The son of a wandering monk from Kara-Tur and a Turami woman from Westgate, Anton and his three sisters were raised on a rundown farm. Thanks to his mixed ancestry, Anton had few friends and suffered cruel torment from the local children.
His father trained him the ways of eastern combat and philosophy, and his mother taught him the teachings of Ilmater. When he came of age, Anton decided to join the priesthood. Because of his martial skill, the high priests encouraged him to become a member of the faith militant, but Anton instead opted for a simpler life attending to the needs of a small temple in Westgate.
In time, Anton fell in love with a woman in the congregation, a member of the city watch named Karleen, and they planned to marry. The fates would have nothing of it. Days before the wedding Anton was accused of burglary by the watch. There were witnesses with vague desciptions and testimony from neigbors and colleagues who had never been comfortable with a half-Shou Half-Turami priest; it was only the protests of Karleen that gave the magistrate pause. But when a watchman named Buras produced stolen goods supposedly found in Antons' quarters, even his bride-to-be began to doubt him. One of the victims of his supposed crimes was a noble, so Anton was sentenced to twenty years of hard labor.
Ever respectful of the law, and certain Ilmater would not abandon him, Anton endured his undeserved punishment for nearly a decade. But when he got word from one of his sisters that Buras and Karleen had married, Anton decided he'd had enough and escaped. Ever since, he has wandered the land, helping people where he could, honing his skills, and dreaming of a way to clear his name.
