Black Sun
|
Black Sun closes in and blasts again...
gravity blast, guidance: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
...but is momentarily bewildered by the happy face design on the spider's carapace. Even she thinks that's creepy.
Cyclic
|
Cyclic moves into the doorway and casts bless, though she figures the spider has on a few moments left before it is thoroughly squashed.
BLESS is active.
"Seems like a lot of wildlife has take up residence here. Poor things are all hungry."
Aerian
|
Aerian fires off a shot at the spider again.
to hit: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 1 = 19
dmg if hits: 1d6 ⇒ 5
| GM DevilDoc |
Even with Argors help, Black Sun is unable to hit the spider as it runs along its webs. However, with help from Cyclic, Ajax and Aerian quickly bring the beast to the ground, killing it!
Out of Combat
Jundu
|
"Good work!" cheers Jundu. Then he begins a celebratory dance, inspiring everyone to be more watchful through the rest of the tower.
Using my Careful Teamwork cause I forgot to earlier. All allies within 30 feet gain a +1 bonus on Initiative checks, Perception, and Disable Device checks for 1 hour. They also gain a +1 insight bonus on Reflex saves and to AC against traps and when they are flat-footed.
Then he takes a look around the room, poking through the cobwebs for treasures.
perception+careful teamwork: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8
Aerian
|
Aerian does his own search, careful not to get caught in any lingering webs.
perc, take 10: 10 + 4 + 1 = 15
Black Sun
|
Black Sun does likewise.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Cyclic
|
Cyclic observes the passing of the Spider, once again saying a few words.
| GM DevilDoc |
The group looks around the room while Cyclic observes the death of the creature. Black Sun notices a small cocoon hanging in the webs, holding the remains of an unfortunate dog that fell into the spider’s clutches. The desiccated carcass is still wearing its leather collar, which is studded with lapis lazuli stones and has a silver tag reading “Kita.” The collar looks like it would fetch around 50 gold at market just forr the precious stones.
Finished here, the group moves into the next room, finding it equally clogged with rubble and debris. However, along the inner wall sits an old wooden door. After a bit of tugging from the more muscular members of the team, you manage to finally pry it open revealing a circular stone staircase going both up and down from this landing. As you explore, you find that the lower staircase has collapsed, and is unable to be dug out. Returning to the landing, you move upwards coming out to another old wooden door on the second level, with the staircase ascending farther upward into the darkness.
I believe I forgot to ask what yall are doing about a light source??
You may either open this door or continue upwards.
Black Sun
|
What is this "light" you speak of and why do we need it? Don't all the photons just get in the way?
| GM DevilDoc |
Ok. That works to get you into the stairs. Are you just throwing open the door or what have you in mind?
Cyclic
|
Cyclic will occasionally cast a Detect Poison spell in front of the group. She has no light but does have low-light vision.
Aerian
|
Aerian has darkvision, but doesn't mind the light on the staff either. He listens at the door before it gets opened.
perc: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
He shrugs and moves away so someone stronger can open the door.
| GM DevilDoc |
Aerian listens at the door, but is unable to hear anything through the thick wood. He steps back, motioning for the stronger individuals to have the honors. With a quick pull, Argor throws open the door!
Racks for weapons line the walls of this chamber; above the racks hang various shields, pieces of armor, weapons, and standards on display. Most of the racks are empty, but a few weapons remain in place. A horrible stench fills the room as well, akin to the smell of rotten eggs mixed with the reek of an open sewer. As the smell rolls over you like a tidal wave of putrid squalor, two reptilian creatures jump up from a game of bones, turning towards you with weapons drawn.
As they do so, Ajax and Jundu are unable to help themselves.. the stench is overpowering as they begin to retch and be sick.

Aerian: These are troglodytes; one of the oldest intelligent races, hey are among the most populous denizens of the upper reaches of the endless caverns of the underworld. You have one question.
Black sun starts the fight off with a blast of gravity, but she misses the mark trying not to hurl. The Troglodytes laugh and chortle to each other.
If anyone speaks Draconic, let me know.
They both draw Javelins and throw them at the group.
R vs J: 1d20 ⇒ 6
B vs J: 1d20 ⇒ 8
However, the small doorway proves to be a difficult target, and the javelins don't even come close to entering the portal.
Don't forget that depending on where you are within the group, the troglodytes almost certainly have cover from your position in the stairwell.

Ninja'd!
Per se, they do not have any special attacks, however any creature that has fought them would certainly comment on their stench. Getting within 30' of a troglodyte subjects you to a horrendous stench that is likely to leave you creating puddles of sick all over the floor.
Aerian

yeah, I knew that, but had to ask something and that seemed reasonable, lol

Stalwartly overcoming their stench, Argor moves forward and smites the troglodyte with his mighty staff.

Black Sun: They are elated that they can have some fun, and won't have to share an unplanned dinner with the rest of the group.
Argor steps forward and delivers a mighty smack to the reptilian creature! Unfortunately, it moved at the last second, and this flinch likely saved its life.
Black Sun and Ajax move into the room attacking, but neither one is able to touch their targets.
