Has anyone had J meet L in their game? (SPOILER)

Jolstina and Laori, that is. I can't decide whether hilarity is sure to ensue or if it would simply overwhelm the players and the mood during Escape from Old Korvosa to have their paths cross.

I'm just curious, since my players like Rolth and Jolistina. Or at least they really love to hate Rolth and they kind of want to help the now imprisoned Jolistina as much a possible.(she went on a date with a PC earlier. Long story)

Anyway, my crew is about to go barrelling into Escape From Old Korvosa. Rolth is on the loose, and his derro posse is going to break Jolstina out of Longacre at some point. I want to give them at least another encounter with Rolth and Jolistina in Old Korvosa before they have to skip town for History of Ashes.(I have plans for that couple in Crown of Fangs already, as a dangerous pair of loose cannons who are on no one's side)

I want to establish Laori solidly as a character and as an introduction to what the Zon-Kuthonites are about, so I think I'm going to back down from having the Villainous Harlequin and the Genki Girl meet. I was planning on having them absolutely hate each other simply on account of their similarities. Maybe if Laori makes it to Crown of Fangs...

I think this one may need an explanation...

It may also need a large bottle of Single Malt to survive with sanity intact, I fear^^

The long of it.

The short of it: They all had invites to the opera. The Varisian half-elf and the gnome wanted to go pick up "elven chicks" to take with them. Half-elf worked his charms on a lady who insisted her cousin come along. Gnome wound up playing the wingman. The cousin turned out to be a little strange. Gnome said he likes 'em crazy. Over the course of the night even he is a little weirded out by her.

IIRC, he was actually relieved that she let him down easy after the opera and admitted in an offhand remark and apology about that she was trying to make her boyfriend jealous so he'd pay more attention to her.

Then he remembered where he had heard her boyfriend's name before.

Well they did discuss the matter in a bar right after they found out who her boyfriend was. Three of them were hitting the drink pretty hard at that point.

Poor gnome sounded like he had dodged a bullet.

(They STILL haven't told her cousin what she's been getting up to)

Mikaze, I think your event at the opera was brilliant!!!!
It was well thought-out, and it must've been very entertaining to play.
And it's a great foreshadowing of Jolistina! How did it go when they met her again later in the adventure?

Liberty's Edge

Note to self: Avoid trying to "pick up elven chicks" in the future.

Thanks!

All the characters collectively went "Ooooooh $%&#..." when she cheerfully recognized them and invited them to play with her at Carowyn. Same for the players themselves, save one who deadpanned to the gnome "You really do like 'em crazy, huh?" They did their damnedest to capture her alive, and put themselves at further risk(at least as far as they knew) to smuggle her back to Citadel Volshyinek in one piece.

Some of the players were suitably disturbed by her, a few really want to try and get her some help, as hopeless as that prospect seems at the moment.

It was in a session with a lot of "oh crap!" moments though.

Spoiler:
By the time Jolistina told them that she handed Ruan off to Rolth and two "ladies in faceless, full-plate armor with red plumes", they were on the edge of panic themselves what with all the conspiracies they were suddenly imagining. Not to mention that two of them had friends and neighbors that had gone to join the Gray Maidens.
So they were off balance already and worse by the time they reunited with Jolistina.

Funny bit:

Spoiler:
The players had been hung up on the matter of the four vampires they encountered at the toy shop. Their research told them that there was probably a master vampire still lurking within the city. Some of them were convinced Rolth was behind them.

They were at Three Rings Tavern when Deyanira approached them about her missing brother. As soon as she told them about Carowyn manor and the sickly sweet smell of death coming from inside, not to mention the manic singing and shuffling she could hear at times, they leapt to conclusions.

They immediately bought some old chairs from the tavern owner, and went to work breaking them down into stakes in the common room. One of the adventuring types taking shelter at Three Rings during the plague, an old, grizzled Ustulavian man, looked over, grinned approvingly and came over to point out all the other things they would be needing like some old mechanic showing the new kids what they were missing. Three Rings was happy to sell what garlic they had in stock for the price they were willing to pay too.

I'm not sure if they were relieved or disappointed that it was all for nothing.

bump

On account of this meeting looking more and more inevitable for my group's run through Escape from Old Korvosa.
