Hey Moth - could Elisile possibly slide 5 feet north? That way I get a clear shot at the ogre.

I was thinking of sundering his weapon, but then I looked at the new rules and changed my mind. His CMD is probably pretty good, as it is modified my STR and size...

Hey guys. My schedule hasn't really let up but I have learned to manage it better. I feel like I can provide enough presence to be able to contribute to playing in a PBP again. I love this game and would love to bring back Dravite if possible.
So Aubrey and crew, what do you say? May I join in again? If there isn't room then I understand and all.
Also if you decide to allow me back don't feel like you need to work me in on the quick....I probably need some updating (5th level Dravite and all) and some idea of where the party has gone and is heading, and a quick review of Dravite's mannerisms and speech patterns.
I miss the game and hope you all decide to allow me back in.

Hellz yih.

I had it written down on my character sheet that "Dravite's got 5,000 g.p. coming to him immmediately post-Xanesha..."

Hey, is Riese sick of trolling around in Jeklea Bay with a crew of Fabulous Boys catching fish and reenacting William Burroughs novels, or is he still on hiatus?

But of course!

Dravite should be easy enough to work back in once we kill off the rest of the ogres - he's probably huntin' giant in the hill country.

I'm gonna add the PBPs back slowly so I don't get overwhelmed, but that is the next one I wanna add back if all goes well. Gimme a few weeks to see how it goes.

Cool beans; we're in the midst of a fight, then it'll prolly be a "I gotta buy a bunch of stuff" interlude.

I hope so. So what's been happening since Dravite's hiatus?

We've been fighting ogres. Lots and lots of ogres. Currently we're in a ranger outpost overrun by..., well, ogres; right now we're fighting their leaders.

Dude, we are ready when you are. Glad things are freeing up a little bit for you. Bring on the hooking!

In general terms, I'd suggest that you come back immediately after the situation with the ogres in the fort is resolved. That might take a few days - with work getting a bit tricky, I'm much less able to update while I'm there, and at the moment my evenings tend to be a bit busy too, so things are quite a bit slower. It also means that in game time terms it is probably only a few days since Dravite slipped off, may be a week at most. So there should be no big continuity issues.

Cool. Let me know when. Also what has changed rule-wise in terms of the full switch-over to Pathfinder and all that stuff? And do I get to get close to the party's level or stay at 5th level?

I think I dropped out after the Flying Snakey Chick Tower in Magnimar....

Liberty's Edge

Male Mothman Expert 5

Welcome Fake. Yeah, I think the snake tower was about where you left us. The snake woman got away from us, but we've since had a chance to rid the world of her - and her sister.

I think Dravite left to fight ogres or something ... maybe the same ogres that we find ourselves fighting now ...

There are a number of changes from 3.5 to PF I think there was a conversion document floating around on the site somewhere, you might want to try to find it. You’ll probably find that your hit points increase (go from d8 to d10), you get a boost to one of your ability scores (wisdom I think), you might get an extra feat or two. Skills took me the longest to convert I think.

We are at level 7, I’ll leave it up to Aubrey to decide whether Dravite has levelled up in the meantime as well.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

There are a lot of changes, but most of them are just relatively minor adjustments. Since you don't change shape or cast spells, you avoid the worst of it. Here are some of the most important changes:

* The skill system mostly works the same way as before, but there are no cross-class skills. Instead, you get a flat +3 bonus on your class skills. Skill ranks now have a max=level. For example, Dravite has WIS 14, so his maxed-out Survival skill on level 7 is 12 (7 ranks, +2 WIS, +3 bonus for class skill). It will take a little time to update to PF, but this conversion is easy. Keep in mind, though, that a bunch of skills have been combined (for example, Hide and Move Silently is now just Stealth).

* There are no penalties for non-favoured classes anymore. Instread, you get a reward (+1 HP or skill point) per level you taske in your favoured class. You choose your own favoured on level 1. Prestige classes are obviously not favoured classes.

* Races now have an effective +2 stat adjustment, so you get a +2 bonus to WIS.

* Combat maneouvers have new rules - you now attack a Combat Maneouver Defense which is based on your BAB, your STR and DEX and your size. Thus, it is much more difficult now to trip, disarm or bullrush strong or experienced opponents.

* We get feats on levels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. So you get more feats than before. Additionally, many of them have changed a bit, so you'll need to look them over.

* Each class now has more class abilities. For example, the ranger now has favoured terrain. Take a look at Janosz to see what the new ranger looks like.

* Here is the Pathfinder PRD. It has all the rules you need.

I would assume so. There's a Pathfinder SRD on this site so you can see the changes if you haven't bought the book. Since Dravite didn't go into any PrCs it should be relatively straightforward to convert him across.

Alright I am getting my dude in order and totally updated. I should have him done this weekend.....Heathy mentioned that Dravite has 5,000gp coming to him? So can I shop and update equipment a bit also assuming most of the PRPG magic items are available in Magnimar? Also even with the 5k I am only at around 9-10K in character wealth. The players seem to be running between 16k and 20K in gear. Any chance that I get a bit more of a boost monetarily?

I see Alwyn, Illes, Hudak, Vethran, and Elisile and now Camlo, but who else is about? What happened to Larken and Lo'j?

Without you, the layers on my GIMP images spell "CHIVE" which always makes me chuckle...(one layer per character, so they can be re-arranged easily...)

I suggest the players tot up their wealth so we can come to a figure to apply to Dravite. That said, Camplo had (I think) standard wealth for a character of his level (albeit that was the level below the current one).

Stunty (Larken's player) sort of disappeared if I recall (though I might be getting mixed up with his Eberron game character) - I don't think he was an especially well man, and he also sort of roleplayed Larken into disliking the rest of the party and having no reason to be with them, which was problematic.

Dragonmann (L'oj's player) ended up stupidly busy with a new job and also more or less disappeared. He returned briefly to inform us of what had happened, but never rejoined the game and indeed hasn't posted here on Paizo for ages.

So the current listing of PCs you have is the correct one.

*These are quick rough-up numbers so I may be off by 1000 or so either way....*

Verthan- 19,000
Illes- 21,000
Elisile- 33,000 (43,000 with the Medusa Mask)
Hudak- 15,000
Camlo- 15,000
Alwyn- 20,000

Party average is 20,500, but there is a fairly wide amount of swing in the individual wealths.

Heh, no worries ... no doubt the magic bow and the sword both add a few g there.

It sort of goes with being a gish (magus?) - to be effective you need to have items that work for a warrior AND items that work for a mage, so Ellie has probably picked up a little more than an equal share.

I was just cracking up; no problems from my standpoint.
I'm not in it for the shinies.

I guess make sure he has about 25k-worth of gear. The PCs will garner a bit more gear before you meet them. Looking at the above, I'll try and balance things a little.

Aubrey, in a completely unrelated matter: I remember you mentioning that when you ran Thistletop, you took all of the rooms out of the highest level, to make it more Goblin-like.

How did you handle the multiple stairs down? Did you do it into multiple rooms, or just one, and did you throw all of the goblins that should be on that level at them at once or not?

I'm doing something similar for my home group, so I'd be interested in how it went. Did you leave the lower floors as written?

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

The only bit I changed was the goblin-made level - level 1. The rest I used as normal. So the lower level that the goblins used, but which was of Thassilonian origin, I used as printed. I can't remember if there was more than one was in to that level or not - certainly I think I only had one.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Expert 5

If there was more than one stair down from the goblin longhouse, we didn't find it.

BTW, how tough was the goblin chief? I remember chopping away on him for what seemed to be an eternity, while the party members were all staggering around perilously close to negative hit points.

Dark Archive

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

Ahh, cool. There is a back staircase, and a central one. I suppose getting rid of the two towers gets rid of the others, but I like the idea of goblins on teetering towers...

this is what I'm currently going with. Just needs some internal decoration and that rope bridge shadow refining....

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

I left the towers, if I recall. Anyway, if you can be bothered, the map will be in the thread somewhere.

The chief was a level 6 fighter if I recall. But his companions were significantly more badass than in the original scenario. That was a tough fight - the goblin bard actually making her UMD roll and blasting you with lightning (IIRC) didn't help. Or the goblin dog with levels.

Grand Lodge

We arrived in the Thistletop area on page 35. It's been a while...
