Argor, bloodied, and bruised, does everything in his power to stay on his feet. "Now that the threat has passed, I can heal myself." Argor states, slowly getting out his own wand, and then healing himself with it.
website was down for me last night when I tried to post.
The team reassemble and patches up their wounds before turning their attentions back to the tunnels and presses on through the dim tunnels and ending at a small alcove. Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft luminescence that brightens the small room.

Jundu inspects the gem and the papers, wondering who would have built this alcove.
Everyone crowds together and shuffles through the papers. Unfortunately, you all see that they are written in an incomprehensible way that could only be a cipher of intricate design. There is no telling what this multitude of pages may contain, but the importance of this trove of documents that have been so well hidden for so many years could hardly escape notice.
The team works together to gather the documents and prepare for the trip to the Grand Lodge. Trooping back through the hallowed halls of the Shrine to the Failed, you eventually return to daylight just as the crowd, which has grown exponentially since your entrance to the tomb, lets out a collective gasp and groan of dismay. Throughout the crowd, several female voices cry out in tears or in swoon.. it seems you have returned to the present just in time for Sir Reinhart's misguided attempt to vault across the chasm surrounding the Star Stone Cathedral on horseback. It seems that the aspirant has been judged as simply a man, as he and his loyal steed plunge into the unfathomable darkness below.
You arrive at the Lodge in short order, where Drandle Dreng has you ushered quickly into his office. "It seems that your walk in the rain last night has turned into a bit of an adventure!!" the Venture Captain greets you. "I swear, I knew nothing of the hidden room, but tell me.. what have you found? Heryn sent me a missive telling me that you found a secret room and cleared her basement of some foul creatures, and then rushed out of there like there were demons on your tails!"
Effectively, you have finished the mission, and I am stalling for time to make up the Chronicle sheets and report everything. :-)
"Poor horse didn't deserve such an end..." Aerian says nothing of the fool of a rider.
no problem with the stalling...
"We found yet another hidden room, and in it, this bunch of papers, which are written in some cryptic cypher... perhaps experts here at the Society can, in time, make sense of them." Aerian shrugs slightly, bridling at his own inability to decipher the notes. "I'd someday like to learn of what we found, if that's possible."

"Not even close! Why even attempt the jump if you haven't practiced? Heavens know what might be in the cathedral so there is no preparing for that. Might as well control whatever you can." muses Jondo.
Dreng chuckles as the team recounts the dreary end of Sir Reinhart, and adds in "I quite agree with you.. I see absolutely no reason behind the many attempts at the Starstone Cathedral!! As for your adventures, BRAVO!! You have done a wonderful service for the Society, and I will see that you are rewarded appropriately for your initiative. Give us a few days to try and decipher all of this, and I will be sure to fill you in on what we find. For now, go home and rest.. I am sure that it is much needed after your adventures!!"
I will have the chronicles done and the game reported tomorrow night at work. I forgot the scanned file on my desktop on the work computer!!

Thanks for the run GM DevilDoc! Great job with this. And thanks everybody else for a fun game! :D
A couple of days later, a young messenger boy finds you at your leisure. "I've a message fore ye.. From Mist'r Dreng!" he says in a rush as he pushes the paper towards you. As soon as your fingers touch the page the sprat is off again, quickly disappearing into the street.
Bottom of the handouts link.
I want to thank all of you for your time and efforts here. Your chronicles are posted, and please take a moment to give me some feedback!

Wait, did I never make my Day Job roll for this adventure? I should have one. If not:
Black Sun: You did.. I just forgot to add it last night after talking about your reroll. Your original roll was a 13 giving you 5 gold. My apologies. Your new chronicle is loaded and ready for you.

Character: Black Sun

Day job: Craft (Calligraphy): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 I'll want to use my folio reroll if I don't use it in this fight.
Cyclic will be purchasing the wand of summon monster I (listed on the MotFF chronicle) and a Traveller's Any-Tool as part of the third chronicle. That will make her starting wealth 587.90, and expenditures 385. I'll repeat this when you ask for all the character stats but I wanted to make sure I did not forget so I wanted to mention it now.

Considering the outages that have been happening lately, I am passing out my Google ID in case anyone has Google Hangouts and wishes to add me for communication that doesn't involve Paizo trickeries :-) No offense meant to any lurkers!! I promise!!!
Anyways, if you wish to check up on the game or to contact me for any reason, I am on Google Hangouts, and my address is dragonthoughts83@gmail.com
Thanks to John Compton, everyone that was participating in a game on Saturday gets to reap the rewards of participating in Free RPG Day!! Although the second boon is not available, you do get a special boon allowing you to replay one specific mission.
Please note that these are limited to one per player, not per character. I have filled out the applicable information at the bottom.. just fill in the top when you assign this to a character. It does not have to be the character that is in this game.
A couple of notes for the group:
I would really like to finish this arc and have everything completed and reported prior to the start of GameDay VI on 25 August. This gives us just less than two months to complete the scenario, but I think that we can manage easily as long as post rates are kept up. I am not expecting anything extraordinary, but I would like to re-emphasize my request for at least a post a day to help keep things moving.
With that said, I am giving advance notice that I will be travelling the second week of July for more Dr. appointments with the wifey. This shouldn't interrupt things too badly, but we do intend to make use of the summer vacation by spending a few extra days with family during this time. At the moment, we are looking at being out of town from July 10th-12th.
So.. in all of the times I have played this, I have never seen this part come to blows. It figures that it would happen on my first time running the game.
I was doing my best to try and help you guys out by providing information that the PC's were obviously not going to get through conversation, as well as trying to fill in the holes in my description. I mentioned twice in OOC that no one had really tried to converse with him, (I know he was being an ass, but that is specifically written to be played that way), and I mentioned twice that there had not even been any diplomacy rolls. All of this because I knew that shortly after entering the mausoleum, yall were going to figure out what the next step was and that it was going to be difficult to make the DC's without knowing how to manipulate the cleric. I have been trying to give you everything you needed set yourselves up for success:
He is a vain thug, with a history in street gangs. The scenario specifically gave bonuses to anyone that played up on his vanity or paid lip service to Asmodeus. Most people try and talk their way out of a fight when approached by individuals like this.. and most know that Vain idiots are the easiest to manipulate if you work within their skewed views.
Thugs can normally be bought off, or are at least looking for ways to make a coin or two. I was trying to lead you a bit in this direction with this post:
"You expect me, a cleric of the mighty and strong Asmodeus, to allow you to break the contract engaging me here and let you lot into this tomb?!" he exclaims with a guffaw. "And with nothing more than a promise not to disturb anything? Asmodeus himself would whip me for that kind of agreement! The strong shall lead the weak, and right now, yer lot is tha weak one. Try again."
I even directly and specifically guided you against conflict once already by mentioning other clerics walking around the grave yard.
I realize that as chaotic neutral, you have a bit more leeway than some of the other alignments. However, attacking a guard for being a jerk when he had already agreed to your request and was helping you goes quite a bit farther than simply acting in your best interests.
JAFO: What alignment is Aerian? You do not have this listed in your profile.
Copied straight from the scenario text:
A former street thug, Durward lost several fingers and
toes—and almost his life—before finding refuge among
Absalom’s Asmodean priests. He enjoys his position
of privilege and the powers granted to him by his god.
Durward is ruthless in persecuting those who enter
his necropolis.
Roleplaying Opportunities: As a former member of
one of Absalom’s numerous street gangs, Durward speaks
in slang and often uses seemingly made-up words that
he picked up during his criminal past. His devotion to
Asmodeus is genuine, for he believes the strong should
always be in a position of power. As a result, he talks down
to others, often stepping uncomfortably close so that he
can express his obviously superior thoughts.
Motivation: Durward is an elitist, believing that his
dedicated service to Asmodeus has put him in some kind
of superior gang in Absalom. Because he considers the
necropolis to be his turf, the PCs must convince Durward
to allow them access to the mausoleum containing
Arkath’s remains.

First time I've seen it go this direction, too. I honestly thought something like this was what you were insinuating - and as it turns out, learning more about this particular character isn't exactly making me feel guilty.
I may have jumped the gun due to metagaming since I also knew
Spoiler:
he'd likely stand in the way of us claiming our 'prize' here
, but once it came to that I'd just have had all the more reason to do this.
The first time I ever played this it came to blows too, but by that time my character had lifted his holy symbol from him and he was pretty pathetic without it.
Bad GM!! I get all the way through making up the chronicle sheets and realize that I only have two of yalls dayjobs. With the exception of Aerian and Argor, may I have your rolls please?

I have greatly enjoyed playing through this arc with all of you, and you are all welcome at any of my tables in the future! I know that evergreens can get pretty boring and repetitious, but I truly hope that I was able to liven things up for you on this go around.
got my chronicle and filled out your feedback sheet as well... thanks again for the arc... and thanks to my fellow players for being kind and understanding of the incompetent 1st lvl investigator, lol.
Cyclic: I clean out that folder after everyone says they have their chronicles. Luckily for you, I also retain them in a separate file!! I have added your MoFF back to that folder.. just follow the link above.

Aha! Just solved the mystery of the missing chronicles. Ever once in a while I lose a chronicle that I save in google docs. It seems that if I move the file over and do not make a personal copy, if the GM moves the file the link is lost and the chronicle is lost. I was doubting my sanity for a while there because in a few cases I was 90% sure I grabbed the file and then went back to look months later just to find it was gone.
:-D that happened to me a while back. I got into the habit of just moving stuff over, and then went to audit a character one day, and like half of the total of all my chronicle sheets were gone! That was extensive and painful, let me tell you!
One thing I learned from that experience though was I now keep both digital copies and hard copies of everything. I have a binder that I have set up just for PFS.
I have digital copies in character folders on my computer as well as hard copies for every character too.... makes for 2 big notebooks of characters, but worth it, just in case I ever get audited.
