"Thanks Bela. I'm okay, I think. A little shaken still, but I'll be fine, I think. Are you okay?" Qina's hands still shook a little as the adrenaline wore off, but she tried hard to put on a brave face. "Thanks for having my back...or my front. Both I suppose. Uh, thanks...for the help."
Everyone gathers the gear and heads out in much the same marching order as before with Gad leading the way. The day continues to brighten, but the grip of winter is sure to be on its way. The sky remains clouded and the temperature is a bit colder than is regular for this time of year, but it is nothing your exercise and gear can't handle.
The sounds of nature continue unabated for your walk, and you can occasionally see squirrels, chipmunks, and other small mammals collecting food to be stored for the winter.
It is not more than an hour into your journey that the trees begin to thin, revealing a field of short, green grass that leads to the shores of a wide, calm lake reflecting the overcast sky above. A dense fog hangs over the center of the lake, obscuring the far side. Near the shore of the lake, a dark form lies next to the water.

Along the Journey Brezik makes sure to point out every squirrel, chipmunk, rabbit and other rodent that he sees. Each time the Paladin reacts excitedly the Dwarf chuckles. He also keeps the paladin with the party and jokes with him and the rest of his companions constantly even if many of his jokes he is the only one laughing at.
And then POP!!! went the WEASEL... DO YOU get it Allister?... the WEASEL WENT....
Mid-Joke Brezik grows silent sensing the change in the demeanor of his companions and an ominousness in the air. In a more sullen tone...
I hope that whatever that it is... it's no threat... and if it's a "who" that they are okay.
The form is a corpse. Knowledge (Local) and Heal skill checks will tell you more about it. It is bloated and partially decayed making the stench eye-watering. If it had been the heat of summer you're certain it would be even worse. Looking around the corpse you find the decayed remains of a rucksack. Most of the equipment is too rusted or rotted to be of use, but you do find a beautifully crafted short sword and a small jingling pouch inside. Mwk Shortsword and 87gp
"What do we do? Do we stay back or move up? Vivian? Will Gad be alright by himself?" Qina looked to the sky while her hand unconsciously went to her shoulder. She hadn't seen Crow in a while and it made her anxious. "Should we be quiet? I want to whistle for Crow but if you think I shouldn't, I won't."
The body, once turned over is covered with horrendous bite marks. From the size of them the beast that created these would likely be able to fit most of Qina in its mouth. You don't know where the creature that caused this is, but Gad has determined that the body is a few months old. Other scavengers have not been at the body because it seeps a bilious green poison from the wounds.

Disgusted and a bit fascinated, Gad'larr looks around the lake area then at Vivian and Bel.
"What kind of creature could have done this? Vivian you've lived here longer than I. Bel you know death.
Anything to add here? What about the others? I am afraid they might be too delicate for this...mess."
Gad will show the found sword to Vivian and if she does not identify it, will take it to Brezik to see if he could identify the maker and maybe the owner.

Qina call crow we need to know if he's seen anything in his scouting... even if your call to him brings something it's best to get that kind of thing settled sooner rather than later.
When Gad brings the sword back to the group Brezik examines it trying to see if he can find a makers mark and perhaps any clues that would tell of its origin.
Qina nods and whistles for Crow. She continues to scan the skies waiting for the raven to return. She grips her spear tight and tries not to pay too much attention to what the others are looking at.

Gad, Vivian, & Bel:
Vivian can tell from the style and cut of the clothing that this man was not from Kassen. In addition because of her training in the area she knows that these wounds are likely from a giant serpent that live in the lake.
Once the blade is brought back to Brezik he examines it with a critical and trained eye. The maker's marks have been nearly filed off, but their impression in the blade is still visible. This blade was made in the city of Tamran, capital of Nirmathas, and quite some distance from here.

So My question is according to the map... are we supposed to be here? Can we skirt the lake or do we have to cross it? Also Crow was kind enough to inform us of a camp to the east along the shoreline... Do we want to scout them out and see if they are friendly or just avoid them and get on with our mission.

With Brezik's help, Allister is continuously distracted by the various woodland animals. Each time he sees one he points and gives an excited "OOoooOOOhh!" There is some connection between the paladin and his Dwarf friend, a language that one unwittingly speaks and the other finds riotously funny even though he does not understand it. "A weasel goes POP, HAHAHAH. Hey, I wish I had some bubblegum!" Squirrels, weasels, forest dogs; Allister is having a wonderful day until they find the corpse by the lake shore.
Allister has seen and caused death throughout his life, but dead bodies never cease to make him uncomfortable. He has trouble fathoming what happens to a person when they die. Will my body look like that when I die? What will happen to me, will I be stuck or float away? I should ask Bel later, he would know.
"Can we pull him away from the water? This is not a good place for a dead man, nibbled by little fish." The corpse has stirred up confusing thoughts of mortality in his mind and he hates to see any person be forgotten. "We should check the camp site - warn them of the water snakes."

Gad closes his eyes for a moment in prayer over the man's cairn.
"Your earthly challenges are over my friend. May Irori guide your steps ever onward."
Stepping away from the grave he looks at the sky, smells the oncoming storm.
"Yes. We should move out again if we want to check out that camp before the rain hits. I will lead the way. Crow!...I'll follow you.
Can you keep pace with me and make sure I don't veer off target?"
Qina is rather reserved during the administering of funeral rights. She tries to pay attention, but her attention wanders. Qina was unused to death and dead bodies. It wasn't her first funeral. People had passed away in Kassen over the years since she was born, but the bodies had been cared for and attended to. Not left in the wild to rot. She began to wonder what would happen to herself, and to her friends. As the clouds rolled in overhead, she slowly focused on their surroundings. "Yeah, it's gonna rain soon."
Crow sat on Qina's shoulder watching the spectacle. He didn't understand any of it, but he could tell when Qina was sad. It didn't happen often, so he was perplexed as to why, but saved his questions for later. When Gad addressed him directly, he fluttered a little and appeared to nod his little head.
"Crow, help us get to the camp and you can have two big bread crumbs." The raven hopped around, spread his wings, and took off. "Of course, my dear. Anything for a snack."

Allister is much more comfortable now that the body has been cared for. He helps to carry large stones, though he accidentally drops some on the body harder than he should have. His friends' willingness to help increases his favor and trust in them.
"I know we are here for the Everflame, but I would rather fail because we did what is right."
He marches along under Vivian's command on their way to the camp. It is better to follow her orders than have to think of ideas on my own.
The trip to the campsite is over hardly after it begins. There is still a ring of stones around a fire pit and several tents stand, though they look musty and somewhat moth-eaten. There is not a soul around, though it does look like several animals have been here recently. All of these put together tells you that this campsite has not been used in months.

You continue on your way to the crypt, the day getting darker where there is supposed to be light. You are still able to see, but the predicted rain starts coming down, first as a fine mist, then as a steady drumbeat. Soon small puddles are forming in the hollows of the trees and divots of the trails you follow. It is cold and makes your skin feel clammy and unpleasant. All of your armored companions resemble iron pots under leaky roofs with all of the pinging noise they make from the rain.
The trail leads ever deeper into the Fangwood, through a twisting maze of trees and confusing ravines. As it tops a small rise, a broad valley spreads out before it, the opposite side of which looks like a writhing serpent. Yet between the two lies a steep hill sloping down into the valley. The rain has washed all of the dirt in the area to a slick muddy slurry making the ground slick and treacherous.
Your map marks the entrance to the Crypt at the bottom of this gorge (helpfully labeled Serpent Gorge in bright and sunny characters).
Getting down this slope is extremely dangerous and finding either end of the gorge will take days out of your time at least. To avoid sliding down the hill requires 3 DC 10 Acrobatics checks. Circumstance bonuses awarded for good ideas.

Brezik decided to take a classic careful approach, looking for a slightly easier spot to climb down then using his brute strength to slowly lower himself down, using trees and rocks as handholds.
Brezik finds a rockier outcrop not too far from where you first saw the gorge and is able to climb down though it takes a bit longer than Qina's method. There are several large trees that could be cut down and guided down the slope in such a way that it would help you climb down.
Without a scale on this map I've got absolutely no clue how far down the slope is. I will say that the worst consequences for failure are 2d6 damage and some Dex damage, so I can't imagine it being too far down.
Using Brezik's rocks will take DC 12 Climb checks instead of Acrobatics.
Using the tree and ropes will grant a +4 circumstance bonus to the Acrobatics checks.
Failure on Acrobatics requires Reflex save:

Hmm...Typical tree...AC...hp...This may take a while...Time to start at the beginning, work backwards from the end, and smudge the middle!
Vivian's first swing is powerful and starts a good notch that everyone is able to take advantage of. 10 minutes of hard work later the tree snaps and crashes into the gorge. Steam is rising from those that are heavily armored and you can feel a sweat despite the rain, which is starting to feel better. Thunder rumbles ominously above, but the tree is down and an easier path down is clear.

Lightbringer Naabi taught me better than to dull my blade for a game."Show me how it's done, Vivian." Once the tree is felled onto the muddy slope, Allister looks at it, then the muddy hill, then back to the tree. I don't like the looks of this.
He shuffles down the tree with his half-plate hanging from his backpack and his greatsword standing over his shoulder, mumbling under his breath "please don't fall, please don't fall, please don't fall..."
The first couple lengths are shaky but successful.
However, while transferring for the third time he slips before his rope is secured and plants his face in the mud then begins to slide. "GuuaaaaaAAAaaaaHHHhhhh," he screams as he slides faster and faster down the slope, scrambling to slow his descent.
Reflex Save:1d20 ⇒ 2
Instead, his feet catch a stone outcropping and he goes spinning head over heels like a tomahawk across the muddy plane, "GUUAAAAff...HuUUaah...OooOOOhh...nNGeeAAh!!" He crashes across a pile of rocks and finally comes to a stop in a thorn bed at the bottom of the gorge.
Welp, that couldn't have gone any worse... Don't hold back GM Fez, I earned every bit what's coming with those rolls!
I am going to run a Crypt of the Everflame game. I am looking for 4-6 players that are willing to play in this adventure. If you are new to pathfinder/play by post then this is the game for you but I will also take veteran players as well.
Character creation rules can be found in the spoiler below. To be considered I would like to see a full build of your character and a fleshed out background per the specification in the spoiler below. This module runs a lot better if everyone was local to Kassin so that will be a requirement.
I would like my players to be able to post once a day Monday-Thursday. I am available between 10 AM and 4 PM CST(GMT-6) Monday-Thursday. I will occasionally be able to post on Fridays between 12-5 but that really depends on whats going on and I WILL NOT post on the weekends. I understand a lot of people have jobs and won't be able to post when I can, that's fine as long as your making your 1/day post rate. Posting on the weekends is also fine just understand I will not be able to respond until Monday.
Character Creation:
Books: Anything put out by Paizo is fair game except anything with the Occult. If you want to use something from a non hardcover source please let me know.
Races:Core only please
HP: Max at first level
Skills: Background skills will be allowed
Stats: 25 point buy
Traits: You will get 2 traits
Classes: Anything from Core, APG, ACG, UM, UC, or Unchained is allowed
Background info:
-As for backgrounds, I'd like it to go as follows:
1) I'd like 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission. Including Lorrimor in one of those might not be a bad idea.
All that is to help you and me tell a compelling story not only you, but any who read our adventure, will enjoy. If this is asking too much, let me know.
-Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic. Anything from spiders to unexplained happenstance, but I'm sure you'll all come up with some awful stuff on your own. Cool?
Just to be clear, Occult Adventures related stuff is the only thing that you do not like? You do not have a problem with stuff from Ultimate Intrigue, well except for the Vigilante it seems?
I would be very interested...familiar with Pathfinder but newish to play-by-post (done RP/narrative heavy years and years ago, but nothing with mechanics and dice rolls before).
You said core races only...and I am fine with that, but I do want to run a thought by you. I have really been wanting to try a Vanaran Monk (Link)
It is not core, so if you veto I am fine with that...but monkey-boy monk seems like he could be fun and from the Race Point Cost standpoint he doesn't seem too broken. I would be willing to adopt the Tree Stranger Alternate Racial Trait if you felt like the 20' climb speed was unreasonable (ditches climb for knowledge skill). I think the RP potential of a Vanara raised and surrounded by humans that has never met people of his own race could be a lot of fun.
Take a look at the race on PFSRD and let me know. Once I have your ruling I will work up a character build and background.
Follow up question - your character background requirements state " Including Lorrimor in one of those might not be a bad idea." What is Lorrimor? I thought about googling it, but I didn't want to accidentally read anything that would be spoilery.
Vivian Ferris should be a familiar face, this is definitely her type of game. I'll update he stats to a 25 point buy if she is recruited.
Her back story alteration to mesh with the adventure:
With Nirmathas' recent history of fighting for independence, Vivian was raised with a strong drive to protect and defend her people. After being discharged from local militia service, she scowered the country side for mercenary work. It was there that she met a half-orc bastard from Belkzen to the North. After witnessing his ferocity in a skirmish she spoke with him and he left her a copy of the Gorumskagat poems which immediately resonated with her calling.
One night soon after she found herself in the dark moonless wood with a giant humanoid creature looming over her. Entirely covered in metal, it's eyes shown red out from the shadows of the heavy armor, and a deep voice beckoned. "Grow strong, frail woman," and she immediately awoke on the forest floor in cold sweat. The next day she traded her chain mail for heavier scale, purchased a great sword and a heavy steel shield, and began zealously worshiping the deity of Iron and War.
Edit: I'll start working on the other background details.

Sorry ignore that part. I copied and pasted this from another game I'm running and didn't edit it enough apparently lol. He's a main NPC in one of the pathfinder adventure paths.
I'm interested in submitting a greatsword-wielding human paladin (think Judge Dredd). Working on him now, will submit once he is put together.
One question - does one of the traits have to be from the campaign, or are both open to all approved sources?
There are no specific traits for this module so both are open to all approved sources. And good to see that I haven't scared off the new players from my other game and you're willing to give me another shot lol.
Howdy Mathpro!
I'm quite interested on playing this for a few reasons, one of them being CoTE was one of the first modules I almost played when I started PbP and since then I've got some itch I need to scratch.
That said, and even if I'm not a real veteran, I have my fair share of experience -both in PF and PbP- so I will submit something soon but consider me a second grade citizen, so the newbies can have their first contact with playing here.
EDIT: Clarification question... with "If you want to use something from a non hardcover source please let me know" you mean stuff out of Inner Sea Guide, Blood of Angels and such, 3rd Party or both? Just so we are on the same page ^^

I mean stuff out of the splat books Paizo puts out so Inner Sea Guide, Blood of Angles, ect. NOTHING 3pp though.
I think these background questions are an awesome idea, I like how they'll really personalize the adventure.
One question on #2, the two goals: are these from the perspective of us as players or from the PC's POV in their adventuring?
Another one of my new players expressing interest in another one of my games...interesting. I must not be doing a good enough job making you hate playing with me lol.
Per your question-The goals will be from the characters POV, not the players.
Dot that will pierce the heavens. Maybe trying out a half elf cleric of Erastile. He would have been apprenticed to the local priest there in town. If I remember correctly, the PCs should be about on the cusp of adulthood, so about 18, 19, and 20.
Created a Human Alchemist here. I did use the Trap Breaker archtype for RP reasons. It doesn't have any effect on level one so I can change it as needed.
Also a couple questions for the campaign: Is there a major city nearby that I can tie to this character? Do they have a name for their sewers?
Plot Bits:
Description:
Victor wandered away from a poorly run city orphanage at the age of 5 and never returned. Instead, he learned to lurk under the streets with other street urchins and scavenge what he could to survive. Better at thinking than fighting, he quickly learned to leverage the sewers access to old tombs and newer shops rather than risk physical confrontation. While magically gifted, he was unable to make any use of his talents until one day making off with a stack of books from a bookseller. In one tomb he found an apprentice's old alchemy manual and has been self-teaching alchemy ever sense, A tragic accident in his home city has driven out of the sewers and into the greater world for the first time, but his home will always be under the earth.
5 Plot Points:
1) Victor has lived underground the vast majority of his life. He stoops even when he doesn't need to and will eagerly take and excuse to go underground
2) Victor has learned from stolen book and by experimentation - he lacks formal knowledge and his theories are a mismatch of actual magical theory and superstitions gained by confirmation bias
3) Victor was known as the 'Gentle Giant of Underhold' in the city and cherses the image that came with the title. It's the thing he considered most precious and reputation means a lot to him
4)Victor is very curious and likes to tinker with unknown things whenever he can get away with it. He's likely to not only disable a trap, but attempt to scavenge any springs or pieces that seem unique to him
5) Victor's recent incident has resulted in a hatred of poisons. He won't create them again and refuses to even use them
Goals:
a) Victor wants to embed himself with a group of individuals - either the party or his new masters in the Dark Archives. He desires to be thought of very well by this new group as a substitute for the community he ran from
b) (Long term goal) Victor wants to be able to return to a respected profession - preferably as an alchemist, although he has no qualms about considering tomb raiding or other professions, so long as he is respected in it.
Secrets:
1) Victor was experimenting with poisons, looking for a way to steal into tombs containing the undead. He flushed two of his experiments into the sewer without thinking and the combination sickened both the underground and above ground inhabitants when it seeped into the groundwater supply. Victor realized he was the cause in a couple days and ran, fearing both the legal repercussions and the loss of the good image he had in the undergound community. Victor hasn't been formally tied to the crime, but is considered a suspect, although the underground folk believe him innocent (both facts of which he doesn't know)
2) Unbeknownst to Victor, his flight has lead to an unexpected boon. Investigators have, in trying to determine his whereabouts, found and notified his biological father of his son's existence. His father Grunwald is a Wizard is a poor opinion of alchemy, but wants to locate his potentially talented son and see if he can be trained to 'proper magical knowledge'.
Associates:
Gran Fencelady - One of the members of the Underhold that Victor knew well and the only one who routinely deals with abovegrounders. As the name implies, she's a known fence who often traded Victor's good for books and food he needed.
Chit - A local gnome thief that Victor has made contact with. Victor has a prelimanry agreement to fence goods through him. Chit knows that Victor is from the city and knows an Underground dweller when he sees one, but hasn't pressed for details yet
Francisca - local bookseller that caught Victor trying his hand and shoplifting the first day he arrived. Recognized a potential customer and has instead convinced him to pay for chapbooks on the grounds that she can give him good recommendations. Kind of an elderly aunt figure for Victor.
Jarl Stonewalker - Dwarf investigator trying to determine the cause of the incident (listed in secrets) that Victor was responsible for. Doesn't have hard evidence to implicate Victor, but knows anyone who disappears in the middle of an investigation is likely guilty of something
Memories:
1) Life in the underhold, ambling down a familiar corridor to warm greeting from Gran Fencelady and other underdwellers young and old. Being generous with food and coin in exchange for smiles and the kind of extended family the community brought
2) Spending two days without sleep trying to determine how everyone was getting sick. Turning in horror to the disposal drain he was using and realizing that the aquifer feeding the well must be under the drain route. Gathering his things and stealing away over the surface during the night.
3) Arriving in town for the first time. It seemed like a wonderland, with the wide open spaces, plentiful light and slow pace. Nothing like the underground at all. Realizing his was a stranger in a strange land with no easy access to what he knew.

I'm sorry but that race is a no go.
No problem, I understand and respect. If I didn't ask the answer was definetely no, so no harm in asking.
I will look at my other options and get a build out that isn't the same as other people's some time today or tomorrow.
I think I will write up a Dwarven Warpriest of Angradd (Fire and War domains).

Tamran would work really well actually - all that swamp means tons of drainage tunnels. Thanks for the map.
Vivian's background and questions are done! Still picking small things like traits, and as I said before I'll update her stats to a 25 point buy if she is recruited.
Kranolud was raised in the dwarven communities of the Onyx Foothills, beyond the northern shores of the Tourondel River. His parents were taken from him as a youth, his home burned by incursions of orcish raiding parties. With no family to take him in and nowhere to turn, Kranolud found himself being raised in the Monastery of the Forge-Fire.
Being an orphan in the cities of the Onyx Foothills where family is so important is not a wonderful way to be raised as a youth. Kranolud experience a lot of bullying as a small child, until he grew into his body and was able to fight back.
Initially, Kranolud wanted to become a paladin and join the ranks of the Home Guard to repel future orcish raids and take the battle to them. Unfortunately, the path of a paladin in the Onyx Foothills begins in a place of privilege and prosperity, and being an orphan, he had neither. So instead, he become a novice in the Forge-Fire temple, training with the clerics and warpriests there and found it a good outlet for his aggressive desires.
Now, 55 years later, he is finally ready for the Journey of Valor, a rite of passage that every novice must face to become an accepted of the Forge-Fire. He must travel into the outer world and accomplish a task of great importance. Only his honor will tell him when that task has been completed and he can return to the Foothills of his fathers, ready to return to the temple, no longer just a student, but a teacher as well.
Background info:
1) I think most of the 5 points are above, but to recap -
a. Kranolud is an orphan, raised by the priests in the holy temple of Angraad.
b. Kranolud feels anger at the death of his parents and the bullying he experienced when they were not around.
c. This feelings are tempered by the teachings of the temple, to use strength of body and arms to bring about good in the world.
d. Kranolud has great respect for people he perceives as honorable, such as Knights and Paladins. Their honor is what he feels is missing in his life, a counterpoint to his hatred.
e. Kranolud is entering the wider world for the first time, to complete his Journey of Valor.
2) Goals:
a. Kranolud wishes to complete some task of great importance to complete his Journey of Valor and return to the Onyx Cave a respected member of society.
b. He also hopes to locate the orcs that killed his family, and exact revenge. He understands that this is not in line with what he was taught in the temple, but he doesn't particularly care.
3) Secrets:
a. Kranolud remembers a little of the night his parents died, mostly just the fire. To this day, the thought of being trapped in a burning building wakes him up at night in a cold sweat. Secretly he hoped that adopting the fire blessing of Angraad would help him overcome this cowardice he perceives in himself, or at least protect him from it.
b. He does not know that his parents were not actually killed by orcs. They were assassinated for supporting a king that was overthrown in favor of a democratic council of merchants, craftsmen, and knights. Knights were involved in this assassination. Should Kranolud learn of this it will shake his believes in an honorable world to the very core.
4) People:
a. Sirote Nishchiy - Kranolud's sister. Kranolud was too young to remember his sister after the fire, and his sister was just a baby. They do not know of eachother, but they have had similar, if slightly divergent, lives. Sirote was raised by a group of Hags on the outskirts of the major town of the Onyx Foothills, and has become an accomplished magic user in her own right.
b. Grand Master Thran - Kranolud's master. The master of the Forge-Fire, Thran has served Angraad for just over 200 years. Now he has begun to look to the future and search for a new master of the Forge-Fire. He has several initiates that he think may be worthy. Kranolud is not one of them.
c. Sredneye Mal'chik - Kranolud's rival. Of all the boys in town to bully Kranolud, Sredneye was the worst. The son of a wealthy owner of a Mithril mine, Sredneye has everything in life that Kranolud doesn't, including the privelege to train with the Home Guard. At least, he did, until he was caught stealing from the armory and was dismissed. Now he is a wealthy street thug and tough, with a gang of hirelings to do his bidding.
d. Master Rispon - Kranolud's teacher. One of the teachers at the Forge-Fire, Rispon guided Kranolud's young life and taught him the path of a warpriest. He is stern, but fair, and truly loves Kranolud as a father loves a son. Of all the teachers at the Forge-Fire he is seen as the favorite to become the new Grand Master.
5. Memories - A house burning down around him. Sitting on the street with a bloody nose and a firey rage in his veins while Sredneye laughs above him. The first time he bested Master Rispon in a duel, a burning of pride in his bosom.
As for his fear, it should be apparent that it is, strangly, fire. I plan on Kranolud being wary of the flames on his Waraxe, and very careful about making sure campfires are ALL the way out.

Hello! I'm not a new gamer, but I've only got a smattering of experience in Play by Post games. I remember this book from years ago irl, and I'd love to play it. No spoilers... I promise!
I hope that the Bolt Ace archetype for the Gunslinger is acceptable! I liked it better than the core gunslinger anyways.

Nico Wagner Fluff:
Nico grew up in Kassen, the third born son of a family of hunters. Though not particularly good with a bow, he was able to contribute to the family hunts with a crossbow that his father had purchased for him once he was able to shoot straight.
The Wagner family helped provide meat for Kassen for years until Nico and his mother both fell ill with the same illness. He survived... she didn't. Though they still hunted, the illness had reduced the demand for continuous hunters for a while, and as Nico recovered, he spent his time diligently practicing the art of the crossbow, until he was able to perform feats of archery that was comparable to the graceful skill of elves.
He was originally supposed to perform the ritual of the Everflame with some of the other kids his age about three years ago, but he had gone out hunting before and lost track of the days and missed it.
It comes again that the youths of Kassen are to perform the ritual, and he wants to take part in the town's ceremony. The days before were filled with his excited talk and preparations for the event, so much so his father sent him home several times for scaring away his prey.
I found some art for my character here... Very close to what I had envisioned.
EDIT: I had this long post part written for the DM's personal requests, but the forums ate it. *swears at screen*
I'll write it up, but I have it all in my head now and it's really late tonight.
Concept Points
1.) Qina is a small town girl who seeks adventure and excitement.
2.) She is much closer to a teenage girl than an adventurer. She is friendly and talkative and wouldn’t hesitate to strike up a conversation with almost anyone.
3.) Qina isn’t too smart, but is very loyal and rather brave. Like a curious child, she doesn’t scare too easily. She is more intrigued by new things than she is frightened of them.
4.) Qina is rather naïve and trusting. She doesn’t suspect evil from regular people and common folk, or even new people she meets.
5.) Qina has recently started experimenting with art and tattooing. So far, she has only worked on her own tattoos.
Goals
1.) Qina wants to become an adventurer and leave the small town life behind.
2.) She wants to be able to provide for her family so her father doesn’t have to work and her family doesn’t starve.
Secrets
1.) Qina is embarrassed by the evil dragon’s blood that runs in her veins.
2.) Unknown to both Qina and Jamir, Jamir is not her actual father, although he has raised her like his own.
Acquaintances
1.) Anafa, Qina’s mother is a hardworking halfling woman works as a cook in the local inn or tavern.. She taught Qina how to cook. She tries to keep a watchful eye on Qina as she knows that Jamir is not Qina’s father.
2.) Jamir, Qina’s father is a hard working carpenter with a leg injury that has slowed the man and hurt the family’s economy. He is a proud man that loves his family and tries his best to provide for them.
3.) Qina’s younger (half) sister Pressi hates Qina. Not just the victim of Qina’s first spell, Pressi was always jealous of Qina. She hates Qina and would like nothing more than to hurt Qina in any way possible.
Memories
1.) Qina remembers the first time she gave someone the cold shoulder, literally. Her first cold spell was unexpected and almost killed her (half) sister.
2.) She has varying reoccurring dreams about white dragons and she fears becoming a monster herself.
3.) Qina will never forget when she first met her familiar, "Crow". It's not everyday that a raven tells you where to find the other kids that are hiding.
Fear
1.) Qina is afraid of pretty much anything that can swallow her whole.
Submitting Praetor Ryswell the Human Paladin for review.
I still have to update a couple statistics, but the background (including your required info) and basic data are finished.
I did use the Trait "Rich Parents" to create my character (starting wealth 900gp), but would be willing to change that if you are opposed to it.
I had to change up my Paladin a bit, so I ended up creating a different Character Profile. Please use this character as my official submission for you new campaign (instead of Praetor) and I apologize for any confusion!

@DM: Just curious. I read somewhere this module does have a couple of potential sequels. If this game goes well, are/would you consider continuing with the those too?
@Vivian: That is one of my favorite movies! Thank you for that laugh! I needed it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this list. I was going to do this today but you save me the effort.
And yes I'll be running the sequels if this goes well. I've never finished this module before in play by post format though so I don't want to get my hopes up to high lol.
