I so hope it is Old Man Williams in a mask and a lighting effect; "and I would of gotten away with it too if it weren't for those meddling kids and their mule!"
Ember Draymon |
And their mule!!! XD LOL
DM Asmodeus, could I roll a knowledge religion for Ember to recall something about this kind of spirit/ghost?
Narnel Falerathon |
Does it really matter? We will likely have to fight it, regardless of its origin. It does not appear to be inclined to simply let us pass.
Vaneros Anteri |
We only need to fight it, if we want to get through the door. At the moment we don't really need to. We can always withdraw and maybe first figure out some way to release the ghost (if it is one). Just because there is a door, you don't need to step through it. And just because some girl told us there is a ghost, we don't need to solve its mistery.
Not saying we shouldn't investigate this, but we don't HAVE to.
Narnel Falerathon |
That is why I said "likely". I am not sure about the rest of you, but we are adventurers. Aren't we supposed to be "adventuring"? We do not HAVE to do anything, but then again, it would not be much of a game if we took that approach.
Vaneros Anteri |
Don't get me wrong, I see your point. We should all be interested in living through and telling a good story. And if we walk away from everything, that's not going to happen.
But each of our characters came here for some reason. Mine being finding an old friend and investigating his disappearence. With so many strange things going on, this is a good lead and I'll follow it.
But I won't just follow any lead and fight anything we encounter 'cause it's there and I'm an adventurer. If it puts me in danger and I don't have a good reason to confront it, I will withdraw.
By the way: I REALLY want to know what is behind that door, but Vaneros really doesn't want to fight to the death over it with some ghost (or mage???).
Keaton Larroquette |
Agree with Vaneros. Just because there is a red button that says "push me" does not always mean you should.
Also, we can back off and question that goblin.
Keaton Larroquette |
Just options. If it is really a ghost I doubt he will be leaving any time soon.
I like not always taking the murder hobo route.
Or we can leave, and have someone sneak back in, maybe 10 mins later to see if the ghost just stands in silent sentry, or if he takes a bio break we can play the old man Williams card and Scooby-doo his ass.
Ember Draymon |
While I definetely agree that not every challenge requires combat, Ember has some religious beliefs about undead that effect her decision here...
DM Asmodeus |
Specter attack on incapacitated goblin.
Life Drain: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Advantage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Automatic critical on incapacitated target.
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5) = 13 Necrotic Damage.
Critical Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2) = 9 Necrotic damage.
Goblin Constitution Save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
Critical Percentile: 1d100 ⇒ 37
Ember Draymon |
I was expecting more people to attack the spectre. I guess everyone took "few weapons are very effective against it" to mean weapons won't work at all?
I hope I don't cause a party member death by attacking the spectre. Sorry everyone, I gave it a lot of thought and decided it was what Ember would do.
DM Asmodeus |
Specter Will Save Versus Cade's Vicious Mockery
Will Save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Specter attack on Ember with Disadvantage.
Life Drain: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Disadvantage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2) = 11 Necrotic.
Ember Con Save versus Life Drain
Con Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Vaneros Anteri |
AThat's bad. Bad bad bad bad bad... Vaneros thinks, while trying not to panic. He focuses his will and directs another bolt of energy into his hand.
"Leave her!" He shouts, his eyes again glowing with in inner fire. He presses past Kenna who he thinks doesn't look to be up for a fight. The mage extends his hand towards the spectre, releasing the force gathered in it.
Eldritch Blast: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25, Possibly Advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21, Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5, Critical (I think that's possible in 5e): 1d10 ⇒ 3
Reminder: Spell Sniper (the range on ranged attack spells is doubled and ranged spell attacks ignore half and three-quarters cover)
Move to L8, fire Eldritch Blast. Not wise, but he won't stand by idly while some creature sucks the life out of Ember.

Whoops, wrong thread Vaneros :/
@Ember
I did not burn your warding flare ability since the creature already had disadvantage from the Vicious Mockery. So don't mark it as used.
Will do!
Kenna Icemane |
The botting was fine, I cannot really do much at the moment. I will however stay in this spot, in case I get an open lane toward Ember to heal her.

With my character's condition made it a little difficult for me to come up with useful ways to act especially with the two battles just now. I think once she's back up to health I will be more useful and active.
Vaneros Anteri |
Well, I did do 5 posts this week, but since I'm in germany, you counted one post as being on sunday ^^
The different timezones are sometimes a problem. Since we don't post at the same time, interaction might take a bit longer. I check the game early in the morning and then again in the afternoon, but sometimes in between nothing has happened ingame, so I don't have anything new to add.
I'll still try to up my posting rate.

Good luck! When I first read your post I thought you were saying they were going to drill your eye... Glad that's a typo.
I'm going on vacation this week. I should still be able to post though. As long as I get mobile reception.
