Baldwin the Merciful's: Treasure of Chimera Cove (ACG) (Inactive)

Game Master baldwin the merciful

Chimera Cove lies at the southern tip of a rocky and storm-swept cape projecting into the Inner Sea, in a no-man’s-land between the great nations of Cheliax and Andoran. The three islands sitting just off shore do little to block the sea’s relentless swells, but they do effectively anchor the persistent coastal fog, making local navigation perilous. The fishermen who settled this grim seashore decades ago have a knack for maneuvering their catboats to and from their spindly docks, but no merchant ships dare use the treacherous cove, even with a launch. Few outsiders find the settlement’s steady decline in recent years surprising, wondering only at why the place was ever founded.

Quiz you really couldn't see much from your POV but it looked like a tunnel. Before being able to get a better look you see some activity on the shore as a couple guards appear they are grumbling.

Quiz returns and puts fingers to his eyes and then holds two fingers up to indicate guards and then makes fists and brings them together to indicate an argument. He then uses his hands to indicate a tunnel.

I wonder how bad the discipline is, e.g. what would happen if we had a crate or two of strong beer and put it where they could find it. Anyway we probably don't so we need to plan what we do next. We definatly risk being surrounded, but on the other hand we appear to be undetected...

While they debate the next action, Quiz racks his brain to see if the Silver Reign has any historical or local significance.

Xavier shakes his head and points to the guards behind, then draws his finger across his throat.
He did not like leaving enemies at his back. If they continued he did not have a second water breathing to get them out once the duration expired.

They needed to hurry.
He makes a running mmotion with his fingers to say let's go, pointing towards tue new tunnel, they needed to get in and out fast.

Evil GM

You all get a full round action as you have the surprise right now, 9I know surprise round only gives you one action not a full round action but they don't suspect you where you are at.) The two guards (red) at each seige weapon has their backs to you. There are 4 guards walking the wall (yellow), and the two new guards exit from a doorway. (blue)

Seeing the wisdom of not having enemies at his back, Quiz agrees. He surfaces near the boat and arranges a surprise for the guards up top!

Concentrating he makes a series of bizarre Hand movements which leave behind evanescent trails in the air which twist and turn horridly. With a slight wrist flick and an arcane phrase an arcane enhanced loathesome veil appears between M:20 and H:21 (DC22 will save). The dangerous side is facing away from the party so Rena should be OK, also it's hanging in the air above her head.

I'm using an arcane reservoir point to enhance the save DC by 2.

He pulls his wand of DIVINE FAVOR and uses it then moves out of the water to N21. So as to avoid the Loathesome Veil.

Evil GM

Quiz and the silver reign:

You recall a story about a ship The Silver Reign, which was a Chelish merchant ship that disappeared fifty years ago without a trace. It's clear that Cheliax shipbuilding is excellent and this chamber has been inactive. It probably dates back to Pelastour, the grandfather to the treasonous Poltur.

From the DM POV it's anticlimactically, it's like they are all dead why bother going through the scenario...this fodder is way to easy but I will fix that for the next encounter.

If you are in the water it will be move action to swim/climb out of the water, and second move action to get out and approach the enemy. Where Xavier was he was able to climb out right next to his enemy and get a single attack.

Crap. I KNEW we should have assaulted from outside first. Now they are gonna run away and attack later.

Xavier noted the Hob fleeing. The priest could not catch up in his plate.
But they had left enemies at their back.

Two options presented.
Take the ship and leave the Hob's stranded in a cave with a submerged entrance or try to destroy the force in the close tunnels where the advantage of superior numbers would be stunted.

Not saying we can't kill everyone. But lets play smarter than the last battle. we have already left enemies at our back, but I can handle the fodder. The ship will be precious to them. And if we fall the general will have more time to send reinfocements if they are stuck underwater. They won't destroy it, cause they need it. If we PRETEND like we are taking it they will rush to recover it. Let's MAKE them come out. If the fight goes bad we can sail away ;)
