Chronicles of the Silver Rose Company

Game Master Patrick Curtin

This campaign is my attempt to play a canonical Planescape campaign using the updated Pathfinder ruleset. The game actually predates the release of Pathfinder, but we have managed to update as we have needed.

Is the map updated? Sorry about the holdup, things were pretty crazy.

Sorry for quick pop in, running late again here. The map is same except the khaasta under the green 'L' is dead and the khaasta from the top of the stairs is now on the flagstones directly below. Issac has tumbled tp P22 and Swire is on the other side of the 'L' khaasta. If you want to post an action Drazek, I'll DMPC Bethany if you don't have time for it. In fact, why dont we assume Bethany is doing Inspire Courage ... +1 ATK/DAM/CHARM/FEAR rolls

Bethany begins a haunting melody. Everyone feels uplifted and energized

Human Wiz 12 (Evocation)

No worries Dungeon Monkey! (Hope everythings alright!) I'll just post Justin's action and you can add it into the narrative when you get to it.

"Alright, 'Boots' it is!" Justin says to the lizard.

"You like playing with hot things 'Boots'? Try THIS! Fuego!!"

Justin shouts, gathering the flames dancing in his hands into a single ball of fire, then hurls it towards the Khashtaa.
Using fire Burst ability to make sure I hit him, AND maybe knock him off his perch? All 3rd lvl fire spells used up, so only 2d6 dmg. (Can I use a charge from my ring to add another +1d6 to it?) if so,...

3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6) = 16

"BOOM Baby!"

Ummm, which khaasta are you hitting? You are at the top level and the only khaasta you've seen is the one with a 2X4 through the eyesocket ..

Oh,... um,... I rolled a Nat 20 on my perception, so I PRESUMED (I never 'assume' anymore!) ;P that I saw the Khastaa who dumped the boiling water on me. (Figures it's a trap,... wasting good fireballs, assorted grumbles) ;P

female Tiefling 12th level Duskblade

Karrin clicks together the heels of her new boots and suddenly appears behind the lizards.

Just useing one charge to appear just on the other side of the doorway.

"Surprise," she says as she levels her axe, "this is where you'd be advised to surrender."

Well, you did notice one thing ...

The grey cat on the crate is gone. Justin hears a skitter *thump* sound from behind the boxes.

You can assume you didn't toss that firenball without a target

ROUND FOUR ACTIONS (updated):

Khaasta 18 [Attacking]
Mr. Swire: 18 [atk/hit/kill]
Issac: 17 [tumble/atk/miss]
Merle: 14 [Hideous laughter]
Karrin: 13 [atk/hit/kill]
Justin: 13 [boiling mad]
Drazek: 13 [DMPC-attacking]
Tiandra: 13 [Atk/miss]
Naridre: 13 [telekenesis]
Phaumee: 13 [Atk/miss]
Bethany: 13 [Bardsong-+1 ATK/DAM/CHARM/FEAR]
Ekuur: 10 [CMW-Karrin]

For sake of gameflow, I'm gonna DMPC Drazek:

Drakek raises his hand and speaks an unholy word. A beam of dark energy lances out from his scepter towards the khaasta halberdiers

ATK: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 235d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 1, 5) + 1 = 14 Touch ATK, ranged, with +1 from Bethany, no extra charges

One of the khaasta at the doorway crumbles, his scales flaking off in drifts from his suddenly grey skin

One halberdier left .. NEW ROUND!!!!!

Seeing the footsoldiers falling to the onslaught, and their comrade fall from the stairs, the khaasta all race towards each other to set up a defensive position. The robed one gets up and limps towards the others, yelling out and arcane word and throwing something into the air. The bone-bedecked khaasta chants as well, and a sudden grey fog blossoms out, obscuring the three.

OK, you guys' turn. Post actions. I will not be able to be on until Sun at the earliest ..

OK, folks, post dem actions!

>UPDATED MAP-RD FIVE!

Female catfolk sorceror 11

Realising she cant really hit anything where she is Merle attempts to tumble into the room.

Acrobatics

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

If she makes it she uses the rest of her movement to head up the stairs.

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 10

Only able to view the khaasta in the doorway, Ekuur decides to take advantage of the fact that the lizard is wearing such heavy armor. He focuses, and the metal making up the creature's plate begins to vibrate ever so slightly. It grows noticably warm to the touch.

Use matter agitation on the khaasta I can see.

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

On the map, Isaac had tumbled to P22, Swire had moved into M25 where Isaac had tumbled from.

Isaac moves diagonally, taking a double move, to H14.

Swire feints at the Khaasta in the doorway, looking to provoke an opening. Move action due to Swire's improved feint.
Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Kidneythief: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 261d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 63d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) = 12
1 point bleed damage from the wounding rapier. I altered Swire's action after posting, since I hadn't realized he had improved feint.

Between Ekuur's agitation and Swire's slice, the last halberdier falls And I fogot to have him attack someone this round-taking care of that now ..

Before Swire strikes, the last lizard swipes at Issac

Karrin's axe meets only fog. She can hear chanting in the fogginess and a clanging

Human Wiz 12 (Evocation)

Justin looks around, realizes that the cat is gone, and quickly cataloged the various possibilities that entailed.

"AW,... The Lady's Pierced Nipples!" Justin swears, tossing a ball of flame over the crate at where he last heard a noise.

2d6 fire dmg, 5' mini fireball

As the explosion goes off, Justin rips open the trapdoor, and jumps through the opening, trusting in the magic of his boots to save him from anything too terrible happening!

I like my cat-boots! :) Haven't gotten to use them yet! ;P

Justin's small fireball explodes among the crates that the cat was sitting on with a *whumph*, ripping several open. The crates rapidly catch fire. Justin can see that the crates contain large ballista bolts with some sort of flamable covering. They leap into flames.

UH OH ...

Justin runs to the hatch and tries to pull it up. Despite the bolts not being engaged on this side, the hatchway doesn't budge. It feels as if there are bolts on the other side as well. He is left tugging and swearing as the large circular room fills with smoke.

OK, ROUND SIX!!!!

The khaasta in the fogbank do not reemerge, but the sound of ominous chanting reverberates from within..

Wide eyed, Justin tries the door again. It still refuses to budge.

"Aw, Fer the LUV of <Cough>!"

Justin takes a step back, looks around, and quickly decides what the situation calls for is MORE fire!

He hastily casts a familiar spell, both his gloves and his amulet flashing as he does so, and sprays a stream of fire at the trapdoor. Not a simple ball of flame or bolt of fire, but a steady stream, like a dragon's breath that eats away at the wooden trapdoor.

Ray of Flame at trapdoor, 5d6+50% fire dmg:
5d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 2, 4) = 17
+50% =8pts, 25 pts dmg to trapdoor total? If that is not enough, he'll do it again NEXT round! If it Is, his move action,...

Coughing at the increase in smoke, Justin raises his arm to protect his face with the sleeve of his (mildly) enchanted coat, and jumps on the door full force, both feet, heels first,...

I am USING my cat boots! ;P And ,ironically, the water that previously scalded him is now offering some protection against the fire! :)

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 10

"These lizards just do not want to die." Ekuur removes a particular scroll from his pack and begins intoning the words contained within. A bright flash of flame consumes the parchment, and suddenly (hopefully) the sound of the chanting ceases.

Cast silence from my scroll, targeting a point in space - the approximate center of the cloud of fog.

female Tiefling 12th level Duskblade

Karrin wades into the fog looking for a lizard to squash, preferably the leader, when she's within 5ft of some unlucky khaasta she mashes it with her axe.

Karrin will use her Quick cast ability to instantly channel a true strike spell, then she'll cast Shocking grasp, before mashing a poor spell casting khaasta to hell

Attack: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (8) + 29 = 37
Damage: 3d6 + 9 + 1d6 + 5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) + 9 + (5) + (4, 4, 1, 3, 4) = 44

Karrin finds the seven-foot-tall armored Khaasta. She slices at him, Ferissirion crackling with electrical energy.

BOOM!

The axe slice strikes true, and the khaasta bellows in fury as it's breastplate crackles and freezes simultanously.

The firey ray burns through the door easily, the smoke adding to the general smokiness of the room. The hatch door falls away in ashes revealing a small landing about six feet down. A small ladder connects the landing to the hatch door. A spiral stair winds down from the landing, terminating about 5 meters down in another open room. The room is filled with tropical plants in large pots. The air is very humid, close to 100% humidity. An unoccupied throne-like chair sits at the far end of the room, surrounded by a riot of blooming vegetation. Justin can even hear the buzz of insects among the large tropical plants. Issac: 17 [atk/miss(?)]

Karrin: 13 [atk/hit]

Phaumee and Tiandra also attack into the fog, hoping to assist Karrin

Atks:

Spoiler:
Tiandra: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 221d8 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 101d100 ⇒ 15
Phaumee:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 291d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d100 ⇒ 831d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Tiandra's attack is thwarted by the fog, but the rune-graven spear of the ratatosk ranger strikes true, adding to the large khaasta's misery.

Ekuur starts chanting, scroll in hand. His sibilant Ignan seems to clash with the hissing Khaasta inside the fog. At the end, the scroll immolates and silence cloaks the fog, but three forms appear in a puff of brimstone near Justin's lantern archon That thing still active?. Three of the same rubbery, slimy demons the party fought as they descended the mountainous center of the Outlands.

Nari and Drazek to go ..

"Have a nice afterlife!" Justin cries cheerfully over his shoulder.

"Stoopid cats, I hate familiars,..." he mutters/coughs as he hops through the charcoaled hatch to the small landing below. He drops easily to the landing, the magic of his boots not even needed for such an easy drop. he lands in a crouch, and quickly looks around the chamber he is in,...

Justin looks around, raising an eyebrow at the unoccupied throne. He looks around for signs of the exit. Or any one in the room that might take offense to his bursting in like this. Or anyTHING that might take offense at him in general.

Per roll:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Ok. the dice roller is back to hating me again. Do I at least see a door? :(

Justin doesn't get to scan the entire room before he is distracted by the sounds of yet another explosion from above.

"Aww,... THAT one is not my fault!" He declares to whomever might be listening. Glancing over the rail he finds a spot that isn't directly over a plant, ignores the staircase, and vaults the rail instead. He flails for a moment in open air, but the magic of his boots kicks in at the last moment. The mage lands on his feet in a crouch, the perfect landing absorbing the force of the fall. He quickly takes another look around, trying to find the exit, and make sure he's not standing in a giant flytrap or something equally silly.

"Although with the way my luck's been holding lately,..." he grumbles as he looks around.

Since Justin was blinded by the cabbage, he didn't see the two hidden giant lizards in the foliage ..

Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Yep. It's official. The dice roller hates me.

Justin is so distracted by the fire above, the battle below, and the greenery around him, that he doesn't even realize the lizards are attacking him until they are practically chewing on him!

"AGH! Whutthe?! Back off! DOWN you over-aggressive set of matched luggage!" He shouts, backpedaling.

The lizards circle the fire casting wizard, snapping their oh-so-toothy jaws at him. Justin is distracted by the ornate jeweled collars these two refugees from the Jurassic are wearing

Owww. Crit confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 141d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

The two lizards manage to chomp Justin. The sharp teeth rip into him and he begins to feel a little desperate.

Well,... Snap! :( THIS might hurt a bit,... ;P

The coat absorbs 1 pt of dmg from each hit (You ARE going against his AC of 19 w/ Mage Armor & Ring of FF, I hope!?!? [AC:21 vs Evil]) :) So total HP is down to 21 if I did the math right. Getting dicey! Time to get clever! (Gulp!)

Justin howls in pain as the dinos-in-training snap at his legs. His mystic shield, ring and crystal pinned to the lapel of his coat all flash with mystic energies as they try to divert the attacks, barely preventing the most persistent of the lizards from latching on and removing Justin's leg at the knee!

'OhCrapOhCrapOhCrap!'

The mage stumbles backwards, limping on bleeding legs, and eyes the distance to the stairwell. His long fingers move almost too fast to see and he spreads his fingers into a fan.

"Suck on THIS you T-Rex Wannabe's!" he growls as the spell goes off, and a blinding, flashing, glittering spray of golden dust covers the reptiles.

5' step back, Cast Glitterdust! Will Save DC:16 or blinded! HAH! ;P

HAH! ;P

<Crosses Fingers>

Will saves: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Both large lizards now match their jeweled collars for glittery sparkling. One hisses and looks confused, the other snarls at Justin. They both attack.

OK. I am ditching the flank bonus, because you can't set up a good flank if you are blind. The blinded one also gets a 50% chance to miss you (as per rules)

Non Blinded:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Blinded: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 171d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d100 ⇒ 26

Neither lizard manages to get a hunk of Justin this round.

Your turn again, O purveyor of arcane ignition...

female elan Psion (Kineticist) 10

She grimaced as she mentally went through her options. Not being able to see her opponents was becoming a problem. She pulls back her bow, readying herself to fire at the first living khaasta she was able to catch a glimpse of.

Bribes always welcome

ROUND SIX ACTIONS:

Khaasta/Dretches 18 [attacking]
Mr. Swire: 18 [full move to J9]
Issac: 17 [atk/miss(?)]
Merle: 14 [move to C11-Burn H]
Karrin: 13 [atk/hit]
Justin: 13 [elsewhere]
Drazek: 13 [beam]
Tiandra: 13 [atk/miss]
Naridre: 13 [holding action]
Phaumee: 13 [atk/crit]
Bethany: 13 [Bardsong-+1 ATK/DAM/CHARM/FEAR]
Ekuur: 10 [silence scroll]

OK, gonna DMPC the laggards ..

Drazek shoots another eldritch beam in to fog, hoping to kill something

EB: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 205d6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 6, 4) + 1 = 211d100 ⇒ 16

The beam doesn't elicit any sound from the fog.

Swire runs into the room

Call it a full move to assist the others. I still have Nari and Ekuur in the doorway.

ROUND SEVEN!

The three summoned demons slobber and howl, advancing on the engaged party. A familiar wave of extreme stench rolls off the three hideous forms

All those in the green circles (see new map) I need a DC 13 Fort save or you will become >nauseated<.

The bleeding khaasta warrior hacks a bit

Fort Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

..And tees up of the tiefling duskblade. It seems to be moving at a preternaturally fast pace.

Attacks:

Spoiler:
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 321d10 + 17 ⇒ (7) + 17 = 241d100 ⇒ 541d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 191d10 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 231d100 ⇒ 31

The two slices hit Karrin with sickening force, wounding the young tiefling deeply

Do you have any temp bonuses to your AC Karrin? I am seeing 19 on the sheet, right?

Karrin senses a dim shape behind the warrior, but nothing comes of it

OK: Post them actions!! Dont forget DC 13 Fort Saves who needs to make them and if in the fog or attacking into the fog, I need a 1d100 with every attack. Also, don't forget the +1 ATK/DAM/CHARM/FEAR bonuses from Bethany's singing.

>UPDATED MAP<

OK. The green circles are the Dretches' Stinking Clouds. The 'S' circle is Ekuur's Silence spell. Call out grid coordinates you want to be in. Nari-you have some movement left in round Six if you wish to go somewhere before we post up all the Round Seven actions. Ekuur-your Silence spell was a full round casting time, so you will have to just take your normal round seven actions.

Misc junk:

Spoiler:
2d8 + 7 ⇒ (5, 1) + 7 = 13

Female catfolk sorceror 11

Merle pulls out a second scroll of burning hands and unleashes it (casting it so the cone starts on top of the Khassta outside the fog cloud and continues inside avoiding the rest of the party

Damage

1d4 ⇒ 4

Burning hands scroll are 4th level.

So since these are the left over scrolls from that caper it should actuall be 4d4 those scrolls did so will add the extra d4's here

1st scroll (this one is a little late so may want to just ignore it

3d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 1) = 7

2nd scroll

3d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) = 11

Reflex saves would be 13 for half I believe
