Hello Everyone!

I'm a newb DM looking to start up the Carrion Crown adventure path with a group of 5 individuals. Currently, I have a RL group that is going through the campaign and is just finishing up Book 3.

I have found some extra time, and I want to get my feet wet with PBP DM'ing. This will be my first foray into PBP DM'ing, so any players who would like to play must be able to deal with any shortcomings I may have on my side. I'm willing to learn, and I ask for patience.

So with that out of the way, who's interested in playing a horror campaign? ;)

====================================
Character creation guidlines
- Looking for characters with good flavor for the setting. Please read through the free Carrion Crown (CC) player's guide. Try and get into the mood presented throughout. :)

- Although a horror game it is, I want a heroic feel to the campaign as well. So I'm hesitant to allow Evil alignments. However, if I see a character with some good flavor, I'll handwave that restriction.

- All character's must have had a relationship to Professor Lorrimor. This will be represented mechanically with a trait from the CC player's guide. Lorrimor was a respected or an admired figure in your character's life.

- I would like to see a brief personality description, and some background info. A paragraph for each will suffice, your legacy is going to be crafted from this adventure, so it doesn't have to be extensive :)

The Crunch
- Allowed books : Pathfinder Core rules, Advanced player's Guide, Ultimate Combat, Ultimate Magic, Carrion Crown Player's guide.
All character choices must come from these books, this includes feats, race selections, spells, items, classes etc.

- All players will start at level 1, with Max HP, and Maximum starting gold.

- 25 point buy.

- 2 traits, one of which must come from the CC player's guide.
===================================

Any questions or comments please do not hesitate, I'll make my choices for character's by Sunday, June 10th.

Any restriction on classes?

Hey,

I'm interested in joining. I will most likely be posting my build tonight. It's going to take me some time to do the research and make the right fit.

Thanks for the opportunity!

For your consideration
Cassandra Blackmoore Changeling Oracle of Life

An assault by an energy draining undead creature awoke dormant powers in Cassandra, frightening both herself, her parents, and her entire village until Professor Lorrimor came to interview her about her experience and laid those doubts and fears to rest.

She's currently based on a 20 point buy but I can increase that if selected.

Dark Archive

I am interested. I will look over the guide and get back with a concept.

Thinking either a Human Cleric of Pharasma, or maybe one of the Gothic Heroes pregens from Legendary Games...

Void Munchkin wrote:

As long as the class (and it's archetypes) are within the allowed books. Go nuts :)

Thanks for the Submission Cassandra. And to the others I await expectantly as well. :)

Human Summoner, dipping later.

How do you handle multi-classing, just choose or have to substantiate with RP/opportunity?

Thanks!

Never played Carrion Crown.
Need to download players guide and see what I can come up with.

what is the deadline?

Here is my character with a simple back story i've armed to fit the campaign. I will flesh out the character build very soon. Any initial reactions would be great, to help me align him enough to the campaign so that he fits.

Here is a basic build/idea:

I'm super excited to give this campaign a try and feel like this character fits in well with Carrion Crown's concept. I'm going to submit him now and adjust a few things in the next day or so. Thanks for your consideration!

Hi Atomos,

I have been looking for a Carrion Crown game to give Maya a try. Current stat block on her profile reflects a 20 point buy, but otherwise I'd leave her the same. Her back story:

Maya earned the name of "The Edge" some years ago while working for the Sczarni in Ustlav. She joined the organization at a young age, rising in the ranks and going to the jobs no-one would take. That is at least until some years ago.

The Sczarni wanted Maya to steal an eccentric item from a house. However, the client was not a patient fellow, and had hired multiple guilds to steal the artifact at the same time. When she arrived at the scene, three thieves had already entered the house and were all attempting to retrieve their mark viciously. Maya was able to sneak past the commotion, and found the artifact before the rest of the infiltrators. Sadly, the escape was not as easy.

The last surviving thieves, noticing Maya's entry into the vaults, had teamed up together to kill her in order to stop "that woman" from leaving with the relic. Maya knew that there was no way around a fight, but she came prepared. With her short sword and dagger, she was able to cut through these thieves with relative ease. They didn't call her "the edge" for no reason...

Blood splattered the floors outside the vaults. Maya took them both out, but not without suffering pretty heavy wounds herself. Cleaning her face up, she noticed a note in one of the thief's hands. Not a note... but a contract. A contract for Maya's head, and it was commissioned by her own guild! One of the Sczarni higher-ups was trying to get her out of the way...

Before she could make more sense about what she just discovered, a door flung open revealing an older gentleman. He had a surprise look on his face, as he realized what had transpired in his house. Maya had no will left to dispose of this man, and was not paid to do so. She is no senseless assassin. The man stepped into the room, stood pensive for a moment and simply said: "My, looks like you need some help. May I provide you with some?" Maya knew that in these parts, help usually came with a price. He introduced himself as Professor Lorrimor, and he offered Maya not just assistance, but the offer of hiring her for her services in the future.

Over the years, the professor paid handsomely for these "private contracts," and Maya was able to use her free time to discover more information on why the Sczarni wanted to off her. Nothing would stop Maya from learning the truth behind her betrayal. But she recently got a message from her old patron. Or at least, his estate. She was to present herself to his house for the reading of his will, where her name was mentioned...

Thanks for the consideration!

Here is my background for an Inquisitor(Heretic) of Zon_Kuthon

Venrich Weis:
Venrich served as a royal torturer for the Umbral Court. He had a nack for discerning a truth or forcing it out of his victims. Professor Lorrimor had the misfortune of finding himself in a Nidal dungeon once. Venrich found that the Professor was no threat and was telling the truth about his visit to Nidal, and though it was not popular to release prisoners once captured, Venrich convinced the jailer to allow him to return home. Later it was proven that the Professor did have a friend amongst some Desna worshipers. Venrich's political rivals used this situation to invent a conspiracy involving Venrich and the Professor in a plot against the Umbral Court so that they may take his position in the court. Branded a Heretic, Venrich accepts the oppertunity to travel abroad and accept the invitation to the Professor's funeral.

@ Hassan Ahmed - I'm not opposed to multi-classing at all. However I would like some RP'ing or explanation depending on how drastic the change is.

I like to give level ups upon a rest. So if you're a Rogue taking a rest in a dungeon. Who takes a level in fighter, sure I wouldn't blink. But if you're a Barbarian who wants to take a level of Alchemist. Where did you get your potion/bomb materials, or your Alchemy Book etc. ?

Essentially, it comes down to both of us knowing ahead of time, I'll accomadate however I can really. I might want to throw in a little mini-sidequest or some such for everyone to get involved in. :)

@ Edward Sobel - I will announce what characters get accepted by June 10th. Looking forward to your submission !

@ Milo "Goodfellow" Tosscobble - Thanks for the submission! I'll get some feedback to you tomorrow, getting tired and reading kinda sucks for me right now :p

@Void Munchkin and Aeric Aegisbane- Give me a heads up when you change things while you update, I don't wanna miss it by accident.

Done, full build is posted under Milo "Goodfellow" Tosscobble.

Thanks for your consideration!

I'd like to add Mubutu, Male Half-Orc Witch Doctor of the Mwangi Jungles. He's a healing witch, so sort of a cross between arcane and divine roles.

D-Bob here, Sandor Grost, Priest of Pharasma. Do you want a complete character sheet, or is the gist good for now?

DM Atmos:

I have an idea using this 3PP class all the details are inside so please give it a read and tell me what you think.

I have been eager to try out a Carrion Crown game for quite some time with Dantrian Almaeus. He's built with a 20 point buy, but if picked up it'd be an easy tweak to just adjust his ability scores. Thanks for your time and consideration!

A horse-drawn carriage pulls up and stops on the road outside the Ravengro cemetery. A distinguishedly dressed and cloaked gentleman - hood pulled up and obscuring his features - exits the carriage and turns to tip the driver. Transaction completed, the gentleman respectfully nods to the driver as the carriage pulls away.

The gentleman turns and approaches the group of people gathered at the gate leading into the cemetery, an intricately carved walking stick tap-tap-tapping on the cobblestones as he walks. Beneath the cloak it is obvious that the gentleman is impeccably dressed in a finely tailored long jacket, wool vest, soft leather breeches, and spotless white linen shirt with a smartly knotted silk cravat.

"Oh dear. I hope I'm not too late!" the gentleman exclaims - albeit in a subdued bass tone - as he retrieves a silk handkerchief from a vest pocket and coughs softly into it while quickly taking stock of each person gathered. "I'm afraid this weather is not beneficial to my constitution," he adds as he replaces the handkerchief in his pocket.

"But forgive me. You all must be fellow friends of the good Professor," the gentleman says, lowering his hood to unexpectedly reveal the bestial face of a male half-orc with a delicate pair of pince nez incongruously perched upon his nose and a handsome bowler capping his head. "My name is Korvus Slade, a former student of the Professor's from Magnimar," the half-orc introduces himself, doffing his hat and bowing his head respectfully.

Good day! This is my submission, Korvus Slade, half-orc wizard (conjurer). Thanks for your consideration!

Here's my concept for a human paladin, most of the crunch is in the profile.

Description:

Gustav is a tall lean man, to the point of gauntness. He has sunken cheeks and deep set eyes that have the haunted look of a man who has seen too much. A line of 3 parallel scars runs along one side of his face and he is missing a part of his left ear. His sinister air is dampened by his ready smile and easy laugh. He is a man who has tested himself against the horrors of the whispering tyrant and survived with his soul untarnished.

History:

Gustav was raised in the Pharasmian church and though he never took to their neutral stance on life, he readily accepted their abhorrence of the undead. As a man, he has dedicated his life to the eradication of the undead menace that plagues Ustalav. On one of his sweeps he came across a scholarly gentleman that had been treed by pack of zombies. He quickly dispatched the beasts and helped the man down. Gustav took the time to escort the thankful man, one Professor Lorrimor who had apparently been poking about some ruins, back to civilization, before continuing on his way. It was much to his surprise when he heard of Professor Lorrimor's passing and his summons to the his funeral.

I'm interested; trying to come up with a character.

Applying with an elven magus with the bladebound and kensai archetypes. Crunch is under this character's profile.

They say warriors are made, not born, but in the case of Cristiel it would probably be a combination of both. Her heritage includes the blood of heroes and soldiers who have laid down their lives in defense of Kyonin with both her parents being members of elite military units directly under the Queen's directive. While most elven children are allowed a long youth of games and entertainment, Cristiel was taken from the moment she could listen to instructions and placed under the top teachers and warriors that could be found. Shaped more akin to a sword being forged than a child allowed to grow, Cristiel was crafted into a living weapon for Kyonin’s defense.

Along with similarly selected elven children, she was placed into a unit called the Desh'miriai, the Guardians of Kyonin. By the time they were the equivalent age of human teenagers, Cristiel was leading patrols into Tanglebriar and wetting her blade with the blood of demonic foes. With the coming of adulthood, she was placed in charge of a small elite group of warriors, one of a dozen cells that were to patrol the nations bordering Lake Encarthan for any dangers that might be posed to Kyonin.

It was during a secret operation in Razmiran to hamstring a militant sect of the Living God’s faithful that Cristiel first encountered the Professor. He had gotten entangled in the wrong end of the sect’s business while researching in Razmiran and was inadvertently rescued by Cristiel’s sting against the zealots. She met his acquaintance a few more times over the years, generally coming in contact when the good natured Professor was neck deep in the mire. So when she received the invitation to attend his funeral and reading of the will, she was somewhat intrigued by what the old man had to say from beyond the Boneyard.

Here is a character I just whipped up even if not accepted I thought the idea was kind of cool (in my own warped way of thinking)

Kimberly Snow:

Kimberly Snow, or at least that is the name she likes to be called, never knew where she came from. In her earliest memories she wandered the misty moors lost in a daze. Her only comfort was the voice she would hear in her head.

Believing it her doll that she carried she began to converse with it. She remembers meeting gypsies that took her in and fed her and clothed her. It was the gypsies that gave Kimberly her name.

Kimberly remained a recluse many times talking to herself, or to her doll. This made the gypsies uneasy, and they left Kimberly with the church of Pharasma in Ravengro.

Kimberly would always find a place to sleep and food to eat with the church of Pharasma, never realizing the power she held inside.

Kimberly would often walk the streets of the small town watching the people go about their business, even found herself the butt of pranks or snide remarks from other children; but Kimberly was always comforted by her “friend”, and her doll.

Even her “friend” would play jokes with Kimberly, moving objects from where she put them last, sometimes playing jokes on the other kids and leaving Kimberly to take the blame. But despite all this, the spirit was her friend.

During an evening wandering the town Kimberly saw a man heading by the cemetery, she noticed that he forgot to make the sign before passing. This did not bode well. There was something about him, and Kimberly followed.

Soon creatures from beyond the grave attacked the man, clawing and biting into his flesh. The horror of what was happening shocked her and she screamed. She wanted to flee but she heard the voice of her friend once more urging her to go to the man.

Unsure what to do she obeyed her friend and ran to him. In such a confused state she also forgot to make the sign and when she reached him, the monsters went after her as well. Kimberly quickly remembered what she had forgotten to do. Quickly she stood over the battered man and made the sign over her heart.

It was at that moment a wave of divine energy emanated from her driving back the monsters. At this time Kimberly’s “friend” revealed itself as a spirit of Pharasma, and declared Kimberly her oracle. Kimberly saved the man’s life that night; a deed that she never thought about again… until now.

Kimberly was born from the mists of the Southwest of Canterwall. The villages consumed and left desolate reside there. All of her life, before finding the gypsies was gone from her, or perhaps they never existed.

The “sign” mentioned represents the old superstition of making the sign of Pharasma “A spiral shape with the finger” across your heart before passing or entering the cemetery.

Kimberly knows several of the other children in town but she would not be considered “friends’ with them since she is recluse and seldom conversed with them, but she would know them by name and some she would know where they lived.

The man rescued was of course Professor Lorrimor the events of that night was within a year of the funeral. During that time Kimberly spent more time at the church. 1] Because she was scared from what happened and what her “friend” told her. 2] To secretly practice her new talents guided by her “friend”

Kimberly’s “Friend” is really just fluff and has no game mechanic other than serving as an explanation for the Haunted curse. To those that don’t know any better, Kimberly could be considered to have Schizophrenia.

Question to the DM::

Since I planned on taking the Young Template which will effectively reduce my character CR (and since it can work with the character story) Kimberly carries her Doll everywhere which is actually a Soulbound Doll with the soul of her birth mother (which Kimberly will most likely never realize as long as Pharasma wishes). Since the Soulbound doll is a CR 2 creature I would consider removing all of the dolls spell-like abilities except the one granted from the NG alignment (Heroism 1/day) if that would bring the power level more in line with where it should be. – If she would be able to have the doll then to amend the story above the doll would, at times, while Kimberly was asleep, go out and pull pranks on the children that teased her that day. This was not a common occurrence but would have happened at least once or twice.

Hey guys! Just checking in and I like What I'm seeing. I have compiled a list of character names that have been submitted. I'll post it here so people can give me a shout out to see if I missed anyone.

Maya "The Edge" Palersin

Venrich Weis -

Mubutu

Sandor Grost

Korvus Slade

Dantrian Almaeus

Gustav Harrowblade

Cristiel Pallanen

Kimberly Snow -

==========================================

As I post in this thread throughout the week, I will keep posting this list, and under each name I will give feedback to each character, it will make things easier for me to handle to keep things in one place. :)

Thank you all for your submissions! This is making me want to play even more! :D

Also, any questions on how I run things or reccomendations to a new PBP DM would be great.

How do people feel about hero points?

@ Marcus Liore - Hello Marcus, I looked over your character sheet and while I don't see anything being a problem, I'm going to stand firm on my stance of keeping things within the books I have laid out in the OP. This is more to to me being a new DM in regards to PBP, and to all things PBP in general. But I thank you for showing an interest in this campaign.

Hero Points are a good incentive I think, I am not sure how you plan on implementing them, but I have used them in the past and thought they were decent. Here is Venrich's Profil I have him all done on Herolab just have not put it on profile just yet.

3 recommendations for PbPing:

1) In my experience, xp tracking in pbps can get outrageously confusing if handled individually. I've found it much easier if the GM tracks the xp or just outright forgoes xp entirely and simply declares "You Level!" whenever it would be appropriate for the story/plot.

2) A party treasure sheet is also generally pretty helpful. Whether it be a shared google doc or separate thread on the boards (I prefer a separate thread since file sharing sites are blocked by many office firewalls) makes it much easier to divvy up the spoils of adventuring. Saves you from having to pour back through 300 posts trying to figure out "Did we get 500 gp or 500 sp from that one fight and how did it get split?"

3) If you do maps, whether it be a simple spreadsheet with box-shaped cells or if you get all wizardy and use maptools or something similar, having a coordinate system along the x and y axes is super helpful. Compare: "I move to the square in front of the goblin and attack!" to "I move from H4 to C5 and attack!" It's much more precise, and whatever you can do to cut down on confusion helps a pbp run more smoothly.

Here's Oorin: a Gnome Wizard (Fire Elementalist). Everything's under the profile. If there's an area you'd like expanded then please let me know.

I've never used Hero Points and don't know the AP enough to guess how it would fit.

Dal brings up good points. One other thing I've seen come up before is how to handle intiative. Many GM's run it as normal but this can slow things down as people are waiting for one person to post. Others have done group initiative which means less waiting around but some people don't like the simplification.

Here's some more detail on the submissions so far.

So, no Gunslinger?

I would like to offer my Undine Cleric of Gorzeh, but for most he is a talented actor. *bows*

This is a character I created for a Carrion Crown recruitment thread. He was made with a 20 point buy but I will adjust his stats if he is chosen.

Good Luck to you all

Gustav is a human. "cough" I my have copied my stat format from a previous character concept. It still needs a little tidying up.

First batch of feedbacking for you guys. I wrote this up real quick so if there are any grievous spelling errors. Please, forgive me! :O

=================
Cassandra Blackmoore, Changling Oracle (Life)

Feedback:
Besides the lower point-buy, I see nothing wrong mechanically with your character. However, and I know it's a nitpick, the superstitious Ward trait is from the inner sea primer. Otherwise I'll accept the Char-sheet as is.

A question though; Does Cassandra know about her Hag mother? And that eventually the Hag may seek her out?

Also, I'm assuming you are going a caster focus in respect to combat, What mix of spells did you plan on aqcuiring?

Milo "Goodfellow" Tosscobble, Halfling Bard (Detective)

Feedback:
Does Milo feel any resentment towards his previous "owners"? What sort of life did he want to achieve once he got out of the circus? Otherwise, pretty solid.

Maya "The Edge" Palersin, Half-elf Rogue

Feedback:
I like it. A couple of notes. How does Maya see Lorrimor after the encounter at his house? What kind of man does Maya see Lorrimor as? Any emotional connection due to the unheeded kindness?

Also, On your melee stat-block, You seem to have a full attack with 3 attacks. 2 mainhand and 1 off-hand.

Venrich Weis, Human Inquisitor (Heretic)

Feedback:
Interesting concept, I'd like some more fleshing out of the relationship between Venrich and Lorrimor. His demise should be somewhat of a motivator for you in this adventure.

Mubutu, Half-Orc Witch

Feedback:
I like the whole jungle/witch doctor feel. Any expansion on that would be great. Right now, I see the Witch Doctor from Diablo 3 honestly. Is it a different religion? spirits of ancestors/Animals/mojo? (I also expect that you plan to use the Profession in place of the heal skill? The answer would be yes. ) Also, knowing that he is in a strange land, and customs are very likely wildely different, what does Mubutu do to cope?

Sandor Grost, Human Cleric of Pharasma.

Feedback:
Looks good, does Sandor recognize the difference between the standard undead, and spirits who are tormented on this plane due to the atrocities they faced in life? Does his hatred require the obliteration of all undead? Or would he help a tormented soul reach the Boneyard to get dealt the judgement they deserve?

Korvus Slade, Half-Orc Wizard specialist (Conjuration/teleportation)

Feedback:
Got little to say, crunch looks good. Shift seems to be all kinds of awesome (I'm gonna remember that for a Wizard I'll eventually make. ;) ) If you could, what kind of door did Lorrimor open for you? How did he go about nurturing the gift of magic in you?

Dantrian Almaeus, Human Alchemist (Beastmorph)

Feedback:
Very good. Has Dantrian ever sought other peoples help with his Lycanthropy?

Gustav Harrowblade, Human Paladin of Pharasma

Feedback:
I would like some more elaboration on his concepts of Undead, and what to do with them. there is a lot of undead in this campaign, and a kill em all mentality doesn't seem to jive. There are plenty of undead who are a victime of happenstance, and I think viewing warped spirits in Disdain at all times sort of loses the bit of the flavor in a horror setting.

Cristiel Pallanen, Elven Magus (BlackBlade, Kensai)

Feedback:
Seems fine to me. How did you want your Blackblade to come about? Also, if by the end of the week you are chosen, remind me to have a discussion on Spell-combat and Spell-strike. Especially concerning Chill-touch. In my table game I used to have a Magus as well, and their seemed to be a lot of confusion on both sides. But I got it worked through though :)

Kimberly Snow, Human Oracle(Life?)

Feedback:
Good stuff. Although I would like a little overview of how Lorrimor would be important to you. Aasimar to human though.

Oorin, Gnome Wizard Elementalist (Fire)

Feedback:
I believe you should only start with six first level spells. 3(base)+ 3(Int). Although I didn't look up Fire elemtalist yet, so if I'm wrong discard this :p

I would like a little more elaboration about how Lorrimor influenced Oorin, and why he has stayed important to him. Mainly, what set off in Oorin's mnd that made him thnk that the Professor was a good man.

Alex, Human Gunslinger

Feedback:
Stat-block looks fine, but I'll need a little backstory though.

Zandu "The Typhoon Lord" Tiraith, Undine Cleric of Gozreth

Feedback:
I assume he is wearing a Breastplate? Also, I know it would drastically change the character, but Undine isn't from the listed sources. I want to keep to things I know reasonably well. And although I like your backstory, I need to keep to the rules I set out on this campaign with.

================

I have some questions, if I were to be an easily accesible online map-tool, where would I be? At first I thought I'd go the whole theatre of the mind routine. Which I'm not opposed to. But if I got a group who would prefer to have maps out for combat, where would I go to find one?

Remember guys, I won't make any final decisions until the 10th. So keep it coming, I like seeing all these character ideas in one place :)

Dark Archive

Dotting. Very interested. Will work up something. Maybe submit this character or a rogue.

And here is my submission.

Mubutu plot elements

Spoiler:
I have jacked his profession skill to give a in-game-rule-mechanism to represtent certain religious or cultural things that would fall into his trained knowledge. Witches do not have religion as a class skill, and I felt he needed it, for example a witch doctor can not turn undead, but I feel he'd understand the idea of haunting, possession, and exorcism, even if not able to do it. I DM heavily and often encourage or force players to use the profession skill to represent crucial game elements. For example profession midwife can be used to tell if a woman is pregnent, or profession cook to improve party morale. I also see him as a capable healer and so gave him that skill as well. He had to have the cauldron hex, as I see him making a big pot of voodoo stew.
-I see him as a pantheist, in a world of spirits, some good, some bad, some neutral. He doesn't concern himself with giving them names. He is not a spirit shaman, and so doesn't have the tie to nature that a druid would have. Mostly he is believes that illness is caused by bad spirits, which can be clensed from the body, either by spells or potions.
-As noted he carries a drum, and has a very high intimidate check. This represents his savage dance, in which he leaps around the fire, playing the drum and yelling. Most people leave him alone when they see it
-I'm trying for a more voodoo feel than anything else, similar to trolls in WorldofWarcraft. I have no idea about Diabolo 3. Funny. Never played Diabolo 1 or 2.
-To be honest, Mubutu isn't really happy to be here. He is the noble savage, and feels a debt of honor to the professor, but he'd rather be home. Also he is quite friendless here, and will doubtless cling to the party as he needs friends.
-Lastly I made a mistake, and he is CG, not CN. Did I write that anywhere?
-Lastly Mubutu doesn't see undead as alive, but as a corpse that is possessed by an evil(usually) spirit. Sometimes the best way to free the spirit is to destory the corpse which carries the spirit but not always. This is a problem because as zombies are animated by magic, Mubutu may feel that the zombie will 'come back' if another spirit enters the body. Thus meaningless in game terms, but very important in Mubutu's mind are the various rituals so a corpse can be laid to rest. For example, the savage Orcs of his tribe practice head hunting. This means that undead are rare, as headless undead are not too common. Mubutu will often decapitate foes so that their 'spirit' can escape. A vampire or Lich would confuse Mubutu no end, and he'd try to tell the 'spirit' to leave the vampire.

I have some questions, if I were to be an easily accesible online map-tool, where would I be? At first I thought I'd go the whole theatre of the mind routine. Which I'm not opposed to. But if I got a group who would prefer to have maps out for combat, where would I go to find one?

Depends on how fancy you want your maps to be. I've done pbps that just use a google doc spreadsheet for the maps and I've seen a lot of dms utilize Maptools and then upload the map to an image hosting site like photobucket or flickr. I've never had the patience to sit down with it myself, as there is a bit of a learning curve with it.

RE: Dantrian:

No, he's not really sought anyone else out. His self image couldn't take the inevitable rejection he is certain anyone would respond with. He only approached the professor initially out of total desperation, though with the professor's death, desperation may have him begin to look for another expert who might be able to help. Dantrian wouldn't be optimistic though - Lorrimor was a rare bird.

That being said, having a group of people stick with him despite the worsening of his "condition" and his sometimes abrasive, snobbish attitude would be a HUGE development for him. To have people remain loyal and faithful to him in light of all that - it'd rock his worldview pretty hard.

Thanks again for the time you're putting into reviewing all these submissions! (From the looks of it, you'll have your work cut out for you narrowing it down to just 5!)

First batch of feedbacking for you guys. I wrote this up real quick so if there are any grievous spelling errors. Please, forgive me! :O

Cristiel Pallanen, Elven Magus (BlackBlade, Kensai)

Feedback:

Spoiler:
Seems fine to me. How did you want your Blackblade to come about? Also, if by the end of the week you are chosen, remind me to have a discussion on Spell-combat and Spell-strike. Especially concerning Chill-touch. In my table game I used to have a Magus as well, and their seemed to be a lot of confusion on both sides. But I got it worked through though :)

First time playing a Magus so it'll be a possible learning experience already.

Feedback Reply:

Spoiler:
Not sure just yet on the Blackblade. I guess perhaps as something left in the Professor's will that takes a while to figure out how to open. Like a puzzle box/case, with Cristiel finally figuring it out and it awakening around the time she'd hit 3rd level.

DM Atmos:

Do you want me to switch out the trait? Because that's not a problem. I think that this my third attempt to get Cassandra in a game that doesn't eventually die out. The last one didn't even make it past the first post from the GM.

Cassandra knows about her heritage as explained to her by the Professor but has never met her Hag mother. As to whether her mother should choose to track her down and reclaim her would be an excellent side adventure for later in the game.

I see her mainly in a support/buffer role. Her initial spells are as follows:
Spells:
0 level
Guidance
Read Magic
Resistance
Stabilize

1st level
Bless
Cure light wounds
Shield of Faith

I see her continuing along the same path (Heal/Buff) for her career, as she's not much on the combat side of things. I also see her as someone who is still learning how to control her "gift" as she progresses, which is why I didn't take Selective Channel as her 1st level feat. I was saving that for 3rd level to represent her learning more about her abilities.

Re:Feedback

Good point. I think I'll just tweak his backstory a little bit.

He is a bastion of good. Defender of the weak. Healer of the sick and, of course, smiter of the wicked.

Hi, Im submitting Nahal for consideration. Background, looks, and behavior on the profile. Character sheet may need tweaks (it was rushed), but should be enough to give you an idea of what she can do.

Silver Crusade

Application for Hannya Jubei, Undead Scourge [Paladin Archtype]

Spoiler:
Jubei has always been notorious among the Hannya clan's many youths as a bratty rebel. His misdemeanours would be usually brushed off with a slap on the wrist if he were a part of a normal Elven family in Jinin... which the strictly disciplined Ninja clan isn't. On his 24th birthday, after being reprimanded for applying magical glue on the guard of his big brother's sheathed sword, Jubei ran away from the clan's lands and boarded a boat headed for Cheliax.

Jubei had always been fascinated with tales of the horrible Hellknights of the foreign land and thought it would be a good idead to join their ranks and then come back home to scare the family. It was too late for him when he realised the folly of his childish impulse.

Thanks to his ninja training and his newfound devoted faith to the deity Shizuru, he was able to barely make it as an Armiger of a minor Hellknight Order, The Order of the Pike by his 5th year in Cheliax. On his first day as a fledgling Hellknight, he was sent to the vile nation of Geb along with a squad of fellow Armigers for a retrieval mission. A mission that went horribly wrong.

Jubei's squad was eradicated by ghouls, ghasts and a pair of devourers in a night ambush. Thanks to a miraculous grace of Shizuru and the sacrifice one true friend in his squad, he was able to escape back into Cheliax bloody and mourning. His commanding officer, much to his dismay, concluded that Jubei survived the failed mission because he abandoned his comrades. After being unjustly slandered and further punished in the form of lashing by his superiors, he was tasked to leave the country and seek out powerful undead to vanquish as "repentance" for his "cowardice".

Jubei could have taken this opportunity to escape and return home to the Hannya clan, but the horrors he's seen- both of Cheliax and Geb- has filled him with hatred and resolve that he must simply take out on the Undead.

Ok, other than mundane adventuring gear, I think Gustav is done. Updated background in his profile.

Updated

Finished the basic crunch, now to apparence and background.

Partial inspiration.

regarding feedback:
I would like to think that Maya and The professor got close enough in their relationship to go a bit beyond "business partners". I would see Lorrimor seeing her somewhat as a student, trying to help her behind on the background on why the Sczarni want her dead. Maya sees Lorrimor as somewhat of a father figure, although she would never admit to it to anyone. He has been the only person in Ustlav that has offered to help her so far without having a secondary motive for her.

The melee stat block was clarified. She owns three Short Swords, two regular and one silver. She has one main hand and one off hand attack. Silver short sword is a backup weapon. (HeroLabs likes to put it there anyway).

1. I had a good write up of the reply to the feedback and BOOM internet explorer crashes.

2. Will try again here but I can only hope that I can remember all what I wrote to the quality that I originally worded it?

about the character crunch:

Yes – Kimberly is an Oracle of Life later she may multi-class as a cleric (Merciful Healer)

I will change the race to human as I already said I would do (unfortunately can’t at work so will work it out at home).

As of right now I kept the Young Template on the character as the only effect is to get -4 STR, -4 CON, and +4 DEX, also move to size small. This is a net adjustment of -4 to stats when adding in the human +2 bonus the end result is -2 overall.

I realize the reduction in supposed effectiveness but I am going for more of a flavor instead of the usual ‘I’m really powerful and kill lots of bad guys’

Also not sure on your thoughts on the Soulbound doll aspect -- as of now it is not included in the crunch

background feedback:

Connection to Professor Lorrimor:

Before the incident at the cemetery the professor would have noticed Kimberly around town and started to think how she would be an interesting case study. He only knew she resided at the church and almost nothing else about her past. Perhaps her mental condition could be a key to unlocking other secrets.

Either way he knew that Kimberly would be a willing participant in his studies so he needed to devise was he could control the environment around her and observe her reactions.

This field work went on for several days as the professor would lure Kimberly into certain areas of the town and surrounding areas where he would have pre-arranged situations. There he would observe and document his observations of how she responded to the situations.

This came to ahead at the cemetery where the professor was not expecting the attack that occurred. His original plan was to observe her reaction when confronted with the concept of mortality (of life and death), however the undead there had other plans.

After the incident Professor Lorrimor became more intrigued at the idea that Kimberly was able to harness such divine energy at such a young age and with no formal training.

After the incident Professor Lorrimor continued his observations at the church and soon was able to talk with Kimberly on several occasions though she still remained a bit reclusive, she did open up a bit. Professor Lorrimor was able to deduce that she was subconsciously blocking a traumatic event in her past. He made it a point that he needed to unlock that event so Kimberly could come to terms with it.

He was so intrigued by her condition he decided that should he pass before his work was complete he made provisions in his will that Kimberly spend time with his daughter at his home during while mourning in the hopes that she would provide a good home for Kimberly.

the traumatic events of her past were left undefined at this time to allow the events of the AP reveal them to her as they unfold. And look at the AP two fold:

1)The standard goal of the AP to defeat some evil force
2)An adventure to cure Kimberly’s psyche. (a personal goal)
