FYI, I am on a business trip to Phoenix, Arizona until Friday. I have my phone, and I can post from there (the formatting is tough, so forgive me on it), but the opportunities to do so will still be few and far between. Please feel free to take whatever actions you need to for Gwen in order to keep things rolling.

For those interested, I converted Klorax in a similar manner to how I do my kingmaker conversion; target XP +50%. This resulted in Klorax ending up with four levels Barbarian (Invulnerable) and two Ranger- but even the book version of Klorax was pretty deadly (four levels total).
The version you fought had a beastly 88HP and Damage Reduction 2/-, and was a CR5- not meant to be too difficult but Barbarian/Ranger combo's usually hit a bit above their CR... Especially when they steal potions from the dead witches stash (bears endurance, shield of faith +3).

As it won't affect anything now, i'll explain it, but only for OOC purposes; your never going to get a chance to find this stuff out IC now as you've massacred the tribe.
I still expect Marcus to remain pretty worried about it...
From his tactics-
Klorak is somewhat obsessed with blood, especially since one of Malikadna’s many lies to him was that the blood of his enemies can increase his virility. The round after he first damages a foe, he attempts a touch attack (this action provokes an attack of opportunity and forces him to drop or sheath his scimitar) to gather the foe’s blood on his palm so he can smear the blood across his chest and face, rolling his eyes and howling maniacally as he does so. He does this the same every round after he drops a foe into negative hit points.
I omitted him doing it more than once, because frankly you guys are effective enough that to do it more than once just makes it a cakewalk. Klorax is the chieftain of the tribe and therefore the only one allowed to mate with the females; but hes been unable to sire children for many years. He took potions from Malikadna to help increase his virility, but it was actually these potions that stopped him siring children; the witch taking her vengeance for an old grudge that Klorax has long forgotten.

I don't mind saying, it didn't feel like a cake walk to Chi, if she ever has to get involved, she's a worried girl...and I'm a worried player...
Great fight by the way Alex.
I like the way you upped the main man, I assume he was the only one that was upped. I have a strong bunch in the game I'm DMing, they hit very hard. I'll try to use a similar technique.

Ha. I totally called the witch taking vengeance thing :)
I think we were a little bit disorganised (well I for one was) and nearly paid the price. We were really lucky noone got crit and Savarend finished his mooks so quickly.

The whole tribe was larger by about 12-15 individuals to compensate for your greater numbers. Klorax and Malikadna were also upped, but the witch never got close enough to use her abilities under a hail of arrows and bolts.
When I get a chance, I will put a big update up describing the camp etc.

For whats its worth I suggest giving up on the battle. Tun'ada is the only one left who can hurt it and it will take many rounds for him to chew through its AC. The chances of paralyzation first have to be astronomically high. Maybe Tun'ada can manage a fighting retreat while the rest of you carry the dwarf?
Edit: Didn't see Alex's post. Maybe were being too pessimistic? You can do it!

I have to tell you, the choice between whether to Channel to Harm or Heal right there was one of the tougher strategic decisions I've ever made playing this game.
Coincidentally, I LOVE that Pathfinder made the Cleric(/Oracle) draw that distinction...that alone balanced the class perfectly. Now, if only they had kept heavy armor proficiency...

OOC as an elf, she may be more resistant to some of the undead's abilities.

Well, Gwen missed with her crossbow even on a 19 when firing into melee. I maintain that this foe isn't THAT tough, Klorax would have stomped all over her and her lacedons and is a higher CR; but obviously the party is low on resources...

This is Chi's plan, at the entrance to the current tavern, I think there is a significant drop off a ledge to the cavern floor V21, so there would be some dancing lights just off the ledge, hoping to give just enough illumination to indicate that was the way the party had gone...then cast obscuring mist at the cavern entrance V21/17 to obscure the drop...
...hoping he evil cleric will fall over the cliff, have some damage and give us time to escape a little...is Chi correct about the cavern at V21?
....alternates are to hide the cavern exit in V21/V20....
or just wait until its time to climb up the rope in V19.

The suspense is killing, and any round now you will have dead lurkers dropping from ceiling(*). With luck, her Evilness will be hit square on the head - but with the luck you've had lately she'll end up death knelling all of us and heal up.
what i mean to say is: following this closely, great read. Hoping you survive somehow, or that AK allows ghoul characters in the party.
(*)yup, the ceiling is full of invisible spiderclimbing lurkers. If it were a higher level campaign we'd have gaseous form. Scrying is for squishies.
PS Gwen: As a norwegian, I particularly appreciated when celestial switched to Icelandic - that is after all the language of the norse mythology so it feels (and sounds) very right. (also, the pain of seeing how horrible google translates is now someone elses problem).
PPS AK: sorry for peeking at the 'no peeking' spoilers. I claim lurker diplomatic immunity.

Yeah, I just found myself getting a lot of really cool looking letters using Icelandic, it seemed a better fit for Celestial. For this purpose I could give a toss how close the translation actually is, obviously, but I am not surprised that it was terrible...web-based translators clearly have a long way to go, LOL! Chances aren't good of course that they can defeat Nylithati quickly but... they do have a day or so for both (assuming Savarend doesn't get eaten).
This encounter seems like a good case for hero points. :) Poor rolls really took there toll. As did the "never retreat" mentality. :)
And I may be wrong here, but Jask's comments seem to indicate that you may be under the impression that multiple exposures to a disease make it harder to resist/cure. Poisons are the only affliction that stack like that.
Keep up the good work Alex! I look forward to your recruitment thread for Carrion Crown! ;)

I'm aware only poisons stack like that, but if she is systematically and continually exposing him to Ghoul Fever he WILL become infected- the thing she can't influence is whether he succumbs to it.

Savarend was killed by Death Knell, which has the death subtype. As such, raise dead will not work on him.
I've learned something new today. Raise dead doesn’t work on someone killed by a death attack or effect. I'm not sure how I have missed that before, but thanks for enlightening me! Too bad they didn't find a scroll of resurrection instead. :)
I'm not a big fan of hero points- sometimes the heroes lose. Thats the way it should be.
Yeah, we don't use them either, but I have been thinking about it with our RL group. I don't have a problem with heroes dieing, but I want it to be the result of something other than a string of unlucky die roles. Much like I don't want major villains defeated by the same.
In this case, I don't feel sorry for Savarend as his death was the result of his choice not to flee. Tun'ada on the other hand, ended up a victim as a result of the other characters refusal to flee and also the result of all the characters subsequent poor rolls. I wouldn't have had a problem with Tun'ada using a hero point to avoid being paralyzed and thus being able an attempt to flee.
I'm aware only poisons stack like that, but if she is systematically and continually exposing him to Ghoul Fever he WILL become infected- the thing she can't influence is whether he succumbs to it.
I was just checking. There is no doubt that Tun'ada will be infected, and will turn into a ghoul at some point. I was just pointing out that the DC of the affliction wasn't being increased for each bite, making the remove disease check harder than it should be in the event the characters attempt to use the potion on Tun'ada.
Just trying to help Tun'ada. Sometimes I "help" the players, sometimes I "help" the DM. :)
Once again, thank you for allowing me to interject, I am finding it extremely helpful for working out the kinks in my own game. My RL Kingmaker game is definitely going to benefit from all this rules refreshing!
Cheers

For the list, Marcus used his anti-plague and one flask of oil and Mawj has his alchemist's fire.
We seem to have a surplus of magic armour for Gwen. Did she take the chainmail or is she concerned about weight?
Other takers for the amulet of natural armour? Its nice for everyone.
Does Chi want to keep the ring? Seems like a good fit for any of the scouts/skirmishers to me.
