Gerard Nisroc |
Fortitude: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Gerard fights his way through a choking cough, wiping arcid smoke from his eyes. Damned devil's always in the details...

Aurelio Grulios |
HP: 87/119
Aurelio still looks gray faced from the damage he's taken but nods his thanks to Andrea and Grulio.
My thanks. Devils and shadow demons cavorting around the city with impunity while the forces of order wait inside their huts clutching their skirts. This is no way for a city to live.
Andrea1 |
Andrea shakes hands and kisses babies before turning to the others.
So do we still want to head to the Gargling Gargoyle? I am still feeling confident that I have most of my resources available.
Will head out with the others if they want to go.
[b]I suggest Gerard head inside first to see if there any hellknights hanging around, and keep Frank with him so he can speak with Euphemia.
baldwin the merciful |
DMPC checking out the smouldering.
There is no evidence of any hellknight or creature present. Most of the second floor is destroyed it's clear that this was an importer cloth and most of the product is ruined. The first floor has a lot of broken glass and water damage but the foundation is salvageable .
After spending 15 minutes hunting a round the premise you are satisfied it's clear.
-------
There are no other incidents as you make your way to the nearby Gargling Gargoyle. There are a few curious onlookers watching from in front to the establishment as the last bit of smoke lingers.
What are you doing?
Gerard Nisroc |
Kissing Phem, Gerard accepts the hedgehog and makes sure he's comfortable. Slipping away, he lopes off half-singing some medley.
Reunited... and it feels so gooood...

As the smoke dies down several patrons make their way back inside. Everyone notices there are a few house guards, and footman hanging around various carriages.
Gerard enter the busy tavern, there are no visible hellknights in the customer area.
Gerard make know: local since you don't have know : nobility. Make it a -2
I need to get the map ready.
baldwin the merciful |
Gerard the tavern gets its namesake for the large stone gargoyle that looms over the front entrance, its mouth and split tongue cleverly designed to siphon rainfall off to either side of the front stoop to provide a dry area even on the wettest days.
This common room is always packed, even in these troubling times, as the nobles and well-to-do merchants take comfort in the familiar trappings and the building’s solid stone walls.
You see Trent Missepi, a young noble. You recall Andrea mentioning saving him from danger about a year ago. You also recognize Theo Libane, the haberdasher, (he has an odd looking boot on his left foot) Orsin buys clothing from, he is sitting with a well dressed one handed man that has an ax leaning against the table.
Gerard make a fame check.
Frank the Hedgehog |
No, I don't know any of these jokers of whom you speak. Now, if they had, perhaps, dwelt in a swamp, I might have more familiarity with your targets. I do, however, have animal magnetism. Let us feast our eyes on who comes, Pointy Prince.
Frank sneezes. I am aware of the irony of my using that moniker for you.
Of course, this is all unintelligible to the rogue.
baldwin the merciful |
Aurelio, Andrea, Phem and Orsin you all see a few body guards, carriage drivers and footmen chatting, with an occasional laugh, it's clear that they are waiting on their employers to emerge from the Tavern. There is a mixture of different colors, so they are not from the "same" house or merchant.
Aurelio Grulios |
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Aurelio will take the brief respite to look around and try to spot anything suspicious in the area. He pays particular attention to alleyways.
Andrea1 |
Gerard should have 18 fame points from finishing book 4
Andrea sidles up to the various servants and drivers and integrates herself in with them, looking to see if she can get any info of any new faces showing up at the Gargoyle or if Hellknights have recently been patronizing the place.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
baldwin the merciful |
Aurelio the alleys look clear there is one man standing near the side of the tavern from the looks of it, he is relieving himself. Watching him eh reemerges and joins back up with the other folks laughing.
When circle the alley you can see there are several windows and one door (in the back) as access. Several of the attendants stop talking when you approach. There are a few nods from the guards.
know nobility: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
One of the footman stands straight up and brushes his uniform down, "Milord...fine evening, except the smoke." It's clear that he recognizes you or the family crest. That of course, makes everyone else stand up and look your way...nervously.
Aurelio Grulios |
Aurelio nods at the footman politely.
A fine evening indeed. I'm only newly returned to the city, but I've been told the nights have been gotten better recently.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Tell me, what's been going on in the city of late? You know how some folk are. They'll tell you months of scandal amongst the nobility, but they couldn't tell you if half the city had up and vanished the day before.
baldwin the merciful |
Wide eyed, "Would've be out this time of night 'fore." He looks over at on of the guards. "We were just laughing 'bout that, Milord."
"Well...change bgan t'happen 'bout a year ago. Good and bad. More folks started t' disappear, especially young nobles like me lord, Trent Missepi, snatched one day. till he was saved by some hereos, they be the good the Brotherhood, they be known by."
"Course, ain't been easy. Half the city be blown'd up by the fool mayor and his pet devil." He lowers his voice, [smaller][b]"The Council has been in turmoil and killin' their own and many others and the crimes been rampant."
Jenar Hickory |
There is gumbling when Gerard makes his cheer, then but others bang their tankards and goblet on the table. It seems like the room is divided. The bartender looks at the coin, then begins to pour drinks, when she places the coin in the register.
"Careful now with your words." She smiles. "Not all are as thrilled as you are."
Gerard Nisroc |
He responds in confidence. Thrills and chills. You have no idea. You'll protect me, no doubt.
Then louder, another round and toast. To the Brotherhood and taking back the night! Another round! He offers more coin on the counter.
When the sounds die down he asks the barkeep, I heard Hellknights were about of late. You on good terms?

Andrea helps work the crowd with Aurelio. Well even with all the bad things, the city is still pulling together to fix the damage that has been caused. Why I believe the Brotherhood helped put ff the fire that just happened and has been helping any homeless wee ones find shelter.
Andrea keeps one eye on the doorway of the Gargoyle so Gerard isn't totally alone
Euphemia di Nereis |
Euphemia, meanwhile, approaches the mendicant and attempts to garner permission to help her a little bit. She is, after all, banged up, dirty, and hungry. All of these things could be fixed whilst the others work the crowd.
baldwin the merciful |
There is boot stomping form several folks when Gerard offers his toast toast. The Miseppe boy "Hear, hear to real heroes."
There is eruption of good will within the room as the noble speaks. Gerard you notice the one man, who has not stopped eyeing you is the only one not clapping.
The bartender mentions, "The Hell'yons can be loved and hated."
