And could I have found some anti-poison or anti-toxin as well? I am sure that things in swamps are poisonous.
We will probably need a CMW wand in the future since we are getting past the point of 1d8+1 being enough. :) Always willing to pitch in of course.

Seems we will be getting more allies to fight off all the humans, ogres and hill giants. Plus dogs, they have a big pack. So more bodies on our side seems to be a good idea.

Now, now... Sorry for any misunderstanding. Neither player nor character are being mean (well, maybe character is terse). I just have a different style of play. Still new to the group.
But, this group seems to be big on exposition. When role-playing in a crisis situation, I don't feel we'd have the time to sit around the fire and go through escapades in any level of detail.
I actually though we'd have been in combat a round or two later... then we went touring. Pimpin' the pink boat. But, even then we'd have been hurried... chit chat is not his thing. You seem to be a witch and he's the antithesis of "caster".
Doesn't mean he wouldn't rush to save the newcomer in some heroic fashion... just doesn't come across as candyland, bubble gum. He almost got his killed the previous day, having his arse handed to him. So, today he's all business.
We can role-play through it.
Now, as to buffs... Buffs aren't for the individual character, they are for the party good. The power is being used on the groups behalf, for the greater good. He's not asking for favors. That's my take.
He's more than willing to go on a suicide mission without blinking. Buffing him depends on how much you'd (or anyone'd) want him to succeed and/or survive. Does the group want his effectiveness optimized?

So here are some things we could do..
1.Try to ride off, perhaps find a more defensible spot.
2. Lurk off trail (need to leave the horses, us as bait?) and ambush.
3. Head on attack

As the newbie, this is up to A D L or O.

As Baldwin said, if we go to the forest, we will string ourselves out, have difficulties with LOS/ranged weapons and MIGHT lose them. Not all of us are good riders and we will probably need riding/survival checks.
Fighting on the path seems to be a good idea, we need good crowd control for example.
Wind Wall to protect us and Cloudkill on the enemies side
Wall of Fire to bottelneck the path and area spells like Black Tentacles,Confusion to wreck havok with ranks.

I was having difficulty with the villain tokens on the map, so I don't have it with me to set the battle up, if you decide to fight.

Gerard got Dex +2, INIT is +7 for future. Doesn't matter how things are for this combat.

I'm going to need to look at everyone's dex again for initiative. I forgot just about everyone and ability stat dex bump recently. I have not updated my initiative code template that I cut and paste.
We'll play it out as is for this event and I'll correct it for next time.
You can try a surprise round, roll a perception check and I'll roll mine out. It's pretty clear that the dogs have the scent ability and are tracking something.

You really don't know if these folks are slavers...all you know is waht the witch has told you. Basically a large force has arrived and is moving on the Mother's position.
It's taken you about 3 hours to get to this point.

Ogres can reach you in a tree (and they'll be the ones left)... 20ft up. Just lay down some righteous full attack rapid shot action. :)
They have reach so melee should be avoided. All yours!

Hmm. Orsin could drop a black tentacles on them after the thieves move. We need to break their group up so they don't swarm us.
I assume Lucrezia can get into a tree before the attacks happen?

Tree's a waste of precious actions, and it doesn't gain anything... Shoot the ogres.
If DM says she started in the tree, still no real advantage. But, better than wasting rounds.
Casters should focus on the Ogres until they're down. Full attack from an ogre is not going to be fun, which means you can't full attack them (unless you think it will kill them (finish off).
