Well, at least he passed the first test :D
Yeah, channel might have done the trick but with saves and whatnot, I don't know how long it could have taken me to drop him - I was actually surprised that it ended like that, as I was simply trying to get rid of the entanglement and suffocation.
By the way, do Oracles actually carry holy symbols?

Gwenyth |

Just popping in to say hello to my favorite group of intrepid adventurers!
I'm lurking instead of posting on the boards (I'm doing editing work for Rogue Genius Games, so professional decorum and all that...), but I'm here daily, and I do enjoy keeping up on your adventures.
Detect Undead is still a stupid spell :-)

Durin Stonehammer |

Hello and good day to you as well! :)

Barak Varr |

Apologies for lack of posting (again) I have a new job and it's been taking me all over the country I don't even have time for dota. Will be making a big post tomorrow 13.03.14 an should be back to regular posting after that

Dan E |

So to clarify as I know DM hates loot not being done.
Durin's proposal to which there were no objections was:
- Durin and Zanzu get a ring of protection + 2 each
- Arachiel gets Durin's ring of protection +1
- Zanzu gets dagger +1
Gem is party item currently being held by Zanzu. If he's going to go claw something up he can always hand to someone else.
We buy pot of neutralise poison and barkskin + 2. Propose barkskin goes to Durin, suggest np also go to a frontliner. Arachiel and dwarves poison saves are pretty good so would suggest Zanzu there as well.
This has dragged so sing out if you have an issue.
Edit: Now I think about it we should probably ask the hag to make us some potions while we're away. I'll think on that.

Marcus Claudius Marcellus |

OK possible potion buys. Hag makes druid potions up to lvl 3. Think I've excluded UM/UC. * is where I suggest we actually order a few.
1st
Remove Sickness (condition supression)
*Feather Step (for frontliners where terrain clearly a problem)
Keen Senses (trapfinding?)
(I got excited about potential for Read Weather until I realised its personal)
2nd
*Barskin (pity Aspect of the Bear is personal)
*Bears Endurance (everyone has str or dex belts, bonus to fort saves seems good to have)
Resist Energy (acid? given hints here, wand probably better but can't currently get, I can also write scrolls)
Restoration (lesser) (Telurion can cast so probably don't need)
Spider Climb (maybe 1 or two for Zanzu?)
3rd
Nothing jumping out as worth the expense except for neutralise poison. Telurin can cast so between him the pot we're buying and the restorative oinment we seem good.

Durin Stonehammer |

It is a ring of protection +2 Zanzu. :) And you are to add a potion of neutralize poison as well I believe.
A note about the potion of barkskin... Durin already has a +1 enhancement bonus to natural armor (amulet) meaning that he will only realize another +1 to AC from it. Would it make more sense going to someone else?
Feather step seems like a good idea. Same with bear's endurance. All are decent really.
What about bull's strength? Not for Durin so much as he only nets +1 to hit and damage, but maybe some of the others?
So we are converting the 1200 gp found in the Bender Brother's to iron bits. Does Marcus (or anyone) have the other 800 in gold to convert?

Dan E |

Fine with barkskin going somewhere else. Arachiel then, don't think he has an amulet of na?
Assuming that Durin had enough bits for his arm then I've got the 800gp. Just give me a credit back from the goup take.
I was thinking I'll take that expensive tapestry and give it to the hag as a deposit/surety. She makes the potions and we buy them when they are ready. We die in the wasteland she can keep the thing.
How about this then for starters
- 6 potions of feather step
- 3 potions of barksin + 2
- 6 potions of bears endurance
- people to advise on bulls strength

Telurion |

Guys, I am trying to catchup with all the gameplay and OOC debate you guys been having, just so in case Telurion is to be brought up to speed, at least he'll know what's on the table.
Had one question to drop on you - is there some sort of loot spreadsheet, and group diary or journal?
EDIT: One other note, Telurion currently has not magical way to deal with poisons, and his Heal skill is not through the roof, but still at +15, coupled with the bonuses from the Antidote Kit and/or Antitoxin, he should at least be able to make some 'repairs'

Dan E |

Not trying to give you a hard time and please note I'm just making stuff up as I go along.
If you go back through the OOC chat you'll see several discussions on loot distribution. Basically we divide total treasure found into shares with a seperate party/consumable share. If you want an item you make a claim. If multiple people want and can't decide amicably based on whats best for everyone then roll off. If you get an item you pay its sale (half) cost out of your share.
Basically its a system aimed at getting everyone around the same WBL. If you make lots of claims then you'll get less of a gold share. Equally though items should go to the best suited for them. Occassionally something comes along (like gem of seeing) which busts the system but they can be dealt with on a case by case basis.
We really only need to do the adjustment when we do a mass sale/buy of stuff which we haven't done yet and probably won't do for some time given lack of shopping opportunities. Until then just put your hand up for stuff you want and consider most of the consumable stuff as party items that can be shared around.

Durin Stonehammer |

You out there Alex?

Durin Stonehammer |

A house viewing? Are you in some sort of witness protection program? You seem to move a lot! :D

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

I've had to make changes to my old macro's due to the player roster changing. Please check your bonuses and shout out if they are incorrect.
Initiative-
Arachiel: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Durin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Kirilarien: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Telurion: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Marcus: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Zanzu: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Barak: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 (Favoured Terrain Desert +2)
Perception-
Arachiel: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Durin: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Kirilarien: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Telurion: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Marcus: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Zanzu: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 (Special- Trap Spotter)
Barak: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29 +2 in Desert (Favoured Terrain)

Just some mechanics OOC stuff - After informing the group of the nature of the ability, by default Telurion will use Life Link on all party members every morning. Is that ok?

Telurion |

Another thing - I seem to remember seeing a ring of protection +1 being handed down from someone who got a better one? Was it Durin? Did anyone get it in the end? Telurion could use it if not.

Does this include Marcus' familiar Kirilarien? Its ok by me, medium range is fine in marching situations etc. Remember it will break when it leaves medium range (scouting etc.).

Durin Stonehammer |

Init and perception bonuses are correct Alex. (+13 to notice unusual stonework)
I believe we are still carrying the dwarf's bones... in a bag... with us... back to the place it usually haunts. :P
I'm fine with Life Link Telurion... but are you sure you want to do so with Durin? He takes a lot of hits. :)
The +1 ring was to go to Arachiel. As of the writing of this post, it doesn't seem to have been added to character sheet. :P
XP logged. New total = 47860 of 51000 needed to level.

Telurion |

Medium range for Life Link currently means 160' - just so you guys know :D
@AK: Telurion can establish 6 life links so yes, he is including if both Marcus and herself allow it.
@Durin: Yep, life link on ya anyways - it can be severed as a immediate action anyway, and it only transfers 5hp of damage at a time from any single link. Besides, that is one of the reasons Telurion is there (would be better if he had LoH, but I am giving it a try nonetheless)
By the way, I love the idea behind The LAst Outpost - what a project this could become! How hard was the fight against Tloxox, the Barghest? :D

![]() |

None of the fights have been especially hard on them yet, because the group is larger than the AP expects. This means the difficulty curve is going to scale to the harder end over time, I believe, with the level deficit making up for your greater numbers.
Tloxox punched well above his weight from an incredible amount of misses due to his displacement spell.

Durin Stonehammer |

I was not trying to shame Talomyr. :(

Durin Stonehammer |

Good :)

Durin Stonehammer |

I was under the impression that we were going to search for the dwarves in the Dead Fields first. Durin is really not interested in fighting the ghost again.
(As Barak takes the bones upstairs... :P )

Durin Stonehammer |

Does anyone even have a tent? :)
Durin has his blanket and bedroll. :)
What about erecting a shelter out of Aasimars? ;)
Otherwise it is rope trick or acid showers for us. :P

![]() |

Was about to put this into IC but I realised probably better in OOC.
Telurion, theres a lot of inaccuracies there. Two of you are Aasimar. That leaves Kiri, Marcus, Barak and Durin who each took 6 points of damage, proccing Life Link one time each.
They heal up 5 each from Life Link, dealing 20 damage to you. Your healing brings you up to 11 points of damage while Kiri, Marcus, Barak and Durin have 1 point of damage left each.
Marcus, your actually heading south not north- the Boiling Lands are the NW quadrant and the Dead Fields are the SW. Think you got that from your latter text though.
Larger update to follow this evening.

Telurion |

You're absolutely right AK, it was my bad - I only realized the first 2 points of acid damage.
Actually I think it should be more like:
- First 2 points of damage on all => They all heal, and Telurion takes 8
- Second 4 points of damage on all => They all heal, and Telurion takes 16
So no one should be damaged, and Telurion should have taken 24 points of damage, as they occur in different rounds?
If so, would it be ok to retcon Telurion's actions to use a Channel instead of a CLW?
Thanks for the correction.

Actually I think it should be more like:
- First 2 points of damage on all => They all heal, and Telurion takes 8
- Second 4 points of damage on all => They all heal, and Telurion takes 16
That is not how Life Link works, hence my explanation of the end result above.
Each round at the start of your turn, if the bonded creature is wounded for 5 or more hit points below its maximum hit points, it heals 5 hit points and you take 5 hit points of damage.
Not until the second acid damage hit, were any characters wounded for 5 or more hit points.
I'd rather not retcon. Mark off the CLW.
