So I bought Inner Sea Intrigue to see what the enchanting courtesan looked like, and I was amused to discover that the book has a section on schemers in the Inner Sea region that includes our old friend from Freehold, Tabansi. Apparently, he's rumored to be a leader of anti-colonial movements in the area? Would've never guessed that from when we were in Freehold.

I assume every NPC is higher level than us. It saves time.
Mind you if one accepts that as true, and observes that it is the lower level PC's who actually do things then it becomes logical to assume that NOT doing stuff earns more XP.
I say we troop back to Freehold, put our collective feet up and let the XP roll in. ;7)

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

This is an odd assumption. The higher level you get in my campaigns the more rarely you will encounter anyone close to your level.
HD, on the other hand...
I would have to check my notes to be sure but General Morvius was a renowned warrior and is one of the highest level fighters in the country; at a total of 5 levels. Add your stat arrays to the mix and I think a fight between him and Qhude would basically come down to the dice at this point.

Joana |

If everyone can forgive my ridiculously long hiatus, I think post-wedding, post-promotion I can afford to pick this up again. I am truly sad we will be without Kieran but I don't have the heart to ask Castor to give me a third chance.
Color me still skeptical ... but you know I'm still around.
The loss of Kieran is going to be a problem storywise for Tebati, as well as mechanicswise for all of us in a trap- and puzzle-filled pyramid without a rogue.

Qhude |

Qhude currently lapses in and out of a fugue state depending on whether I'm in my 2 weeks onshore or 2 weeks in purgatory offshore on the platform with near zero internets.
But whilst here I'd be interested to continue if we can get it back up - though it would be difficult to deal with the void of Kieran from a plot and play perspective.

I can accept odd.
In my POV it is a way not to underestimate the opposition. If you go in to a conflict assuming you are the underdog and that the other side has capabilities you do not know about then you are a bit less likely to be caught entirely flatfooted when they release the Kraken or start dumping Rage addled super-apes into your cooking tent. Like you do.
If it turns out you can just roll over the baddies via raw numbers and badassery then that is all to the good. But raw power is better, in my odd view, as a backstop when the clever plan falls apart rather than as an opening gambit.
But then I do tend to overthink things.

Jakob Mulle |

I will miss Kieran. But I can see how it could work.
My first preference is for him to stay of course but I can see his looming horrible death as motivation for our lady of driftwood to start exploring the darker, more aggressive, options open to a angry cleric of a deity unencumbered by conventional morality.
But that is just my toss from the peanut gallery. Ignore as needed.

Ansha Saeralyan |

Well, I'm a few days late but both Ansha and Tebati turned a year older on March Pharast 1.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Hello all. My sincere apologies for ghosting. I just didn't want to give false promises when I wasn't quite in position to return.
I am hoping, that once I find where I backed up my MapTools files from my old PC, to try to resurrect this in the next week.
I am now 100% in the right place to have both time and positive headspace to continue this game, if we still have willing players. This is very much my own storyline and if the majority of current players have simply waited too long or no longer have any faith in my reliability, I will retire the game to the depths once more - but i'll be once more active on these forums either way.

Ansha Saeralyan |

Pff, that bum came back to the boards and didn't rejoin our merry troupe on Bloodmarch Hill?!

Typing up a massive recap post which will either include or be followed up with a current situation section so you have some guidance on what was explored, found at this level etc.
Wanted to put some money where my mouth is and show come front-end re-commitment.
I have also managed to find/recover all my old MapTools files. Luckily a lot of information was stored there, because for some reason my backups of many of my word documents for this campaign are corrupted and unrecoverable. But, am excited to resume!

F. Castor |

Hello all!
I know I exited the game some time ago but DM AK thought to send me a PM as well about the campaign resuming. I readily admit this was one of the best games I have been in in all my years here on these forums.
So, I would be rather interested in returning as well. I have to say though that between my current working conditions (private practice) and family stuff (happily married with a somewhat newly acquired progeny of the female persuasion), there will be times that my posting will be... spotty.
Also, I kinda sorta need to find where I have put Kieran's stats and all. Which brings me to a question actually:
With all the stuff that has been published since the game was put on hiatus, is the rebuilding of characters allowed?

![]() |

Ahhh great news, thank you Castor. If I can reach PoorWanderingOne, we have bingo!
Posting will be spotty for a while until we build momentum anyway.
Am already aware you re-purposed Kieran's profile so I had some thoughts on potential need for rebuild. The short answer is Yes, you have beaten me to the punch but I was going to suggest a chance for player rebuilds if desired as it has been a few years. Provided it doesn't radically change a character its all good.
However, my cunning plan to use WayBackMachine to get to the old stat block was foiled as it sadly, never managed to crawl Paizo's site to have an archive of it!
Edit: Found your submission stats at least.
Chaotic Good Half-elf Rogue 1
Character Build: Fighter (Free Hand Fighter) / Rogue (Swashbuckler) / Duelist
Campaign Background: Crown's End Smuggler
Array: 15, 14, 14, 13, 13, 12
Str 14, Dex 17, Con 13, Int 14, Wis 12, Cha 13
Alternate Racial Trait: Ancestral Arms - Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Aldori dueling sword)
Favored Classes: Fighter, Rogue (+1 skill point/level)
Trait: Reactionary
Skills: Acrobatics, Bluff, Climb, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Knowledge (Local), Perception, Perform (Dance), Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, Stealth
Feats: Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Aldori dueling sword), Weapon Finesse
In terms of wealth-by-level, Akirra do you remember the budget I gave you or could you deduce it from the value of your equipment? All I remember for Kieran was a fancy adamantine blade.

On that note, will certain things published in the past be opened up for us? I'm thinking specifically of Ultimate Intrigue and Inner Sea Intrigue (this PFS character is probably what I'll be building the Saga's Ansha toward, especially the prestige class, if allowed), but as I recall, Ultimate Combat and Ultimate Magic were no-go's in the past too.
Also, regarding wealth, you have the following listed on the Campaign Info tab, AK:
WBL-
Current- Starting wealth + 2,000GP.
Level 2- 2,000GP (achieved)
+ 350GP each for total of 2,100.
Level 3- 6,000GP (difference x 6= 24,000GP)
Level 4- 12,000GP (difference x 6= 36,000GP)
Level 5- 21,000GP
Level 6- 32,000GP
Level 7- 47,000GP
Level 8- 66,000GP
Level 9- 92,000GP
Level 10- 124,000GP
Level 11- 164,000GP
Level 12- 216,000GP
Level 13- 280,000GP
Level 14- 370,000GP
Level 15- 480,000GP
Level 16- 630,000GP
Level 17- 820,000GP
Level 18- 1,060,000GP
Level 19- 1,370,000GP
Level 20- 1,760,000GP

Am inclined (for this game) to relax some of my usual restrictions. Qhude might be inclined to rebuild as a Brawler for example. I will provide clarity and update the campaign notes once I have time to consider.
Yes, I found my old WBL table but I cannot recall if you achieved the approximate net worth I am targeting for level 4 yet.

Ansha |

I don't think we have. I'm probably a bad one to try calculating WBL from, since some of mine goes into scribing spells and using scrolls, but between the potions I have and the wondrous items I have, I'm at around 9500gp (and Ansha started off with 500gp and a masterwork dagger for her background trait).

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Having been away from PF for a time, I am totally unfamiliar with Unchained and how it interacts with normal classes. Swashbuckler- definitely no problem. Give me a day or two to re-familiarise myself with rules such as Unchained, I only know it from the PF computer game.
By the way, if anyone needs to reach me or has brief questions etc. I suggest WhatsApp for speed and convenience. Forum is also fine of course.

Unchained has several new rules and modifications, though they are mostly if not entirely optional. Even so, some of them have proven quite popular, such as the Unchained variants of the Barbarian, Monk, Rogue and Summoner classes and the Background Skills ruleset.
For your convenience, if you want to see the Unchained classes alongside their original counterparts, the Archives of Nethys site is a good place to visit. It is also Paizo's official Reference Document nowadays.

Hmm. You had 2,000 pieces of gold to equip yourself with followed by an additional 9,005 pieces for your shares of the scepter. I think you earnt an additional 350 gold pieces each at the Macini ranch. Should be close to 12,000 although as you said, Ansha not a great baseline.

F. Castor |

I seem to have found Kieran's character sheet. Regarding his possessions, he seems to have the following at level 4:
Aldori dueling sword, alchemical silver dagger (in wrist sheath), cold iron dagger (in
wrist sheath), dagger, light mace
Armor: +1 mithral shirt
Tools and Skill Kits: Masterwork thieves' tools (in
cat burglar's boots)
Special Substances and Items: Vial of antiplague x3, vial of antitoxin x3
Mundane Gear: Bedroll, belt pouch x2, caltrops, flint and steel, masterwork backpack,
pickpocket's outfit, silk rope (50 ft.), torch x2, trail rations (4 days), waterskin, wrist sheath x2
Magical Gear: Cat burglar's boots
Potions: Potion of cure light wounds x3
Scrolls: None
Money and Treasure: 2105 gold pieces, 3 silver pieces, 7 copper pieces

Nice one, that'll help.
Was scrolling through discussion thread as well as reading the whole IC last few days for the recap. I noticed that PoorWanderingOne did add me on LinkedIn a few years back! So I thought i'd use this to track him down and get a message, after all the PM system here doesn't flag an e-mail so until he is next inclined to check we are a little stuck.
Cue half an hour scratching my head trying to remember or get at my login details before it finally hit me - I deactivated my LinkedIn 2 years ago. Doh!

Am on post 3800 now, so almost there.
Just a OOC note- you were always intended to find an Azlant survivor on this level. I was a younger man back in 2011 and the idea seemed cool and unique to me at the time :P.
So I tried to kill two birds with one stoen with Okoya's introduction. Apologies that it was a bit clumsy, I did use RP to try and "balance" the Azlant but I accept that it was a poor decision.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

IC recap post is up. Wanted to finish tonight, may have some small details wrong and have missed some things, but I think it is generally a fairly detailed summary of the story so far.
Next on my list is character re-build info, but I think I will level you to 5 before a re-build is offered so please hold fire on rebuilds until then.
