Evil GM

All of a sudden you see a barbed creature pop in the alley. From the tip of its lashing tail to the serrated features of its fang-filled visage, this fiery-eyed sentinel bristles with barbs. It stand upward of 7 feet tall and weigh 300 pounds, its lean and muscled body appear much larger due to the constantly growing and adjusting spines that protrude from his razor-sharp body. I erred previously when I described it as large.It is medium sized.

You see the barbed creature but it looks odd to you. In fact, it looks like a good illusion.

Knowledge planes or religion, DC 21 and up:

This appears to be a barbed devil. Sentinels of the vaults of Hell, jailers of the darkest souls, and living weapons of the infernal forges, barbed devils—known as hamatulas to diabolists—enforce the strictures of the damned and safeguard the nefarious works of greater devils. A hamatula enjoys the feel of warm blood on its spines, and prefers to leap into melee when presented with an opportunity for battle.

It's preferred method of attack is impaling, grabbing, and fear.

Knowledge 30:
Barbed devils have a unique defense. Anyone that strikes a hamatula with a melee weapon, an unarmed strike, or a natural weapon takes 1d8+6 points of piercing damage from the devil's barbs. Melee weapons with reach do not endanger a user in this way.

They are SR, immune to fire and poison. Resistant to acid and cold. Good weapons are most effective.

Aurelio you see the creature, it shifts in place preparing itself for you attack, then it begins to snarl and taunt you to rush it.

The shield is a +1 bashing shield, so it's +1 to attack and damage. I just remembered I get a free bull rush for hitting him, but I'll pass at the moment, and he's at -2 to attack, and -5 to concentration because he's next to me.

The devil step 5 feet away, speaking an infernal word that translates to"Smoke". One of the torches snuff out and begins to billow a dark inky smoke, all sight, even darkvision, is ineffective in or through the cloud. All within the cloud take -4 penalties to Strength and Dexterity (Fortitude negates the -4 penalties).

He took a 5 ft step back so does he still need the concentration check Aurelio?
