Hi Stomphoof...thanks for the nice words about Chi, though its not a particularly strong build....by that I mean I came across a much better build when I was DMing...however I'm like Gwen, I'm really quite fond of Chi and hope she can last a lot longer, or to the end. We've got a really good group of players here and Alex is one of the best DMs I've played with on the boards. But I try not to tell him to often, in case his head swells too much .. :) Oh, he's a scary DM too, never sure if we'll get out of here alive, its exciting.

Glad we'll be playing together in Megan's Carrion Crow...it should be fun.

Actually, vegepygmys are a fairly old monster in terms of D&D/Pathfinder. They first appeared in the 1st edition module Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, which also is likely the inspiration for Numeria and all of the "technology" there.

For someone playing less time then me you sure seem to DM better then I have in the past :P I think its less about how long you have been playing and more about how well you grasp the rules and things :)

When I first started 3.5 I nommed the rulebooks cover to cover over and over... By the 2nd session I was correcting the DM and by the 4th the Dm had lost interest and had writers block... I started DMing and have never really played much since (except pbp in last year or so)

Don't you ever get the urge to play? Or are you one who prefers to be the man behind the scenes?

I'm a horrible, horrible player due to far too much DMing. I pity and thank those who DM for me on the PbP boards, and i'm worse in RL (don't currently have time for a RL group anyway). Particularily in RL, I have nasty backseat DM tendencies.

As a matter of preference, I much prefer to DM anyway.

I can second that. I have a tendency to metagame WAY too much in my RL games. Just like someone who can guess the ending to a movie because they've watched so many, I can usually guess what's going to happen halfway through an adventure. It's better in PbP games since I can think twice before I say something, but at the table I tend to exercise far too much gamer-sense.

And for reference, I've been playing since Planescape came out. ;)

Yeah, I got the Basic D&D boxed set for X-mas 1978 (I was in 5th grade). Started really playing in summer of 1980, transitioned to AD&D in 1981 (got all of the books - including the original Fiend Folio and the Deities and Demigods with the Cthulhu Mythos, the Elric of Melnibone characters, and the Lankhmar characters - for X-mas that year).

Why back in my day, we a 5 different saving throw types:

Poison, Paralyzation, and Death Magic...Clerics were really good at those
Petrification, Polymorph
Rod, Staff, Wand
Breath Weapon
Spell

An AC of 0 was good, hell a -6 was even better.

We didn't have any fancy simple, martial, and exotic weapon groups. Fighters got 4 weapon proficiencies at 1st level and we were damn glad to have them.

Wizards got one first level spell for the day and that was it...none of these fancy cantrip things....at least until Unearthed Arcana (1st ed.) came out.

First DND Item I ever owned was the Forgotten Realms box for Undermountain. I always thought it was awesome.

I started with AD&D 2nd Ed myself :)

I am 32, so I would be the closest thing to your experience, I think, Stomp.

I hate it when you youngsters all start playing this how long have you been playing it sort of game. I've only been playing for a short while, say 10 years, but have a feeling I may have left school before Talomyr...

I don't even recall seeing D&D being available when I was at school, but we did have those wacky Monty Python boys on TV before they started the repeats....

Oh I know what 22 yr olds look like AK, my daughter's one too. Final year up at Royal Holloway University... So when you roll be kind to me, it could be your dad.

Ok- 61 pages and 13,000 words; mostly generated in the last three days and submitted yesterday. Add to that the software my study ran on crashed due to insufficient testing by the computer science monkeys I was assigned.

I am mentally and physically drained but I think its a good piece of work. I'm proud to announce my triumphant return to PbP- my posting might still be slow for a month or so but should be much better than the last couple of weeks.

So, thanks for your patience everyone.
