First off, if its your first time in this thread, Welcome aboard.
Please make a in character test post using the preferred posting template including the quick stat spoiler for your character. Make sure the quick stats include your current speed and encumbrance level. The template example can be found by Clicking Here!
Make the test post in this thread.

DM Asmodeus |

Next, go over your character, make any final changes and when you are 110% that the character is ready to go without any more changes then let me know so I can have a final look at him/her.
Once you have done this then I will know that you are ready to begin play. It also will allow me to go through your final sheet closely and get your information added to my campaign tracker and give me a chance to jot down a bunch of notes from your final background etc.
Once everyone is done with this then the game thread will be opened and you will be able to begin posting. No character starts having been in Red Larch for anytime. You all have just arrived for whatever reason.
It is also advised that you look over any Player Handouts that are already available in the Campaign Tab and get up to date on Red Larch and the Dessarin Valley.

DM Asmodeus |

Remember the following key points:
1. Posting to in-game threads is to be at a minimum of once per day, Monday through Friday. Weekends are optional. Please let the group know in advance if you will be absent for any length of time.
2. This is a sandbox adventure. This means that it is very possible for your characters to end up in a area that is stronger than their current level and/or possible that you run into a situation where retreating is the best option. Much like the real world you will have to decide as a group on obstacles to tackle and which ones to leave for a later date. It is also based highly on investigation and putting clues together to figure out pieces of the larger puzzle. Use your wits and stay in character. Do not try to use out of character knowledge to your advantage.
3. I like to use the passive system a lot for most things. It is basically like taking 10 plus your modifier. This is always assumed if no dice roll is provided. If you simply say I am going to search the desk then I will assume a passive investigation check is being used. If you supply a dice roll then I will use that. Remember perception is used for general sight, sound and touch. Investigation is used for exacts like searching a body or desk, fallen tree etc. However if you are in combat situation then checks must be rolled.
4. When trying to determine knowledge about an object or creature just give me a straight d20 knowledge roll and I will apply all knowledge's you have into that one roll. That way you are not guessing which one to use. But please explain what you are trying to determine about the item or area. If no roll is given then I will use a passive knowledge score to determine what you know. Please flavor knowledge checks in character. Example: William is flipping through the book and trying to use his knowledge to figure out its content and if it magical in nature or its value. That way I know you are calling for a knowledge check without breaking the flow of the game.
5. Keep all OOC text behind spoiler tags at the bottom of your post. Keep all Mechanics such as dice rolls etc. behind Mechanic spoiler tags. The reason is I would like the game play thread/s to read like a story without confusing the reader with mechanics and out of character stuff. Thus it is behind a spoiler tag.
I look forward to getting started.

Quick stats can be used to track anything you like, spell slots, limited abilities, ammunition, expendables or anything else. You want to make sure you include anything that you want to make sure that I am aware of at a quick glance. That way I don't have to open your alias all the time to process game post.

"What is it with you?", the small half-elven woman turns around to the mule she has been trying to lead down the road, as it stops dead, yet again, for no reason in particular yanking back her hand holding the bridle.
She takes a step closer to the animal, gently placing a hand on its muzzle and whispers with a soft tone: "Hey, it's just a little further, the town is right over there, there you can stand around like an idiot all day, I promise."
The mule promptly begins walking again pushing the little half-elf forward with its head who stumbles out of the way with a satisfied grin.

Hi all,
Before I finalize my character I would appreciate it if all of you would chime in if you think there is a role in the party that I can help fill and the party desperately needs. I have a pretty versital build and can change things up if needed by choosing different spells or feats. Right now these are the "rolls" I see him filling:
Primary: rogue (traps, locks, and sneak), face, and caster (buffer).
Secondary: healer, melee, skill monkey (as I increase in level).
I plan on going the valor bard route as I level, but am willing to listen to ideas.
As far as I a tell we have a pretty well balanced party and look forward to playing with you all.
On a personal note I am in my mid-forties married, have 2 boys ages 12 & 8, and live in Indiana (United States) which is on eastern time (GMT-5 I think). If you have any questions about me or Cade let me know and once again I look forward to playing with you all.

Narnel continues to place one foot in front of the other, as he has done for the past several days since his departure from the monastery in Westwood. He has plodded along, alone, as he has spent most of the last several years. It has given Narnel time to further contemplate the mysteries that have drawn him out amongst society. Red Larch should be just over the next rise.
I must remember that being among others will be different. I do not want to make anyone uncomfortable. Just be yourself, but more talkative, and everything should work out just fine...

Keaton Larroquette |

On the road to Red Larch, trailing a step behind a wagon full of basic farmer wares and crop is a strange sight, a young man floating. He is facing backwards to the direction the wagon is going, sitting crossed legs, reading a book on his lap, de-shelling roasted peanuts to eat and discarding the shells on the trail. He is a very tan youthful looking man with his long dark hair pulled back, wearing a mis-mashed collection of clothing from many different countries. After some time he reads from that book aloud is a strange language and makes some odd gestures. When he is done with his ten minute outburst of strange words and spasm like finger movements, he "stands up" still floating, grasping a lead of rope attached to the wagon, and steps over into the air before sitting back down cross legs.
He waves at people he passes on the road adding in a friendly Gooday.
When the wagon arrives in Red Larch he thanks the old farmer and gives him the silver bit they discussed. The farmer, very thankfully, also gives the young man an armful of carrots and thanks him for the coin.
Chewing on carrots and exploring around the town Keaton first looks for a tavern or inn, preferably a inn with a tavern.

Quick question: Tenser's floating disk has a range of 30 feet, I have summoned a hawk familiar, could the familiar cast the spell and be able to have the disk follow it around? The book says spells with range of touch. The visual of him darting down the road trailing a hawk is pretty cool. I see it as on the ship he would use it like a life preserver, man falls overboard, Keaton sends the hawk out to retrieve him with a floating disk. Just curious, willing to do some sort of spell research to alter the range to touch.
Good call Narnel on the OCC get to know you, here is mine. 33 years old, married, no kids, live in Boston (Bawstun if you are local) Mass, been gaming 15 years or so.
As for the arcane tradition I think I will be going conjuration. Keaton is lazy and being able to summon things in to do his work is pretty much his deal.

DM Asmodeus |

Keaton,
The question about the disk I think is a wonderful idea, and would work just like you say. However since you have a hawk you need to keep in mind that the disk can not do a elevation change with the hawk of more than 10 feet. So the hawk would have to pretty much stay within 10 feet of the ground. Also it is a force disk so it is technically invisible.
QUOTE FROM SPELL DESCRIPTION
It can move across uneven terrain, up or down stairs, slopes and the like, but it can’t cross an elevation change of 10 feet or more. For example, the disk can’t move across a 10-foot-deep pit, nor could it leave such a pit if it was created at the bottom.
With the above being said. I am not above spell research to bend the rules of the spell. Like make the disk visible to look like X or to have the disk be able to do higher elevation changes, etc.
However you will have to do this in game, "if" you can find a wizard or "library" that can help you with knowledge of such things. Also the knowledge may become easier to understand as you level.
All things are possible. (Within reason)

Molok Granite Fist |

Molok trudges down the dusty track, the morning sun shining and warming his body. In the distance he can see a clutter of buildings that announces his arrival at another village. The sun has climbed to near its zenith and he can spot other travelers just ahead of him on the road.
I wonder what this place will be like? Maybe there will be some work for me here...I do not have much money left and will need to find something to keep me through the winter!, he thinks to himself as the town grows closer and closer.
His long stride eventually closes the gap between him and the other travelers.
"Good morning...or should I say noon.", he says in the most friendly way he can. His voice sounds rusty even to him..dry and gravelly from long periods of disuse.

Have we all been traveling in the same caravan together, or do meet each other in Red Larch? Is this something you want us to work out in this forum?
You all are arriving with the same caravan, not necessarily having been in the same wagon, but you would recognize others having been part of the group.
I am ready for final check.

As for the rest of you, let me know when your you are 110% complete with your character and no further changes will be made so I can look it over and approve you to enter the game.
This is also the OOC thread so you don't have to post everything in character, just needed the one test post. Feel free to engage here without all the spoilers.

Cade Ravenhill |

From traveling in the same caravan you all would know Cade as he performed around the campfires at night and could often be heard passing the miles away playing his Lute or singing. When he wasn't singing or playing you could find him examining a couple pieces of parchment. He would tell you that he is a bard looking to gain his own tales. Molok he would have been very interested to hear any of your stories as he had never seen a Goliath before. Also, he probally would have talked the most with Keaton, based on his personality, and would have liked to find out if Keaton had ever heard of his fathers ship the Serenity. Regardless, at some point he promised to buy each of you a drink at the swinging sword Inn when you arrive at Red Larch. Also, Kade was in a wagon by himself the last three days of the trip

Character sheet is all set. Noticed I had too much gold, that is now corrected. Also got rid of the crossbow, not his style. Added an empty Scrollcase to readied items.
Good old Med-fa'. I was an Emt that worked for a company that covered 911 in Medford, let's just call it an interesting place...
Yankees! How dare you sir! This year the Celtics will crush your Yankees, just you wait till your Yankees come to Foxboro, Brady will get 'em! Yeah, I don't follow sports at all, so we will be good.
Keaton is not shy, at all, and most likely would of been talking to Molok the first night of camping. He too has not seen a, "whatever you are sir", and will try to start up friendly conversation. He will most likely ask many questions about Molok's tribe, about the mountains, and animals of his area. Keaton will ask just about everything except why Molok left or about it's/his/(her) past.
During the wagon ride Keaton will enjoy Cade's company and hopefully trade tales with him. He will accompany Cade's performances with his minor illusion spell, making a simple drum noise to accompany his playing.

anything to prevent it.
I haven't thought of anything specific because I don't know what could be appropriate for the campaign. I don't want to understate or blow the thing out of proportion. So I could use some pointers.
Other than that my profile is ready.

If you want to use real life references for fun then Serenity would have been a play, maybe in Neverwinter or Waterdeep that you caught once. etc. You have to make it fit into the world in order to use a reference about it. Really up to you.

Is there a way to attach the "Quick Stat" section to your character so it shows up after each post, or do you have to re-copy it every time?
Pardon me for the intrusion.
Anything you write in the Race, Classes/Levels and/or Gender parts of the character alias will appear under your name each time you post. Just like it says "Male Human" under my name. You can even spoiler it if you so choose.

Narnel Falerathon |

@Kenna: Read the Dark Omens in my Profile under the Other Race, Class.... It is possible that your visions could be tied somehow to that, with GM approval, of course.

Keaton Larroquette |

So everyone is fully aware. Princes of the Apocalypse is a true sandbox adventure. This means that it is very possible to end up in a area or run across a creature that is well above your current level. Pick and choose your battles, make sure you have all the info you need and take your time.
So no training wheels, good to know.
