Dingus Mack |

Dingus will definitely go for a short term madness.
1d20 ⇒ 4 Table of Loony roll.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 First will save.
And it looks like he might be ashamed of his behavior rather quickly.

Dibbets |

Dibbets kind of means what he says in thread - even if he's the only sane one at the moment...
He is intensely and completely uncomfortable with the fact that:
1) We're at the complete mercy of a figure that's openly tried to curse him previously
2) His closest friend and ally within the party is not himself any more
I'm kind of stuck as a player as well... we've kind of been pushed into a corner of 'either follow this incredibly stupid path into your own ruin' or... well... or die in the jungle...

James "Madman Jim" Patterson |

Yeah, Jim's with Dibbets on this one, even though he can't see how this is going to end well either way.
BTW, Cap'n, I don't have the insanity table immediately to hand. Want to roll for me? Seems as though you're better off in the long term spending IP on various manias, as you at least reduce the chance of accruing more and getting into the Will save death spiral.

Dibbets |

Yeah - we don't really have any alternative... lack of Survival or not.
Dibbets would've been ok following Tum prior to the monkey-kauling, as he knew that the nugget would've sided with them in the end. But now that Kaul's visibly and tangibly gone over the the coco-nutter's side... well bugger that for a lark...

Cap'n Voodoo |

TBH Kaul's monkey caper was only meant to be during combat. He'd be more or less his usual ape-shit crazy now. Prolly still mainly in Camp Bobo though. It seems Tum Yoko is breaking up the band...
Dibbets' discomfort is very understandable. I for one am digging the Heart of Darkness groove that's developing, but I don't want you to feel railroaded.
I'm aiming for more gritty than heroic and things have gone a bit pear-shaped at the moment as you truly are out of your element. Something happened to your airlift and even with a more trustworthy guide, you are likely a week out from your starting point.
You can still roll an untrained survival each day for a nat 20 gimmee.
I'll wait for Kaul to respond in game. Dibbs doesn't have much leverage, but I never underestimate his stubbornness. Would be interesting if the halfling's bluff were kauled though (hur).

Dibbets |

The Heart of Darkness aspect is fine... but we are on a railroad right now. I don't feel any degree of player agency, because even a natural 20 on survival will last us all of a few miles in the jungle before we're lost again.
Can we roll on Dingus' behalf for the ebony fly... that's literally the only other thing here with any chance or hope... and I don't think Dingus is remembering to roll on it.

Cap'n Voodoo |

Can we roll on Dingus' behalf for the ebony fly... that's literally the only other thing here with any chance or hope... and Dingus isn't remembering to roll on it.
ah yes, nearly forgot. the fly..... roll away. though I'd like to resolve current impasse in game before implementing the results.

Dibbets |

1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 2 = 13 - day 2
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 9 - 2 = 22 - day 3
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 9 - 2 = 12 - day 4
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 2 = 15 - day 5
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 2 = 18 - day 6
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 - 2 = 13 - day 7
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 2 = 15 - day 8
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 - 2 = 14 - day 9
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 = 23 - day 10
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 9 - 2 = 16 - day 11
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 9 - 2 = 16 - day 12
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 2 = 8 - day 13
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 2 = 8 - day 14
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 2 = 27 - day 15
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 - 2 = 8 - day 16
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 9 - 2 = 22 - day 17
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 2 = 10 - day 18
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 9 - 2 = 20 - day 19
1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 - 2 = 17 - day 20
So we'll find out what the fly does in roughly two weeks from now...

James "Madman Jim" Patterson |

Ow. Good thing Dibbets is around, as he's not shy about ordering folks about.
And you all know that Heart of Darkness isn't a railroad, it's a river. Huge difference, right?

"Keelhaul" Kaul |

Sigh.
Ignore that last post. I'm somewhat of a "method" player so have locked myself in the local tropical gardens with a coconut for company...
Best spill my thoughts before the men in white coats come;
Enjoying the sheer insanity of Kaul and Tum and his turn to the simian-side lol, but I do appreciate we've lost our compass somewhat - as a person I can be a little chaotic in my influences so the Hearts of Darkness vibe, coupled with the slow descent into utter madness by the group is also very fun.
Realise Dibbs must be struggling to keep his (ironically) sane head above the waters right now and that's coming across well. Real challenge I guess is how we resolve the Tum Bobo scenario - but I'm trusting the Skipper has a plan... (like Hannibal he always has a plan right?)

James "Madman Jim" Patterson |

By RAW, supporting yourself with Survival for a day is a DC 10 check, and for every 2 you make the check by you can support one other person. If we're all foraging, we've got a better than average chance of keeping ourselves alive.

Dibbets |

Dingus' marriage was posted up by him on Facebook... at least I think that's what it was.
In the interest of not causing a raging halt (and with Jimmer catatonic) - here's a proposed solution:
1) Tum Bobo / Kaul make a case for where they're headed
2) Cap'n rolls an offscreen Sense Motive for Dibbs
3) Result of words plus roll = resolution
That is, if Tum spins a decent story (or is shock horror not leading us into oblivion) then Dibbs tagalongs.
If Tum doesn't convince him - then he camps out here singing kum-ba-ya till something dark and gribbly eats him.

"Keelhaul" Kaul |

Pretty sure Scran was married - like you said BookFace suggested such.
Kaul's opened with his take... sure Tum will have something vitriolic to add...
Kauly has some other things to add depending on how the situation unfolds (or collapses lol)

Dibbets |

Again for clarity - the only way that Dibbets might be convinced to not leave is with a clear description of where Tum Bobo is leading them... that he actually believes is true (as per Sense Motive offscreen).
Nothing else will convince him to be subject to the whims of the nut.

"Keelhaul" Kaul |

Congrats Scran. Will raise a wee toast for you in Bonnie Scotia (which btw is a most excellent honeymoon destination :)
Skipper given Dingus is now threatening Tum - am presuming this could be a catalyst for Kauly's craziness??

James "Madman Jim" Patterson |

Sorry; was on the road most of yesterday and am dealing with family today. Let's assume that Jim is temporarily lacking in motivation.

Well the amusement lasted for about 2.3 seconds before we got dumped back into the festering bog of not being able to do anything.
Is there actually a point to making suggestions Cap'n? - each of the possible ways forwards that have been put up have been shot down quicker than a rookie pilot heading out against the Red Baron.
At this point in time, there doesn't seem to be much point in doing anything except twiddling our thumbs until you get bored and decide we can actually move forward again.
Give us at least a forlorn hope to aim for - a distant clearing, a smoke trail rising out of the jungle, a magic item that does what the PRD says it does rather than one that seems like it was specifically put in just to raise hopes and then point and laugh when said hope is cruelly dashed against the ground...
I mean sure, we don't have the Survival skill, we've established that... but there is literally nothing that we can do. To me this feels like an exercise of twiddling our thumbs until you either kill us or get bored enough to actually give us some kind of plot trail to follow.
Throw me a bone here - what are you actually expecting from us here? - are we being somewhat punished for not blithely following after Tum Bobo?
Edit - this went up without me seeing your post (and for honesty I haven't adjusted anything after your post)... but yes, please please either skip a bunch or give us something tangible to follow / do.

Cap'n Voodoo |

I keep telling you that I have no real plan. : )
The cursed fly figurine was thought up long before the crew ended up stuck in the jungle. That was kinda on impulse. If anything, I just got the fly over so as not to prolong any false hope. Soooo, desperation established (as well as GM's sadistic tendencies) onward...
string of rolls: 10d20 ⇒ (12, 16, 11, 14, 10, 18, 3, 3, 20, 2) = 109

"Keelhaul" Kaul |

Shoulda followed me - Kaul's having a blast lol.
I jest of course. Guess we're just fish out of water (so to speak) - agree there must be some hope - personally I'd use the Southern Comfort gambit of having the group come full circle only to be captured by the elves and offered up as sacrifices to the Great Jungle Nut hur-hur-hur...
(apologies if that was your plan Skipper)

Cap'n Voodoo |

Hey, are we in the background of someone else's Serpent's Skull game?
Well, since we're in about the right part of the world... I thought that I'd throw some Easter eggs in for kicks ; )
Chronologically, we're a year later though.
I own, but have never played the AP. I know some of you have. How far did you get?

Cap'n Voodoo |

I'm in a PbP on the boards where I joined part way through the first AP (a few encounters prior to departing the Shiv) and it's slowed down fairly heavily - we've just gotten to Saventh Yhi (spelling likely botched).
I took a little look and found that y'all kicked Nkechi to the curb like Yoko-Bobo. Of course, I would have as well if he were sleeping around with flying chupacabra as seemed to be implied. I didn't really look any further.

"Keelhaul" Kaul |

Nae worries my cap'n: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
I did indeed mate - agree 110% that it was a passible JA effort - a little too obvious for my tastes and the slab of grimdark that I prefer was distinctly lacking like you said.
Half the World was released here last month and its the first Abercrombie book (shorts included) that I haven't had on pre-order... It should have ticked all my Dow boxes but alas left me a little meh.
Back to the mud with this YAdark malarky and roll on a bloody return to the First Law world in the next trilogy say I.

"Keelhaul" Kaul |

Right lads - am aff tae Norway for the weekend... likely nei much opporchanity for posting so feel free tae let the nut run the show while I'm away skipper.
Back Monday gents - Noggies permitting!
Skal

"Keelhaul" Kaul |

Will do - its their Easter break - so visiting friends and throwing a wee spot o' work into the mix also.
Bizarrely a huge part of Noggie Easter culture is watching crime dramas... scandi-noir lol.
