Ah, I was afraid of that. Oh, well.

Male Human

I realise that may be disappointing. And I'm generally happy to play the healbot - if you guys are all in agreement I'll swap to something healer-y - I did look into Sorceror but even Celestial bloodlines give no greater healing than fast healing. I considered Bard, I think they get cure spells, and Musami wanted a mentor-y type. I looked at dipping Cavalier for some tactician stuff, but archetypes without mounts were weird/super specific. I thought about Inquisitor, but I play/have played too many of those and couldn't see it being distinct enough from Navith. I've always loved Druids, but I don't think I've ever played one in PF - seems a little complicated with the wildshaping and animal companions. I dunno.

@Darkblade - do you have any concerns?

Yeah, do what you feel like. What we'll lack in healing we'll gain in brute force. Hopefully, if combats end quick we'll need less cures.

Just have a wand there ready for your UMD, will you? ;)

Male Human

Ok, sounds like a plan.

I am okay giving a Summoner a try, just realize in areas of extreme elemental influence, there is likely to be summoning taint of the elemental evil variety, so expect accordingly if elementals are called anyways.

Any thoughts on a Fil replacement? I can post a request this weekend if the party is interested.

With Navith's replacement being an arcane caster, maybe a divine caster would be nice to replace Fil? Not fussy what type. Cleric, Oracle, Warpriest, Druid, Paladin, Inquisitor?

Yes, that seems reasonable. Heck even a Bard?

No worries. Bards aren't actually divine casters, although they do get limited heal spells. And the kind of Bard I am replaces Inspire Courage, which is pretty much the go-to thing for a Bard, so it is admittedly hard to tell.

Mostly finished with Egesovax, except spell choices. Site has been screwy and had to reload, backtrack, load, save, redo, tear hair out, save, reload, preview, submit, load, save etc just to get this far.

Will tackle eidolon tomorrow.

Does the group wish to proceed w/o Egesovax or wait?

Gah. Weirdest set of procedures to get metal off eyeball.

Walked into waiting room and there is a guy in there I met a couple days ago at my mechanics. With a streaming left eye. Because of a piece of metal in it. Same eye. Same issue. Same time. Only they couldn't get it out of his eye until the next day at a far hospital with a specialist.

I just got my eye scraped to remove the fleck, and then because the fleck had oxidised - in other words....rusted onto my eyeball, they had to buff all the rust off with a tiny dremel-like drill. Really, really weird. No pain due to anaesthetic drops prior to procedure, but extremely uncomfortable. Pretty painful when the anaesthetic wore off....

Thanks for kind words...

Sorry guys, my internet is down at home until Saturday afternoon.

I will post the trip to the spider grove then, and get things back on track.

Do you folks want me to post for a replacement divine caster as well?

There are minor level differences at which clerics receive spells as opposed to wizards, which may play a part when facing summoned demons, devils, or other planar baddies, not to mention the general healing. Undead should be less of an issue after the next two levels, save the odd BBEG villain. I can buff the treasure lists for expendables, but those are after-action or action-deficit remedies.

Ultimately the decision is up to the players. I can tweak some things as needed to mitigate or plug holes, if desired, but I prefer to give the option first.

I think we could use a divine caster against all of those undead. Might be a good idea. I'm the noob in the group though, so those who have been here the longest should have more say.

Sorry guys, I waited all weekend and still no internetz at home. I really hate my ISP, and the only other alternative in the area costs more and has a restrictive data cap. The less restrictive cap would cost nearly twice what I currently pay.

Hopefully they will get it together this coming weekend. In the interim I will try to put something together and post it from work tomorrow.

And then I smashed my index finger between a log and a trailer creating a subungual hematoma - a blackened fingernail - the like of which I have never accomplished. I've had blackened nails before but never like this - luckily I didn't need to pierce it to relieve the pressure, but the finger did swell by 50% and throbbed up my arm until I put a cold pack on it and went to sleep...

Have now chosen spells, and will work on Eidolon tomorrow night...

Aargh. As a player I don't much care if Fil dies since he is now an NPC, but Zokama can't leave him to die. This thread has some options that were included in 3.5 and it looks like were supposed to be in Pathfinder, but not sure if there is an official errata or not: POST.

I keep trying to think of solutions, but except unofficially, there are none. If I set the web on fire, by the rules it takes way more than one waterskin to douse one square of fire, so he dies and we can't set the forest on fire. Acid splash and even summoning birds don't do any good against a swarm, because arguably all of that targets specific targets. We could let him die, but then the swarm comes after us, and we haven't killed the spiders as we said we would.

The only solution I can think of is retconning and just paying the stupid money for a bow, or rolling a new sorcerer character instead because this situation is impossible with only bard magic. Bards are super flexible characters, but they are pointless as the sole magic users.

So, honestly... can't think of even one thing to try that would work other than just in story, like summoning birds to eat the spiders.

If it is the only chance, Zokama will go pull Fil out of the swarm and take his place, letting the others carry him back to town to get him healed up or whatever. Even though he is an NPC, she'd rather die in his place than let him die to help her out.

You have two beads of force.

An acid flask does splash damage so it would harm the swarm, target the square rather than an individual spider.

There is a scroll of Burning Hands, if anyone can attempt to cast it via UMD.

Fil is not currently in a forest square, so if you are careful of any flames you are not likely to create a forest fire, at least not without having a chance to stop it.

Dirt, old cloaks, and flasks of water could be used to fight a potential fire, before it gets out of hand.

And on the count of three Braggi and Musami hurled flasks of alchemist's fire at the swarm engulfing their friend, followed almost immediately by a small glass bead hurled savagely by Zokoma. The flaming chemicals burst over the huddled and weak form of Filnefillan even as those same dancing motes started popping and bursting the small poisonous vermin. Then a brilliant flash of purple light sprang forth around the conflagration, solidifying into an impenetrable barrier containing the flames, the spiders, and Fil. After a few moments the flames died out, the air inside the sphere replaced by a thick oily smoke. Reaching out her hand Zokama touched the glass barrier and willed it to end, then stepped back as air rushed inwards, the smoke rising up in a noxious column over the clearing. The spiders were no more, their friend unmoving. Was the cure too much for the patient, did their elven friend still live?

Nice. I guess I haven't been keeping up with the loot very well because I didn't realize we had those resources.

Sorry about that, by the way... moved and switched jobs and seem to have less time than I used to.

Shall we move on to that then, storywise, rather than me lamely trying to recreate it? :)

I just offered a few suggestions, you guys can put together whatever plan you want to attempt. I just wanted to point out that the rules for creating a forest fire would allow some leeway in finishing off the swarm, and many things can be used to creative effect, if given the chance.

Myself I once found a quick burning of green wood and leaves smoked out a nest of spiders at an old camping site, sending them scurrying into the brush.
