I'll wait a bit longer to give Woodsmoke a chance to post, then I'll move the game forward. And I think Grym's player will be back, but it may be some time and not sure how gaming will fit in with his new work schedule.
In the meantime, has anyone read Ernest Cline's "Ready Player One"? It's awesome. Imagine a future where having an encyclopedic knowledge of D&D, videogames, and 80's movies and pop songs would make the difference in saving the world?

Yes, have a great vacation. We can spend a little time plotting our next move while you're gone. Leveling is pretty easy for Yeks
Trick Shot: Disarm
Weapon Focus (Longbow)
1 skill point each into Stealth and Survival
HP for Level 3
1d10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 1 = 13

Any suggestions for a feat for third level? I don't have any build I'm going for, so if anyone has any requests for the betterment of the group? I was originally planning on being a bit of a buffer but so far it seems our non-whole camp encounters are dealt with pretty quickly so I don't know if it is as prudent to focus on such spells, though dropping a few party members might say otherwise.

I'm not the best judge of feats either, though there are plenty that might be useful to a druid. Buffing feats are always useful, and Augment Summoning or Combat Casting might come in handy. Greater Wild Empathy from Ultimate Magic might be worth a look at, and I'm curious whether animal companions can qualify for teamwork feats; by each taking a teamwork feat, you and Shiv could probably create some pretty devastating combat combos.

I believe animal companions are only able to take the feats listen under Animal Feats in the animal companion entry, but if you choose to raise their intelligence to 3 through ability points, they are able to take any feat for which they qualify. Combat Casting was what I was leaning towards, but right now I am actually thinking about going the summoning route. I've never really done that before, but I think it might be useful, particularly in large combat situations. Spell Focus (Conjuration) is a bit underwhelming, but between Augment Summoning, Sunlight/Moonlight/Starlight Summons, Superior Summoning, etc, it could be pretty cool.

I'm starting to play with summoning for some clerics. It does look like an interesting route. Should play better in PbP than in person games too. Just don't put too much cover out there for poor Yekskya.
You are correct on the feats question unless CHH house rules. Its one of the reasons why Eye for Talent is well-regarded as a human racial trait since it gives you a +2 to an ability score for an animal companion.

No, you're right, I think animal companions are limited to the feats listed for them under druids. The summoning feats sound like a great choice.
Has anyone tried playing a summoner? I've crafted a few, but haven't yet played one in a game. I think they're a fun class, very different from any of the core classes.

I've played alongside a summoner in Kingmaker, but that one was so ridiculously overpowered. No fun at all. Before any of us had a chance to act (well, the inquisitor regularly beat him on initiative) the fight often was over before it had really started. The player is a great guy, but he's mapped every character's life from creation right up to epic levels as soon as he creates a character. He doesn't see it as munchkin or even min-maxing, but....
Anyways, Rowena's HP for level 3: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Blarghhh!

No worries. I'll not drop out of any game without at least giving you guys a heads-up. But since I'm not going to leave at all, you won't be seeing any messages to that effect. Checking in daily, but I hate not doing a proper post, so my latest one is really only borderline acceptable for me. Will try to stick to a more regular schedule. And to remember that Firefox needs to be refreshed after restoring the previous session if I want to see new posts ;-)

Yeah, thought it was pretty quiet around here this past week, good to have you all back. I think Grym's player is still around as well but when he's working away from home I think he's without Wifi, so maybe we'll just hear from him when he rotates home.
I'm on my way out the door just now but I'll get a post up tonight.

Mmm, it has been a while, I'm not sure we ever made a firm decision. If you want to make a house rule, I'd propose you have the choice to either take half hit dice plus one. Or, if you're a gambler, make the roll on the boards, but you keep the result regardless if it's lower than the average. Does that sound fair, or unfair?

Yekskya |

I looked back and looks like Yeks has been gambling so far. Might as well keep doing it till the worm turns.
1d10 ⇒ 10
Woo hoo!
Leveling
Continue putting favored class bonus in HP
+1 Dexterity
Bonus Feat: Weapon Specialization (Longbow)
Skills: +1 Stealth and Survival

CH, I was wondering if you might allow me at this level up to retool slightly as a Jungle Druid. I know this is generally a decision for first level, but Zag is beginning to become a bit fond of jungles and their primal power, and I suppose a lot of the adventuring to come will take a fair amount of place in jungle-like terrain. And I won't lie, some of the desire to retool comes from hitting 4th level and seeing the dreaded and mostly useless Resist Nature's Lure ability. The only things that would retroactively change for me would be Trackless Step only working in jungle terrain and getting 1/2 level bonuses to some skills while in jungle terrain. I understand if you decide no, but just thought I'd ask.
HP for 4th -
5 base +3 con
+1 Constitution (retroactively adding a total of +3 HP as well)
+1 HP for Favored Class
+1 HP for Toughness
(+13 max HP. Not bad)
+1 Base Attack, Fort, Will.
1 more 2nd and 3rd level spell per day.
Gain Resist Nature's Lure and Wild Shape 1/day (if I can become a jungle druid, I gain Torrid Resistance and do not get Wild Shape until 6th level).
Shiv got a lot. Grows to medium size, +4 strength, -2 dex, +2 con (+1 more ccon for 4 HD), bite increases to 1d8, gains a tail slap for 1d12, loses 2 AC but gains 15 HP. Gains sprint and death roll abilities.
..I had worked everything into the character sheet but then the site lost it for me due to the "large amount of traffic from the great golem sale." Will update the sheet tomorrow again.
