Minor adventure spoiler (I think it's minor, I don't know.)
In fact ,I don't know why I spoilered it. Everyone else in our game prolly read it too.

Wow! They actually wrote Hudak INTO the adventure? Amazing, looks like he is immortalized in written word.

BTW- for anyone thinking I may have negative thoughts towards gays, just know that I don't, never have, and I am very vocal in my "live and let live" attitude. I could care less that the Ex-governor of New Jersey was gay, or the recent senator, the problem I have with them is that they lie about it, are lying to thier family members, and are dishonoring thier marraige vows. Wouldn't matter if they were caught with women or men to me.....disclaimer over.

I hate you permissive types.

I don't see how me not interfering with other people's choices is me being permissive. Gays have never hurt me or my family, they have never tried to beat my @ss in an alley, never force-fed me a list of morals, and never made me once question my own sexuality. Why can't people be gay? Because the bible says so? "Gays are evil and will burn in eternal Hell-fire!" is in what part of the bible? Is it near the part where a dude get swallowed by a whale and survives for a while before being returned home? Because hey, we all know how the bible only has one way of interpretting it. Maybe because it is just immoral? Well, a bunch of people think it is immoral to eat animals too, does that make it evil for me to have a hot dog? I can hate alot of things: Baggy pant wearing gang-bangers, idiot presidents with a 5th grade vocabulary and a hair-trigger, illegal aliens in my country, etc. but I can't reasonable come up with a reason why I should stop Gay people from being who they are. They are one group that has never done a single thing that has impacted my way of living. I don't have any gay friends (that I know of anyway) but I have had some in the past and gamed with a few also, and they were unusually kind and helpful people, the men and the women, and I just have no reason to hate the group.

You hate permissive types, and I hate people who feel that it is alright to hate people for sexual preference, race, or creed. People have a right to be who they are. I won't tell someone they can't as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

Good rant FH. I happen to agree with you at least 99% on all of that.

But ... I think Aubrey may have been indulging in his usual subtley sarcastic British sense of humour, rather than getting on his moral high horse. I don't know, I could be wrong, but that's what I took from it.

Hey Aubrey, I have a question about my ogre hook. I could replace it with a magical one later and all that but for RP reasons I would like to keep the one I have (it was used to gut my sister) and I know that a weapon can't be made into a masterwork weapon after the fact but can I just pay to upgrade it to masterwork when I get the cash? Then later I could have it enchanted instead of just getting new. If you want I could throw in a few skill point towards craft:weaponsmith and act like like I am working on the weapon in my spare time.

He's been moving to Greece over the past week or two. He posted in our other game yesterday, but mentioned that his posting schedule might be a bit sporadic for a while.

Hey - way to make a guy feel part of the group! ;-)

Yes, I suggest Illes simply stroll round a corner and get stuck in - there is a big post describing the setting for the current combat in the other thread.

Didn't come out right, Bards rock! I always love a bard in the group, but a bard's abilities overlap several other classes and shore up the group whereas missing say, a cleric or a mage, could spell disaster. Every group of 5 or more should definately have a bard. I wanna be a bard when I grow up.

Anyway, for tactics, I moved so far out on the flank so that if they engage me, someone can flank them, if they engage someone else, I can charge and flank.

Chaps, a heads-up. I will be going to Chicago on business next week and my posting will be highly erratic, assuming it happens at all. I would not expect me to post after the coming Sunday until the Sunday after. However if I find an internet cafe I will post.

Similarly, I am off to Singapore for the first week of October, and after that I am on holiday for a week (i.e the second week in October). I might be able to post from Singapore, I definately won't be able to post while on holiday (being in the back of beyond).

Just to keep you updated.

Guys...

I realize that some of us and our schedules are slowing the game slightly, but all of this "rather than wait until it comes around to me" posting is getting annoying. (I know, "but Stunty, you're easily annoyed, just ask anyone.") It's just getting the whole board very muddy.
Maybe I'm the only one, and if so, I'll shut up.

The Exchange

It does make things slightly complicated, but we are in at least three fairly separate timezones - US, Europe and Australia. Also, a lot of us don't post at weekends, so they end up with big gaps for a couple of days. And it's the bloodlust, I'm afraid.

At the moment, we are waiting for Illes. Alwyn's action is somewhat problematic as I still can't see how he can charge. Once Illes resolves his action we can work out what happens next.

Man, I was sweating that battle.....
Sorry I took so long today; had to take my expectant wife in for her ultrasound; she had placental previa, but it went away. In non-medicalese, that means, we were possibly in somewhat bad danger possibly not, but now we're definitely not, and the dark cloud of doom on the horizon is pushed away for now. So I am happier right now than I've been in a while.
I also might be spotty posting over the next few weeks; I have a new technologist at work to train. It is incumbent upon me to watch her like a hawk at most times, to make sure this one learns much and does excellent work.

If it's one or two initiative counts away from my turn as it approaches the point where I'm going to go offline for the next 16 hours, I'll generally post my intended action.

I find that if I don't, it either holds everyone else up for up to 24 hours, OR I get NPC'd - which is fine once in a while but it gets pretty unsatisfying when it happens consistantly.

I’m happy to go with whatever consensus the group goes with, but from my experience this group likes a faster paced combat.

It may make it easier if anyone posting ahead of their turn makes actions that should work no matter what the people who have not yet posted do (as I have tried to do). Also, keep any actions that will take place on your turn in spoilers that can be read once your turn comes around.

Having said that, I play a much looser game in regards to initiative order (and game rules in general) than Aubrey does, so don’t take me as the voice of authority on this.

The Exchange

Glad to hear things are OK with the pregnancy, Heathy.

And, as Mothman says, the posting ahead of time does speed things up a little. Once Illes posted, we moved very smoothly to the end of the round even though Mothman was tucked up in bed. That said, it can be odd - I suggest people use spoilers if they are going to do that, since it allows me to amend things slightly when their initiative turn comes around.

Mildly disturbing.....I am picturing Mothey's icon in PJs with a Koala Brothers doll. Not pretty but I will be dressing some sort of tiny or small demon/devil in PJs and have a party surprise it, complete with nightcap.

And yes I think spoilers are the way to go.

Yeah, Dravite is a pathfinder also, but he needs to join officially, his ranger-mentor gave him all the info and training to be a pathfinder and a signed writ of sponsorship to turn in at a chapter house or with a representative of the organization which I will do ASAP if there is a representative in town here. The Ranger taught him all about The Pathfinders and how they operate, including the Chapter House locations and the protocol involved in the organization.

At least thats how I am rollin'.

BTW, assuming I don't bleed out during this fight, any one have a preference for which major aura I take first?

Starting at second level I can give a +1 to one of the following (the bonus goes up at 7,14, and 20 to a max of +4):

Melee to hit
ranged to hit
AC
damage
DR (1/-)
all saves
or
a 5' speed bonus

I was thinking AC or speed now, but I am interested in opinions

Bear in mind that neither barbarian nor ranger are favoured classes for dwarves, and you would take xp penalties.

There is a feat, dash i think, that raises your move by 5' while un- or lightly armored.

Original source is the minis handbook...

anyway

I was thinking AC would benefit everybody in every fight, while speed would benefit the group even between fights.

everything else only benefits some of the group, some of the time

I vote for speed. Especially at low levels, I need to be able to move around the battlefield and position myself for most effective spell placement. At higher levels, when my spells (generally) have greater ranges, it's less of an issue.

I think I'm coming down on the side of Stunty on the posting out of turn. With eight players, it is tricky enough to remember initiative order. While it is written out, referring between pages can be a pain. Also, some of the stuff has required a bit of "reality revision" when assumptions have been made which are not borne out be subsequent events, and with this many players the possible outcomes are multiplied.

Consequently, for this game (not necessarily the Eberron one, which is slightly more managable) please do not post actions out of initiative order. As a corollary, I will be more emphatic in posting where people are late, to keep things moving along.

I was gonna put a post up earlier, in response to this post, if you were gonna post it, before you posted so as to save time in trying to understand my thoughts on this matter, if you were to do this, but I didn't.

I agree, good call. It's hard to track where stuff is, where the party is and people planning future actions. If for some reason I can't post for a bit and DM needs to run Dravite, I put a Standard Operating Procedure for running him in his profile. Should have everything you need to make sure that he acts according to character.
