Greycastle |
Raiden drops to the floor asleep. The ghost has not left his body apparently. Anyone else want to take an action?
Ravvek the Avenger |
Ravvek pulls a holy symbol that looks like a unicorn's head fashioned from twigs and bark. He begins a litany, Holy mother of the hunt, abjure this ghost and cloak his fury in the fear of your holy might...
Channel Divinity - Abjure Enemy (Wisdom Save DC 12) - As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a prayer of denunciation, using your Channel Divinity. Choose one creature within 60 feet of you that you can see. That creature must make a Wisdom saving throw, unless it is immune to being frightened. Fiends and undead have disadvantage on this saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is frightened for 1 minute or until it takes any damage. While frightened, the creature’s speed is 0, and it can’t benefit from any bonus to its speed. On a successful save, the creature’s speed is halved for 1 minute or until the creature takes any damage.
I know that mechanically this will have no effect, but I am hoping that if it fails its save I can Intimidate it into leaving Raiden's body...
Greycastle |
Unfortuneately you cannot see your target to abjure them. The wording of your particular channel divinity prevents this from activating. So... Ravvek presents his holy symbol and prepares to declare the creature an enemy of his faith when he remembers that he must ACTUALLy see the target of his abjuration. this does not consume your action Ravvek since you didn’t actually use the ability.
Scramsax |
Did we see any change in Raiden after he was possessed? Like glowing red eyes of doom etc? If there was some cue like that Scram would relieve him of his weapons and perhaps bind him while there is a chance.
Ravvek the Avenger |
I got nothing then.
Ravvek shrugs and moves close to Raiden, readies an action to strike at the ghost as soon as it appears...
Sashah |
Sashah's face takes on an expression of moderate surprise, "I admit, I vas not sure zat vould work."
Greycastle |
It was fairly obvious what happened. You know that Raiden was possessed right befor he fell asleep otherwise I don’t think Sashah would have put him to sleep.
You’re pretty sure certain divine magic could help with this dilemma but if the target is asleep there will not be much of a way to know if it is successful.
Sashah |
Dwarven "Stop with silliness dwarf. Come out and we can talk," Sashah says with exasperation while quickly clutching his holy symbol.
casting Sanctuary on self :)

I can help, but it will take some time for me to pray... Ravvek suggests, looking hopeful for an alternative.
Greycastle |
Anton hears s rough chuckle as the Deuregar crouching by the other doorway noticed his wardrobe change. She seems quite entertained watching the group struggle, but she stands and walks over. ”We had similar problem. Our god speaker was able to make ghost back to ghost. No have god speaker?”
Sashah, with that roll being so high you know that the ghost may be forced out if it is turned. You also believe the ghost may be asleep as well as Raiden. Your words go unheard. I just looked at your C sheet and notice you Channel does not list Turn Undead. All clerics can do it as a base line when they receive the power. Your domain only adds another option for channeling.
Uriah Lewis |
Uriah looks at Raiden's snoring form and whispers to Scramsax
If ever there were a time to loot this haunted place... and he edges towards the altar, and begins surreptitiously looking for valuables.
Greycastle |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Raiden grumbles in his sleep in dwarven
Myastan Zayless |
"Godspeaker?" Zayless looks at Sashah as if to ask, "any ideas."
Sashah |
"Vell, da I could shun ghost from body. But, it vould be avake again," Sashah says thoughtfully while rubbing his beard. He then gets a little excited, "I not know spell vould affect ghost vile it inhabit person, so interesting no?"
Ravvek the Avenger |
Indeed, Ravvek responds without mirth, Shall we test your theory?
Sashah |
"It not theory, it fact. I could shun ghost. But, zough I often disagree vith Scram, now might be good time to search room for relics. Ve have several seconds."
Myastan Zayless |
"I know I'll tell them. Zayless barks at the air. "Do your work Sashah we will give it everything we got when it appears."
Scramsax |
At Uriahs suggestion Scram's face alights with the sudden realization: the bard is right. Righter than right. Raiden's weapons cradled in his arms he hurriedly joins the treasure hunt, turning over various urns and opening small coffers here and there...
Investigation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

...his dry mouth smacks loudly "*tk tk* ...why do I taste metal? Is that...gold?"
Sashah |
Sashah strokes his beard some more while mumbling to himself, "Hmm...if I can shun ghost...zhen it could hypothetically leave...vould anger it more...could bind...vould anger it more...hmm..."
"I have come to conclusion!" Sashah declares with a finger raised. "Ve will wait for to vake up. It possible ghost might leave on own. I vill be next to ghost when it rises. Prepare for it to come out." At this Sashah produces his mobile scribing once more and begins scrawling.
Ravvek the Avenger |
Ravvek nods and watches Raiden's sleeping form, How long will he be out?
Myastan Zayless |
"So when it comes out blast it? Right?"
Greycastle |
Uriah’s carefull searching does not produce much of anything valuable. This seemed to be some sort of common room. Perhaps a bathing area with the pool in the center.
Sashah moves into place knowing the duration of his spell is almost over. Raiden’s eyes begin to flutter and he rolls over groggily. Then his eyes open wide with anger. Sashah begins the divine incantations he scribed in his book. Realizing he doesn’t have any weapons, Raiden looks at the Cleric above him with contempt and reaches to bite Sashah’s leg.
WIS disadv: 1d20 ⇒ 141d20 ⇒ 12
White light with yellow energy streaks surround Raiden and he begins to convulse. He flops onto his back and you all prepare yourselves as the ghost reappears above Raiden’s body. Cursing in dwarven is seems to recoil at Sashah’s divine magic. As he does so, everyone’s readied actions would go off.
let em have it boys! Et femme aussi
Ravvek the Avenger |
+1 rapier: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
holy crit, Batman! Plus hunter's mark: 2d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 + (5, 1) = 17
Greycastle |
Raiden rolls out of the way as he regains his senses and Ravvek steps forward plunging his magical rapier into the apparition. The ghost turns and curses Ravvek
Combat over, this room is clear.
Ravvek the Avenger |
Ravvek says a short prayer, May he find peace at Moradin's side...
The not-so-young-anymore paladin looks at the others, I don't feel so good...
Raiden Bartok |
Raiden cocks an eyebrow at Sashah, Well I was helping you could tell me. I remember that grouchy dwarven ghost carrying on about being invaded, and then I felt a sort of whoosh, a coldness, and then I was dreaming. My soul must've, I don't know, fallen asleep or something.
He still looks worriedly around at those who aged, sort of patting his own face wondering if the same thing happened.
He'll collect his weapons now, too.
Ravvek the Avenger |
Ravvek looks at Raiden confused for a bit, then noticing the aging, levels his rapier's blade to look at his reflection as best as he can... Huh... that's interesting...
He leans up against a wall, then slides down into a seated position, Can we rest?
Greycastle |
As some of the party comes to the realization that roughly a decade has weathered thier body in just a few minutes please note this on your character. 10 years is no small amount unless you’re a long lived race. the Deuregar chuckles and shakes her head. ”You were warned. We not know what is behind these rooms as we did not press. There is another door that we find, but same ghost found us there.“ with that warning she bows and excuses herself back to where she came from.
Reminder of those who were aged.
Anton, Ravvek, Zayless, and Uriah
As for moving forward there are two doors leading out of this room. One to the east and another to the west out of this room. I will straighten the map out later tonight. Feel free to RP a little but let me know which way you guys want to head out?
Ravvek the Avenger |
Ravvek shakes his head and looks at Sashah, Will it return? Some restless spirits return even after being destroyed, if the stories are to be believed...
Greycastle |
Raiden Bartok |
So...what is our purpose, other than XP and treasure hunting, for mucking around down here? Like are we dedicated to clearing this place of ghosts and baddies, and if so doesn't that make it easier for other folks to come in and steal things?
Ravvek the Avenger |
We were going to clear it out and invite the Durgeddin clan back to their home. At least that was my understanding.
Ravvek the Avenger |
Ravvek struggles to stand, his body popping and creaking as he does. This is an unfamiliar feeling, and he cocks his head at this entirely unpleasant experience, then shakes it off, I suppose that would be wise, before we take a rest.
EDIT: I think after the undead in the previous room, and the ghost here, Ravvek will use his Divine Sense as we enter the West room...
Sashah |
Sashah rubs his beard, responding ponderously, "It possible zhat apparition could return. It will not do so for some time. But, if reason for ghost creation still exist it may remanifest."
