perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (17) + 24 = 41
The scene of pointless death is troubling, the eerie voice begins to rumble,
"Come forth and die with sport. You'll bare the marks of the torturous chain as i flay the flesh off your bones. The contract has been set, now it's time to deliver on the terms."
You still don't see what ever is making this noise from this POV.
We are entering initiative which I will put up shortly.

It speaks the Infernal language. It wants us to die sportingly as it flays us with chains. It speaks of a contract that has been set and will deliever on the terms.
Andrea moves to J-0 and casts Protection from Evil 10' on Aurelio
+2 AC/Saves vs. Evil 10', Protects against mental influences

"Do you have the bone to stand and fight, or should I step behind you and flay the flesh of the sweet witch first." There is pause, "I don't smell paladin stench...yet there is a something different...yes a new odor. One free to leave since you're not part of the contract."

Aurelio Grulios |

Aurelio hears Infernal and then Andrea speaking in another foreign tongue and sighs.
"Go back to Westcrown Aurelio," Ulthen said, "it'll be a nice rest. You deserve it after spending a year fighting zombies, make some contacts, maybe find a nice girl." Thrice damned shifty-eyed paladin. I'll get him for this if I have to drag myself across the Mana Wastes to do it.

Euphemia di Nereis |

"How charming. I suppose you would smell me if you happen to be one of those wretched extraplanar vermin."
Euphemia places Frank into his new satchel for protection.
"Not much I can do until I see it, though."
When it is seen: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27 Planes check.

Aurelio Grulios |

The devil's to the north - towards where the blood trail ends. Can any of you reveal an invisible devil?
Aurelio will delay his action until he see a threat, but will remain in between the rest of the party and where the voice is coming from.

baldwin the merciful |

Gerard you hear the rattling sound and can see the blood trail leading from the victims to the north. As you assess the nearest victim, it is clear to you that the flesh has been flayed from the bone, has a massive maw mark and it's been shredded. You can make out several barbs of broken metal piercing the skin.
You've heard about creatures such as chain devils that attack with barbed chains but this is a bit different then you would expect. Those tend to humanoid size, what ever did this was huge.

Aurelio Grulios |

Aurelio your not certain this thing is invisible, but what you do know is you can not see if from your current position and angle of sight.
D'oh, that's what I get for thinking. Well, worthwhile news anyway.

baldwin the merciful |

I had to snip the image from the COT, Bestiary so excuse the text.
I haven't given the thing it's name yet either since no-bone's identified it.

Aurelio Grulios |

Listen pal, it's rude to keep people out of the conversation by speaking gibberish. Clearly we're not running away from you, so why don't you stop cowering in the shadows like a quasit and we can get this over with?
Aurelio figures if anything's going to provoke a devil, mocking it by comparing it to the lowest form of demon would do it.

Andrea1 |

If it is huge, it has great reach. Don't charge head on where it can use it's reach to it's advantage. The Calikang was in tight quarters with us but out here this thing can move freely.
Use alleys and buildings so we can get close if need be, we also need to limit it's ability to move.

RD 1: The Creature
Aurelio you see the creature utters a word and flicks it's wrist, for lack of better word given it's body design, and several barbs of chain fly toward you. He did clearly did not target you from your perspective.
att: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (14) + 24 = 38
The barbs simply it in front of you and bounce around.

You don't here the bard singing anymore, nor do you hear Andrea's question. He must have stopped. Wait a minute you armor isn't squeezing either.
You don't hear Orsin's tenor voice anymore and you can't hear your own voice when you speak to Aurelio. You realize that one of the chain barbs that thing tossed in front of Aurelio contained a a silence spell.

Andrea1 |

Ugh. Connection problem.
Andrea's eyes widen and she waves to everyone, pointing at the barbs and clapping her hands over her ears and mouth to indicate the magical silence. She then waves to the sides to indicate people should spread out.

Andrea1 |

Hiding, as befits a coward...
Until someone makes him visible... we're dead in the water and probably plain dead. Come'on people... magic hands.
We'll need to advance in order to see more, only Aurelio can see the thing a ding so it isn't invisible.

baldwin the merciful |

Aurelio I mentioned the distance it was away but haven't revealed the map yet since the others can't see the creature.
The others will see Aurelio pointing towards the buildings on what would be the left, or West, side of the street if you were looking north (toward the top of the map). He would motion that the creature is really big in size.
The thing looks blurry to you vision. You would have seen the blur spell in your adventuring time to recognize the effects.

Andrea1 |

Well since I moved and we are in a silence spell I can't do anything else. I really didn't want to be here in this ambush but Gerard just had to run off again and drag everyone in.
Edit:Since I saw that I can use a move action in place of a standard action, I move back until I am out of the silenced area.
