Chronicles of the Silver Rose Company

Game Master Patrick Curtin

This campaign is my attempt to play a canonical Planescape campaign using the updated Pathfinder ruleset. The game actually predates the release of Pathfinder, but we have managed to update as we have needed.

Silently head into the building for a closer loo.

Placeholder post! ;)

Justin wipes a wind-stung eye as Goldenwing circles the tower. He waits in anticipation for Bethany to fly from the tower, not sure how long the lizards will remain enthralled by the Harpies' song after she stops singing,...

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

Isaac also heads into the windowless building.
"Likely prisoners. Reckon they'd lann us the Chant on what teh expect in the lizards' Case.", he whispers.

Merle and Issac enter the building. As they thought, it is a holding pen for prisoners/slaves. Inside is an open floorplan-perhaps the building was once a storage barn of some sort. Various pens have been set up to cordon off the space, and a mixture of human, demihuman and humanoid prisoners sit dejectedly on filthy straw within them. They all wear ankle shackles, some of the burlier specimens are also chained to iron hoops sunk in the floor.

The smell is grotesque: A fusion of B.O., sh!t and rotting flesh. None of the prisoners looks to be in very good shape. A quick estimate of number would put them slightly north of 50 individuals.

Female catfolk sorceror 11

Merle winces as the smell of the place hits her

"Hold tight you lot we'll have you free soon"

She looks around for a set of keys as well as to see if any of the prisoners are the same species as her.

Perception

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Merle spots a hook on the wall that might have held a ring of keys, but the keys themselves seem to be missing. She spots one small catfolk female shackled in a far pen.

Several slaves moan and cry out at Merle's assertion

"Help us! ... Please! ... Mercy!"

Female catfolk sorceror 11

"Anyone know what happend to the keys?" Merle asks trying to keep the prisoners calm.

One of the shackled men calls out

"The Slavemaster took them off the hook when they shut us in here. I think it was when they discovered you were coming."

Female catfolk sorceror 11

Merle makes her way over to the female catfolk

Feline

Spoiler:
"I'm Merle, what is your name and how did you end up being here?

As she speaks to her she looks the girl's restraints over

Are her hands and legs shackled? and how so? any markings or such that Merle would recognise, Also how old does she seem to be?

Bribes always welcome

The young kitten looks up

Feline:

Spoiler:
::Greetings Merle. I am Pounce. I was hunting in Kirgala with my pride when I became lost. I accidentally triggered a portal and came upon a giant tree. The khaasta found me soon after and made me their slave. ::

Pounce's marks are unfamiliar. She seems to be close to ten years, almost an adloescent. Her accent seeems to indicate she came from a nomadic band of catfolk. Her legs are shackled at the ankles and she is locked in a pen. The girl kitten is one of the ugliest Merle has ever seen.

Female catfolk sorceror 11

Feline

Spoiler:
"Did the Khassta by any chance use a strange crystal rod on you

As she speaks Merle looks at the cell lock before casting an acid arrow spell on it. if she can get in and she can cast it without harming the girl Merle will cast it on her shackles as well.

male Catfolk

From beside Merle seph in humanoid form steps round meowing to keep her spirits up.

Feline

Spoiler:
"Dont worry my sister will have you free soon."

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

"Any o' ye sods know where the Slavemaster calls kip so's we can get that key and pen that berk in the deadbook? Or ye got the Dark on their beauty stealin' device?"

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 10

After seeing Isaac and Merle go in, and no signal or anything else from them, Ekuur begins approaching the windowless building. He'll walk in, and a look of disgust crosses his face as he sees whats inside. He'll look over the prisoners to assess their condition. Turning to Isaac and Merle, he says, "If you can get the manacles off of them, we can have them all gather nearby. I can then help heal their wounds."

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

"I could pick some o' them, cutter, but I'd reckon our efforts're better spent penning Slavemaster. Then we can free all o' ye poor sods."
Isaac's temporary antennae droop, his face a war of emotions: pity, disgust, anger.

Feline:

Spoiler:
::Aye. The Toilmaster's rod. It stole all the slave's beauty::

Merle's acid arrow hits the lock and begins to wear away the metal

It will take a while for the scid to burn through the big iron lock. You could do the short chain of Pounce's shackles, but it will also take a while to eat through.

Female catfolk sorceror 11

Merle is about to do the same to pounces shackle when she pauses for a moment and decides not to.

Feline

Spoiler:
"Any idea where the slavmaster would be?"

As she waits for the lock to melt Merle gets a couple of scrolls ready As a plan forms in her mind

*Isaac, Ekurr I think I have a plan."

female elan Psion (Kineticist) 10

Nari bites her lip as she watches the others head into the stable, casting an anxious glance upwards towards Justin and Bethany. The anger and hostility from the tower beats at her mind. From within as well as without. There was a large part of her that would like nothing better than to wipe these slavers out of existence. They didn't deserve to live. She sighed. She knew that deserving had nothing to do with it.
She stepped quietly into the stables behind the others just in time to hear Merle's statement. Her eyes take in the scene in front of her. She stops to comfort one of the more hysterical prisoners, reassuring the frightened woman as best she can, not flinching at all from the too familiar conditions in front of her.

"If your plan involves wiping these slavers out of existence, you can count me in as well," she says calmly.

OK: We have at the moment (and please correct me if I am wrong):
*

*

  • Justin: Airborne
  • Drazek, Bethany: On towertop
  • Swire,Tiandra,Karrin,Phaumee: By tower bottom
  • Ekuur, Issac, Nari, Merle,Seph: In slavepen

So, I think Craig is most likely having bandwidth issues. Mark, if you would run Bethany, I would appreciate it. Davi and Guy, you folks are with the two NPCs, please state any preference. Tiandra will likely start in on the tower door before long. Everyone in the slave pen you will have about 10 rounds before Pounce is free. There are approx. 60 slaves present: Some shackled, some in pens, some both. There is one building besides the tower unexplored: A long three-story jobbie with a lot of windows.

Tiandra frowns at the tall tower.

"I see no way except to stave the door in."

She looks up at Karrin's enhanced size

"Would you like to take a crack at it?"

Female catfolk sorceror 11

"Nari Could you tell the others to hold back for now please? Also could one of you check the last building see if it is occupied" Merle politely asks before turning back to pounce

Feline

Spoiler:
Me and my friends can free all of you and undo what the Khassta have done to you but I will need your help.

If she agrees Merle will outline to her and the others the plan hat is in the Of topic discusion

female elan Psion (Kineticist) 10

"Okay, Merle. I'll try," she said, getting up quickly and heading back outside.

"Karrin!" she called out as she stepped outside the stable, trying to get her friend's attention.

female Tiefling 12th level Duskblade

"Would I?" Karrin says looking to her axe, "I think we might be able to figure out how to get in here. We could approach this scientifically, through guile and cunning, but in my experience there's not too many problems that can't be solved with brute strength."

Ekuur looks to Isaac. "Would you care to join me in checking out the last building?" Whether Isaac goes or not, Ekuur heads towards the last building, trying to see if anything looks out the windows, and trying not to make too much noise.

Isaac will also take a quick look for tracks outside of the three story building.

Hearing the crunch noises coming from outside Merle lets out a sigh before turning back to pounce.

Did the Khassta tale any prisoners with them?

Issac and Ekuur head for the long building. As they do they hear a large splintering by the tower. It looks as if Karrin got impatient with waiting. They head up to the grounds in front of the building. There are many tracks in front of the building's double doors. The double doors are ajar slightly, and there are several indications that things were left in a hurry.

The last time we adjucated this, I think we agreed that Swire had it. But Davi is on hiatus, and if you'd like to cure Pounce, we can assume you have it on you.

Pounce wears just a dirty shift, her hair is matted and she smells ill groomed.

Yeah, she's not going to be in any shape to fight

"Use that it should fix whatever was done to you, me and the others are going to clean out the rest of the buildings and hopefully find all the lizards that did this but could you and Seph stay here and keep an eye on things as well as on our prisoner" I'm assuming Ekuur left him here before running off

OK, Issac, Ekuur, Nari and Merle are headed back to the tower. Karrin, Swire, Phaumee and Tiandra are already there. Seph is at the slavebarracks. It will take about 30 seconds (5 rounds) to run full speed to the tower.

Initiatives:

Khaasta 18
Mr. Swire: 18
Issac: 17 (5 round run)
Merle: 14 (5 round run)
Karrin: 13
Justin: 13 (flying-action needed)
Drazek: 13 (on tower-action needed)
Tiandra: 13
Naridre: 13 (5 round run)
Phaumee: 13
Bethany: 13 (singing-action needed)
Ekuur: 10 (5 round run)

The khaasta run at the entrance, trying to block it

OK, I will get a map up soonish. Apologies, it has been a busy weekend. State actions-I need to know what resolution we are going for on the rooftop. Justin, you have the air, and you could land if you wanted on the roof...or nuke it-your choice. Mark, feel free to DMPC Bethany, and if anyone feels like doing Swire I'd appreciate it
