The dottari are the police for the most part they do their job but there are quite a few that are corrupt. Including several political appointments.
The brotherhood were organized by Areal and Janiven.
The paladin is conflicted because he is LG and does not wish to break the law, nor have open hostilities. He had very little evidence of what was happening but his sister's kidnapping struck close to home. Plus many of the things that happen are actually legal in the city...like slavery.

It's pretty clear that these nobles are interested in the this group and that they respect them for what the group has done over the last year or so of time. You would have known about the hostilities between noble houses, its very Godfather like, and you are witness three of families working together to help the city. There are more then these three as they each have beholden houses but these are at the forefront. As an FYI, this has been a major plot line that ran parallel to the AP arc. The families and folks here are all trusted.
The lantern bearer idea is something Andrea has worked on for the better part of year. I'm tying up some loose ends, and bringing some of the players back-stories to head.

Most of this stuff is out of my head. The long speech that I posted earlier today from Areal was taken from the pdf, I really wanted to make sure the book was tied into the scene since we only did a small part of book 4.
Since Daniel is not available, I'm going to call it an earlier night. He needs to be in on the decision making with the nobles since his brother is there. I've some reading that I'd like to do.
Hmm.. Was there a mistep with so much information being given out? Eccardian and Chammady want to kill the hag because she knows the truth of their birth, but Areal just info-dumped all of it on us. So the motivation to go rescue the hag is gone.
Edit: Since it seemed the progression would have been, learn about that the Drovanages were going after the Mother of Flies for some reason, go rescue her and then she info dumps the Drovange's secret history.
So now it seems it is..They are going to fight each other? Eh, we have the info so just let them have at it.
