Noticing a number of characters don't seem to be from Kassen. Kind of strange that as well, a lot of them are far older. The module is expecting that the PCs are young adults from the town, on the cusp of adulthood.

Keila should be ready now

Just so you guys know I will be closing recruitment at Noon tomorrow not 12 AM

All righty!

DM's Things about Nico Wagner:

I'd like 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character:
1. Nico is a hunter, just like his father before him.
2. Nico is a native of Kassen, and grew up knowing most everyone in the town.
3. Nico and his mother were both stricken ill by the same plague that ravaged the town several years ago. Nico survived; his mother didn't.
4. His father had bought him a masterwork crossbow when he turned 10, named it 'Trusty Tina'. Nico sometimes can be heard talking to her.
5. Though he has known everyone, his voice was damaged by his illness so he prefers to listen over speaking. He also learned sign language to communicate with his father while out hunting.

Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game:
1. Perform the ritual of the Everflame and prove to his friends and family he's okay.
2. Finally have an adventure where his skills as a crack shot are appreciated.

Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC:
1. Nico doesn't know that the reason his mother died was because when they were sick they could only afford to buy so much of the cure. His mother, still conscious, made his father promise to give it all to their son and ensuring he lived instead of splitting it between the two and just giving each a chance to make it.
2. Nico's secret: He's not sure if he's attracted to girls or boys. He had an incident with a pair of identical half-elven twins that has left him confused.

3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc:
1. His father (Blood)
2. Isolde and Ismeth (Affection?) Identical Twins, male and female.
3. Tarmin Cairn (Childhood Rival) A son of another hunting family. He mocks Nico for using a crossbow instead of a bow.
4. Lara Dane (Childhood Friend, no romance) They used to get into trouble along with Tarmin, until the relationship between Tarmin and Nico soured.

Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission:
Lorrimor? Like, the professor from Carrion Crown?
1. His coming of age. When he turned 10, he was given a beautiful, carefully crafted crossbow sized for an adult, and was allowed to start learning to shoot and even help hunt small game for the family profession. That crossbow gave him a freedom he never realized he needed.
2. His mother's death. A confusing time for him that left him emotionally and physically scarred him. He remembered his mother lying in the same room as him, whispering encouragement to him as the both of them suffered from the disease. He was treated, and when he woke she had passed on.
3. The incident with Isolde and Ismeth. A few years before, (about 3) he had developed a crush on Isolde, a half elven girl approximately his age (well, she was older but physically they were close). She had returned some of his affections, until one day he came up on her while she was working at her table and embraced her from behind. Only, it wasn't Isolde it was Ismeth, her brother. Ismeth's response was friendly enough, which only further confused him. He's been friendly to both of them, but has been a little distant.

Finally, I'd like you to include with your submission a fear or paranoia that causes your character to shiver, cower, or panic:
1. He's got a deeply rooted fear that his mother resented his surviving when she didn't. He would be much more easily scared if an undead appearing similar to his mother (which I leave to your discretion) were to approach him or verbally/physically attack him.

I did not catch this in the previous notes...

Easy enough to fix...I will change Kranolud to be 35, which is just shy of an adult dwarf.

His backstory shouldn't need to change. He is in town on his Journey of Valor, searching for some good to do in the world.

I would like to submit Belathorian for judgement, thanks for your consideration Mathpro. I'd love to have a chance to run this classic adventure, I like the fact that it's so local and all the characters are new.

Should all be in order but let me know if you have any questions or problems.

(Ps Sorry for the late submission, had to rearrange last minute...)

(Pps Scratch Janus from the list, this is his replacement)

Background:

1)
a: He is a builder. Weapons, Armor, communities, friendships. Creating and maintaining these gives him spiritual fulfillment.
b: He is an orphan. His parents were killed after a giant attack in the Five Kings mountains. survivors were injured and left to make their way back to the Hold, but were set upon by gryphons before they could make it back. Afterwards, he was sent to live in Nirmathas with his uncle, away from the dangers of the mountains.
c: He is friendly, but shy. He is affable and outgoing to everyone, and can be flirtatious with girls, but he is terrified of what might happen if a girl might actually express interest in him. He has no idea what he would do.
d: He is an aficionado. He has sampled all the liquor, wine, and beer that the town has to offer, and hopes to sample more out in the wide world.
e. He talks to his hammer. All his weapons and armor really. It started as a childish habit during his apprenticeship, but it has evolved into an act of devotion. He respects the tools, and endeavors to coax the best he can out of the metal.

2)
a: He would like to see the Five Kings Mountains. He has no memories of his homeland, but it calls to him.
b: He would like to craft a really nice magical hammer as an act of devotion to Torag.

3)
a: To himself: He has a tremendous crush on Fanny, a human barmaid at the inn. It's crippling.
b: From him: He has a destiny. Portents surrounding his birth said that he would revitalize the Kingdom of the Dwarves, but only after great tumult. That is the true reason he was sent to Nirmathas. His parents are very much alive.

4)
a: His cousin/uncle, the blacksmith.
b: Fanny, the barmaid, his crush.
c,d,e: Cron, Felder, and Sim: three bullies that plague the town but never do quite enough to get the law involved. Karst has encountered them many times and spoiled their fun. He has beaten each of them in turn and as a group, but they have abushed him and left him unconscious in the latrine pit. Cron is starting to consider getting rid of Karst on a more permanent basis.

5)
a: The first time he crafted an axe his uncle considered worthy of sale. It took many tries, and was a moment of spiritual epiphany for him. He considers it the moment that set him on the path to the clericy.
b: One day, after being left in the dust by the bullies after stopping them from abusing a stray dog, Sir Lorrimor helped him up, commended him on his defense of the weak, and stressed the importance of getting back on your feet when things lay you low. It really lifted Karst's spirits, and he has nursed a fair amount of hero-worship for Lorrimor since then.
c: Fanny ran her fingers through his beard once. It was wonderful.

Karst is -terrified- of ghosts. his uncle is an avid raconteur, and has many stories, real and imagined, or spooks and specters that no axe could cut nor hammer could smash setting upon an unsuspecting young dwarf. this notion wills Karst with dread. He knows he can channel energy to fight said evils, but he has never done it before, so he has some doubts.

Thank you for the consideration. I just found this thread today.

I notice, however, that the list is a bit heavy on clerics and light on Arcane casters. I could throw something together to fill this need if it would help round out the party.

Okay guys recruitment is closed and I've made my selections. Thanks to everyone who built a character for this, there were many great applicants and it was hard to make a decision. I've decided to take 6 players along. I know this module was built for four but if we lose one or two along the way we will still be in good shape.

Will the following people post in the discussion thread linked to this recruitment thread when they get a chance:

Quina Coldfire
Vivian "Finkle" Ferris
Belathorian Twice Born
Brezik Arkennslang
Allister Sunscale
Gad'larr Fireblood

Thank you again to all that applied. Those selected will be receiving a PM from me shortly.

Aww... Well good luck guys!

Thank you sir!
