Aerians arrow goes wide, but with Argors help, another beetle bites the dust!
"Bold May Post
Aerian- 3 dmg

Black Sun
Jundu- 4 dmg
Argor- 9 dmg
Cyclic
Cyclic
|
Cyclic blesses the party, even though the battle has already been won.
"Rather unfriendly way to greet guests."
| GM DevilDoc |
Jundu: I moved you south instead of east on the map. From the position you moved to, you would have been unable to hit the bug due to cover from the sofa. From here, you got it.
Jundu takes a step back into the door, where he can fire around the couch at the beetle. His arrow just manages to strike the carapace and sinks deep into the beast pinning it to the rug.
Out of Combat
Aerian
|
With the beetles dead and threats eliminated, Aerian pulls out his wand of cure light... "Anyone hurt?"
Cyclic
|
Cyclic moves forward to perform rites over the dead beetles and consign them to decay. It only takes a few seconds and then she joins the others in the search starting in the southwest and moving clockwise, opening doors as she goes.
| GM DevilDoc |
Sorry about the delay. Family time and travels.
Arogr heals himself while Aerian makes sure no one else is wounded. Jundu and Cyclic roam around the room, seeing what there is to see, but don't find much.
Cyclic: Can you move your token to the first door you would like to open please?
All: Any other perception checks for the living room?
Aerian
|
perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Aerian gives the room a cursory once-over... But since ARgor seems so observant, he doesn't put a lot of effort into it.
Cyclic
|
Moved
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
| GM DevilDoc |
Cyclic moves about the room, finally settling on the large double doors in the western wall. She opens the door to reveal two large muscle bound men standing with crossed arms at the foot of a large four posted bed. In the middle of the bed, a vaguely humanoid shape lies completely curled under a heavy mound of blankets.
DC 20 will save for anyone moving into/looking into the room please.
Jundu
|
Jundu follows Cyclic to the bedroom door and peeks in. "Uh oh! It looks like he's got some bodyguards."
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Black Sun
|
highly improbable Will save: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16 +2 if they're shadow magic...but it doesn't matter
Black Sun just sort of stands there, uncertain what to do.
| GM DevilDoc |
Jundu WS: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
You crowd the door, looking in on the scene before you. Despite your intrusion, neither the body guards nor the bundle under the covers reacts in any way.
Cyclic
|
will st: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
| GM DevilDoc |
Neither the two heavies nor the blanket mounded bundle react to Argor's parlay.
Cyclic
|
"That's odd. Either they're deaf and blind or this is some sort of image."
Cyclic walks up and gives one of the guards a poke with the butt of her spear.
| GM DevilDoc |
The butt of the spear thumps against the guards chest but he does not stir.
Cyclic
|
Cyclic unwraps the bed AFTER being joined by the others.
| GM DevilDoc |
Cyclic removes the blankets to reveal a funny looking gnome with blue hair sleeping soundly. He does not respond to being uncovered.
| GM DevilDoc |
Like the muscle at the foot of the bed, the gnome does not respond to Argors vigorous tactics.
| GM DevilDoc |
Jundu: First round: Yes.
Second Round: 1 strong aura
Third Round: 1 strong aura over the room
DC 21 Spellcraft to identify
Jundu
|
Ugh no Spellcraft. I gotta get him updated after this scenario.
Jundu looks around and says, "There is a strong aura here but I'm not sure what it is. Seems safe to say they aren't going to react to us. Let's have a look around."
He starts poking around the room, assuming the others still don't react.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Aerian
|
Aerian tries another door and looks around...
perc: 1d20 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 4 + (4) = 24
| GM DevilDoc |
Aerian: Could you please move your token in front of the door you would like to explore
Aerian
|
moved Aerian to the northeast door
Cyclic
|
"Well, I don't know what these things are for sure, but I do know we are getting nowhere poking and prodding them. I'm going to go join Aerian."
| GM DevilDoc |
Aerian leads the rest of the group towards the back of the house and opens the next door. This chamber is filled with desks, chairs, and cushions.. enough to comfortably seat 6 people at least. Papers and books lie scattered about on the desktops, creating an air of clutter in a well used room. As he begins to rifle through the room, he finds a note hidden amongst the papers. Last handout on the link. Underneath the note is a hastily scrawled note that simply reads "Zimpar".
He also finds two sealed potion vials, each one labeled with an aging but still readable tag.
Aerian
|
Aerial will read the tags on the bottles, as well as show all found notes,to others
Aerian
|
"What about the other room? there might be something useful there as well."
Cyclic
|
"Odd fellow. I thought it might be illusions. So, to the wall then and I hope whiffle is not a joke. He also seems like the type to play a joke like having us say whiffle everywhere..."
"Sure we can check out the next room. Why not?."
| GM DevilDoc |
Popping your heads into the last unexplored room reveals what you now know to be an image of Fembrik perusing the book shelves. The figure looks at you and waves before returning its "attention" back to the books.
The group packs it in and heads back across town in the grim drizzly dawn hours. Arriving at the Shrine, you find that despite the early hour, a crowd has already begun to form. From the muttering of the people gathered, it seems that Sir Reinhart, a Mendevian crusader intent on becoming a god, is about to attempt the Test of the Starstone atop his trusty steed. As you push towards the Shrine of the Failed and down the basement stairs, you hear everything from wagers and bets being placed to hopeful pleas and affirmations of success for the divine hopeful. Entering the cool marble building you note that the building is empty of even the caretakers.. it seems that everyone is watching Sir Reinhart attempt to prove himself a god. You slip behind the distracted crowd and inside.
Erected centuries ago by an unknown organization, the Shrine of the Failed is a dour complex that pays homage to those who failed in their attempts to overcome the Test of the Starstone. The building houses numerous altars, each dedicated to a specific failed aspirant. Black-robed acolytes protect, clean, and maintain the halls as well as the few trinkets left behind by the aspirants. The shrine is a stone edifice with several levels that contain altars to the failed aspirants.
Stepping within the Shrine, you are stand within the great antechamber of the enormous building. This monumental chamber stretches eighty feet from end to end, with a ceiling suspended thirty feet from the floor by great pillars. Seven arched passages lead to humble rooms, each of which contains a polished stone altar dedicated to one of the failed aspirants who attempted the Test of the Starstone.
Map is updated, please feel free to adjust or prep as you wish. You have now been up all night, and everyone is Fatigued
Cyclic
|
Cyclic starts making her way around the room, looking for clues, in a clockwise direction.
"Not sure what we're looking for here."
Just to humor the ghost of the illusionist, as she makes her way she keeps pronouncing "Whiffle!" hoping that the magical password will open something up.
Black Sun
|
"It's getting light. Maybe we should...turn in...for the day?"
Cyclic
|
"Hmmm... Well, a few hours of sleep would help, I suppose."
I can barely feel the fatigue through all the weirdness coursing through my body - but it's there. Now that she mentions it I can tell.
Cyclic halts her circuit and turns to the others as if waiting for their opinion.
Black Sun

"I used to dream, when I was very young, that at the stroke of midday, when everyone was asleep, all the lifeless things of the world would come to life for about an hour...at least, I think I dreamed that...."
