 combat/510 RP] (5618 XP total)
The average experience is 5866, which is 21.7% of the way between levels 3 and 4. Considering our goal is to level every 1000 posts, this is exactly where we want to be considering we are on post 2218 (i.e. 21.8% of the way between 2000 and 3000).

Shocking Grasp + Intensified Spell = Victory
I have an elf magus in my RL CotCT game. His Shocking Grasp hits like a truck and a half.
It was pointed out to me that I should play a Dex based magus with that combo, but it felt like to much optimization to me. But I kinda like the idea of Shocking Grasp + Intensified Spell. Since magus doesn't have that much first level spell slots, it seems acceptable.

Oh wow. Perfect.
I'm still thinking that the xp-share ratio can/should be reduced; as it stands there is very little xp difference between highest and lowest total. Mathematically, even if you didn't have any sharing because about half the xp comes from combat it is impossible for anybody to be more than 1 level behind everybody else.

DM Barcas |

Okay, since we've got two new players who just got into their first combat, I'll reiterate the standards for information. This is just to keep things clear. The mechanical information goes at the top of the post, with the in-character "fluff" below. (The AC/hp/resources are what you have at the end of your actions, taking things like Combat Expertise or whatever into account.) Resources include things like spells and rage rounds. Actions will be dependent on what exactly you do during the round; it is potentially one line (full-round action) or up to three (swift, standard, move).
I prefer attacks in the method that I use for NPCs.
