Does anyone know offhand where to find the rule about how to reverse-engineer racial bonuses and penalties to ability scores from a bestiary statblock? Like, the garden-variety drow has stats of Str 11, Dex 15, Con 10, Int 10, Wis 9, Cha 10, and the drow racial adjustments are +2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, –2 Constitution?

I don't think I have Savage Species.
I was thinking it was something like you were supposed to presume the basic array for NPCs and work it out from there. It works for drow, but it can't make it fit with other statblocks.
EDIT: Or maybe it just doesn't work out as nice and even as it does for races more "fit" for PCs.

To determine any creature’s racial ability adjustments, subtract 10 from any even-numbered ability score and subtract 11 from any odd-numbered score. (Exceptions are noted in the Combat section of a creature’s descriptive text.)
From the Monsters (Intro-A) document. I'm assuming PFRPG kept this, but who knows.

Unless otherwise indicated, a creature's ability scores represent the baseline of its racial modifiers applied to scores of 10 or 11.
That's from the Bestiary's Monster Introduction section on PRD under "ability scores." So yeah, they kept it the same.

I also just found the Pathfinder wording, in the Bestiary intro:
Ability Scores: The creature's ability scores are listed here. Unless otherwise indicated, a creature's ability scores represent the baseline of its racial modifiers applied to scores of 10 or 11. Creatures with NPC class levels have stats in the standard array (13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8), while creatures with character class levels have the elite array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8); in both cases, the creature's ability score modifiers are listed at the end of its description.
So that's why it works out from the basic array for drow: he's a warrior.
Never thought of checking HeroLab.

If anyone is interested, I'm going to try something new to give myself a kick up the butt to get some of the disparate ideas flowing through my head onto electronic paper here.
Feel free to ignore, read, laugh, make fun, make suggestions, make hand-puppets, etc as you see fit :)

The merino and steer are my favourites... but the guys really need to get a triceratops or a pachycephalosaurus...

"Ansha deduced the location of the six magical auras within the room. Two Moderate strength Evocation auras, one in each of the water tanks. Two Moderate auras of Divination, again, with one in each tank. And finally, Ansha detected a Strong divination aura which seemed to emanate from the water in the large tub itself."
I'm terrible at math...but I'm pretty sure that's only five.

Cut me some slack i'm out of practice with this whole DMing shenanigan. Either that or i've tipped my hand that there is an illusionary aura in there somewhere :P.
Detect Magic Changes-1. You must make a will save against an illusions DC+2 to realise it is an illusion and have its magical aura register while using Detect Magic. The increase in DC is to represent that your not really interacting with it in any sensory way (close inspection, using hands/hearing) as well as balancing a cantrip against higher level spells. This will save will be made by me in secret.

You, as in the Order of Arioch, of which Akirra is a representative, rather than them, as in the fortresses, which are almost certainly looted ruins, if still standing.
Hundreds of invisible magic ziggurats going unnoticed in a populated continent, I'm not buying.

Aha! I stand corrected. I am ruling the Jakob misheard or just wasn't paying that much attention.
Joana wrote:Me too. But you have all the pieces to put that puzzle together. Logic would dictate that Earthfall destroyed many, if not all of them.

This must be why the continent is so undeveloped! People keep walking into magic invisible mind-fogging ziggurats and can't get any work done!
| Ansha |
Which is why she told Akirra they're no longer standing. It's Ansha and Jakob who think they may still be out there. :P
There aren't hundreds out there, but there are still a few...and who's to say that one or two of them isn't still inhabited by sentient beings connected to the order? Like a lich....

So I have been thinking about massive destruction and violent psychopaths but apart from holidays with the family I was also thinking about jumping the shield and running a PbP here.
I have always wanted to give Savage Worlds Necessary Evil* a go. I don't have a recruitment thread up yet, I am waiting on an off-board friend who will likely be playing to finish vetting the announcement post for sanity.
Strike anyone as interesting?
*Elevator pitch: Modern age aliens invade Stan Lee's four-color Manhattan. Heroes die B-list villains, the players, are left to deal with an occupied earth.

Lingering behind, Ansha uses the levers to replicate what she heard Akirra do until the map reflects what seems to be pre-Earthfall Sargava. She then reaches out and touches the point of light nearest where modern-day Eleder is (however far away that actually is).
I'm kind of assuming that there is still some way in which we can interact with this device that will produce results, but if not, we can move on to the next room.

My medical residency's board certification exam is over (I passed, in case you were wondering) so I will be returning to active duty soon enough. As soon as I have rested and cleared my head and also caught up with what has happened in the game so far. Thank you for your patience and understanding. :-)

Yay! Congratulations!
As for catching up on this game, it won't be easy. I think we opened a door. ;P

It doesn't actually say that on the plaque. Those are Akirra's memories you are reading. :P
You're the one who put it in the spoiler for 'anyone able to read the plaque and does so' that "Kor 'apparently fell to a horde of Girallons led by several High Girallons; killing over a hundred with a summoned army of gigantic apes." As in, Kor summoned an army of apes. ;P
