If I don't do the "Sleep" night action, do I still have the chance of getting up early enough to recover spell slots? Erm, sleep long enough, that is.
EDIT: Also, do you have a preference for what language should be used as Elven?

DM Crustypeanut |

Ah s#!@ sorry Zenu!
Elven.. I don't have a preference, pick one :D
You only need to take the "Sleep" action if you need to spend an hour to prep your spells in the morning - as a Sorcerer, you regain your spells only if you do not do any extra night time actions beyond the first.
If you stay up late doing one or two extra nighttime actions, then you don't get your spells.

Alright guys, got the responses posted, not to mention completely revamping the attitude sheet - go check it out! I can now keep it easily updated.
Also, I've added the DC's for each person's attitude level to the sheet - now you know what you need to hit to increase their attitude.
I'll have day 4's posting up soon.

Zenu |

Hm... Interesting.
Zenu's now thinking of how best to use this information. Of course, since he's not quite brilliant, it's unlikely that he'll think of everything I do... Huh. I wonder. xD Should be interesting, though. It is, admittedly, a disappointment the elf lady is uninterested, but at least she doesn't really want to kill him any more. I hope. xD Never hurts to keep one's kinsfolk from applying knives to one's back.
EDIT: Huh, the hobgoblin also doesn't hate his guts yet. That's surprising. We'll see... Well, at the moment, he's got no real reason to disbelieve her. In fact, Osir's cheerful abandonment of his duties gives him more reason to believe her. Of course, he doesn't really like obeying. Anyone. That's sort of Calistria's teachings coming out in him, I suppose. xD But we'll see.

Osir Korzar |

Crusty, I can't see the google document right now, is there anyway you can copy and paste the attitudes into a PM to me? I want to make updates in regard to my character on my sheet.
EDIT: PS, any xp for winning the arm wrestling and putting Fipp's in his place?

DM Crustypeanut |

We're no longer using the Exp system, as mentioned in the discussion thread a little ways up. You did earn a little bit of money, however!
DM Jelani is the one who gave me the idea, and working out the math, I think it an excellent idea myself, considering how slow Pbp goes as a general rule.
So yeah, you guys no longer need to worry about Xp! I'll tell you when to level up.
I'll see what I can do for the attitudes in a message to ye.

Good Afternoon,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still here, I have just had no time to be able to really post anything this week. I've already clocked in a full work week and it's only Wednesday. I hope to post something soon, but I don't want to promise tomorrow and then not be able to deliver.

DM Crustypeanut |

Man.. this campaign.. Just not feeling it. At the rate we're going - Heck, lets go faster than the rate we're going, and say we get done with one on-ship day per real-time week. Considering we're supposed to be here for 21 days.. thats going to take foreeeverr.
I'm trying to come up wtih a way to speed it up, but without you guys losing the precious time that you need - as the 21 days is supposed to give you time to explore, befriend the crew, learn the ropes of being a pirate, etc. I'm just starting to think that S&S, as-is, is one of the worst campaigns for a play-by-post.. despite the campaign itself being pretty damn fun. If I simply shorten the time, it might screw you guys over.
Hmm.. any ideas on how to speed up the days onboard the Wormwood without losing content? I'm all ears.
I vaguely remember that one or two of you have played the campaign before.. so feel free to pm me if you are going to include spoilers. Would also be nice to know if any of you have experience with this campaign on a play-by-post setting, and how it was handled.

My suggestion, each of us list some things we would normally be doing on board, and who we may interact with, and instead of day by day results, we do 7 day chunks, resulting in 3 time intervals instead of 21. That still would let us rp some of the intro, but move at a better pace.
Also, on a pirate ship, especially under a strict captain, socializing during day time is really limited I would assume. So, most of our rp is likely to take place at night where we can mingle. Not saying we can't talk with people with similar tasks during the day, but to really get to know each other, I feel like that will have to happen during night actions, so we should probably emphasize that time frame more.

Zenu |

I concur, more or less, with the assessment of the day/night thing. Our days are when we can't do much but work. Plotting probably will go on during the evening, I would imagine.
Also, I apologize, as well - my interest hasn't waned, but the time when I can work up a decent post has. I was being consumed by life, and couldn't post. I think this has largely changed, for the time being, but I'm not sure.

Saranaja |

Losing some detail is better than losing the campaign, so by all means take whatever means necessary :) The humdrum everyday activities aren't the important stuff after all. Saranaja will just be sleeping her way through the crew that measure up to her standards and generally trying to do as little work as possible while establishing a power base for herself ;)

DM Crustypeanut |

Alright guys, so heres what we're going to do - taking your suggestions into mind, we're going to do days 5-7 in one clump, then 8-14 and 15-21 in each their own clumps.
What I need you to do (After I give responses to day 4's stuff), is give me your actions for those days in their own spoilers. Include all of the same info you've been doing - Day actions, nighttime actions. You may still influence during the day if you wish, I'm not going to modify that.
For each day we'll be doing in each clump, I'll give you your jobs, the weather, and any odd events that happen. Expect no more than one combat per 'week', excluding this first week.
So, an example, this is what your posts will look like:
I'll respond to each day's events as needed. Lets see how this works then! (Responses to Day 4 coming soon)

Saranaja |

For such a small crew there a lot of runners the next few days :p
Also: bilges? I don't think so... :P This could be a problem... Hmm, she's going to be looking to swap jobs with somebody, or else get someone to do the work for her. Any suggestions Crusty? It's not really covered by the current options, but she can be quite 'convincing'.
She'd probably try to convince Zenu to swap with her on day 7. She could probably do his jobs without the swap being noticed. Not so much on day 6 when everyone is a runner :p so she'll have to convince an NPC to do it for her. Looking at the attitude sheet you seem to have made Shirtless Shag helpful to her instead of Jack. She'll probably be calling on the enamored Jack to swap jobs with her, and she'll help him 'wash up' afterwards.

DM Crustypeanut |

Woops, fixing that now.
Also.. Plugg assigned your jobs personally, so he'd catch you if you switched jobs; however, you can easily ask a friend or two to help you, granting you a +2 assist bonus per person. Doing so is asking for easy assistance - something of rather low DC I believe.
Effectively, you can get two people to help you, allowing you to more easily 'shirk' your duties.

DM Crustypeanut |

Good news guys!
I've recently gotten a hold of Razor Coast: Fire As She Bears, which supplements ship-based combat with a Ton of new customizations for ships and ship-to-ship combat. Should you guys be interested, we can impliment these rules (Such as alternately sized cannons, custom-ship designs, ship-based leadership roles, ship-to-ship combat being modified to be more mass-combaty, etc) when we get around to them. Obviously it wont' be right now, and I'm still reading these rules, but so far they look awesome.
What say you? Even though as the DM I have the final say, I am curious as to what you guys think. I can list off specifics soon, once I get more comfortable with the rules, so you can pick/choose if you want.
